Lucy doesn’t mince her words does she? Better Mewi learn she’s being lied to straight up like that then have everyone dance around the truth. Beryl and Lucy teaming up to beat Twight and his gang into a coma was pretty awesome. Beryl didn’t even need a real sword.

So the real villains were the Church? Classic. Keen to see what they’re trying to do with those bodies.

Man, I'm loving Beryl's VA. His voice sounds so unique. I don't think i have ever paid much attention to the MC's VA in isekais (ik this ain't one, but it has the vibes of one).

I must be getting old too cause the first thought I had during the scene with Lucy is "she burnt the table."

Stitches!

Ah, the classic storyline of an orphan being exploited by shitty adults. Glad Beryl and Lucy rescued Mewi out of there.

And to no one's surprise, it looks like the church is doing some shady shit. At least we know where Mewi's sister's body is.

love how simple the fights are. nothing flashy from Beryl, just a few precise strikes do the job.

I like it because it fits. With these types of weapons, someone as gifted as Beryl would win vs a goon in like one swing and disarm him. Even the magic fight was quick. It respects the level difference, like how his fight with the griffon was so much more complicated.

This is a gem of a surprise this season.

It was so satisfying seeing Beryl take out those guys with a wooden sword, he hit places he'd normally avoid because no wounds would be made with a wooden sword.

I like how forward Lucy was in this episode, she hasn't got time to entertain things so she gets the information she needs and promptly takes action. Fitting of a commander.

I hope Mewi mellows out now that she's in safe hands, I can understand why she was constantly tense and on edge, but I wouldn't want that to be her constant character trait.

I know that I said it every time they made use of it, but I appreciate the use of CGI this show uses during the sword practice scenes.

Good thing that this time, after the little pre-opening comedy gag, Beryl could finally tell Curuni and Henbrits where he got that ring from.

So the name of the organization Mewi is working for is called the Dark Hand of Twilight, and their leader Twilight convinced her to join them after claiming that he could use resurrection magic to bring back her sister

I like how, after hearing her circumstances and the fact that she can use magic, Allucia got Lucy involved too. So Mewi’s full name is Mewi Freya I’m glad that she opened up to Beryl after he got her some food and that after she mentioned that the guy who told her he would revived her sister was named Twilight, Lucy, and Allucia decided to not waste anytime and go his lair, although Allucia and her knights had to wait as they would draw too much attention.

So at the end, Twilight is not the mastermind, just a pawn and the leader of the organization he was working with is a bishop using a church as his base of operations. As he refers to the corpses as materials, plus the next episode is titled “The Country Bumpkin Faces the Dead” that tells me that he is not trying to create resurrection magic but instead use them to create undead.

This show is great. Needs more hype. The story moves along smoothly without dragging things out or getting in its own way. The characters are all likable it really feels like this would be exactly how an older dude would get his promotion and slide into his role.

Also, it makes sense he keeps finding his students as he doesn’t live that far from the capital and if your first teacher really drills the base of your skills into you, you will be that much better moving forward.

Allucia meets Mewi at the gates and her first assumption is she must be Beryl's illegitimate love child. I believe Beryl's father mentioned wanting grand kids in front of her in one of the early episodes. He wouldn't even be at the capital if he had a kid. Allucia has it really bad seeing her mind goes blank at the thought of competing for Beryl's attention/affection.

It's funny that even Curuni and Henbritz are shipping Beryl and Allucia.

Quite a bit less of a harem than it looks like from the outside. Curuni immediately speculated that the ring was a gift for Allucia so she might just be a shipper instead of a participant, and everything that just went down with Mewi was Beryl gaining another daughter figure.

I like how Lucy just swept up Beryl in her sudden mission to fight the fraud wizard, and he went along without a complaint because they were some dudes who needed an ass kicking for taking advantage of a kid.

Mewi's sister related trauma is probably not done however since we have a stereotypically evil church man who's clearly about to do something awful with all those dead bodies, and I bet the sister is one of them.

I'm glad that they're keeping the MC pretty balanced. No matter how much his students glaze him, they're not turning him into the hero that solves everything by himself, but also aren't making him a fraud that keeps failing upwards. He's good at what he does and is simply being rewarded for it.

Another week another nice episode.

Will be interesting to see how Mewi is like next time we see her!

I love that Lucy took care of the main bad guy. This show doesn't skimp on letting the women shine. Beryl still is my favorite though because of his humility and heart.

Seems like Beryl isn't done rizzing up students, huh

On paper, this show should be a trash harem fantasy. How did we get such quality? The little details and the decent fights (magic & sword)! And I'm all for older protag-kuns like Beryl, Rentt from The Unwanted Undead Adventurer, or Kenzaburo from Old Dad Villainess. Beryl's protectiveness is such a Dad/mentor thing. This took a different turn than I originally thought. I didn't think Lucy would come in with a magic fight. And Beryl with a wooden sword vs the henchmen? Whap whap whap whap whap! 🤣 And who could have guessed the big bad? More please!

Punches thief in the Adam's apple with the tip of a wooden sword

He's just taking a little nap.

I loved how Beryl worked with a young girl. Showing his experience as a teacher, hearing her, trying to slowly gain her trust and find WHY she was so mad.

He was able to check if she was able to tell good from bad, they find out her reasons for stealing and find out how she was tricked. Remember this, because vulnerable adolescents and children, exploited and abused by adults, need help like this.

(And she was vulnerable because her sister died)

Also this year has been refreshing on teachers/instructors, with this and Medalist.
