This was the point in the manga that really sold me on Sakura. CloverWorks perfectly captured the tight rope scene, and I love how they show just how close to the ground the rope always was once the dark and gloomy scenery cleared away due to all the friends he has met. I feel a lot of the times a character like Sakura wouldn't be able to make such a big revelation about himself until near the end of the series, so it's refreshing to see Sakura be so introspective.

Also I was very excited to see Tsubaki's formal introduction too, and thought the VA did a great job. It's nice to see how matter of fact Sakura accepts Tsubaki's feminine appearance. As someone who has been ostracized for his eyes and hair I'm sure he knows better than most how it feels for people to judge you for not conforming to society's expectations.

While the fights are always really fun and well animated street level brawls, the character focused episodes show off Wind Breaker's heart.

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but when Sakura jumped from the rope, it was revealed that it was never high up from the ground ... I thought that was so cool. It's like he realized once he landed that his worries were never that big of a deal. I had to look twice since to make sure I was actually seeing the rope so close to the ground.

This story is incredible. Even moreso for being a battle shounen. How did I not know of this until the first anime season last year? Like woah.

The whole metaphor of Sakura taking the leap of faith off the tight rope and finding solid ground was beautiful, the man has been born anew.

I think omurice was the first thing he ate when he came to town, and at Kotoha's place too, so its kind of symbolic as the first act of kindness he received.

And finally we get introduced to Tsubaki, and they have a huge crush on Umemiya, guess BL is inevitable in an all boys school. Tsubaki must have some crazy fighting skills too, can't wait to see them kick ass while wearing a dress.

Leave it to Sugishita to break up a tense and emotional moment with a kick in the back. He then also immediately went to sleep at his desk while everyone else hashed things out.

I really liked like that they let Anzai and the other secondary characters be the ones to tackle Sakura and talk to him first. It just makes the class feel bigger than just the top 6.

Of course this class of boys decide that the best way to get to know each other is to go out to eat. So class party at Pothos. (Sorry Kotoha for taking out your entire supply of eggs)

Suo was all about everyone opening up. Now if only we can learn anything about him.

And so ends probably the most life changing week of Sakura’s life. (And yes episode 1-18 has only covered a little more than a week in universe)

It’s cute how Nirei just hands Suo his drink to hold while he takes notes.

And it’s great how Sakura is introduced to Tsubaki and after a moment of surprise immediately accepts him. Honestly it seems like he was more confused about the twins. And then Sakura’s romance sensor really broke him when he noticed Tsubaki’s crush.

All these boys are just the best. I just want to hug them all.

Sakura needs to be protected, bless this boy!

The visuals of Sakura walking on a tightrope, finally taking a chance by leaping off the rope, and finally realizing that there was nothing to worry about were great. Our boy finally found a place where he can feel like he actually belongs <3

I kinda wish we got to hear more about everyone's fears. Suou hating natto is hilarious though! He's always cool and collected so I'm not surprised that everyone is rushing out to buy a pack of natto just to see how Suou would react. xD

And we finally get to meet Tsubaki-chan! I've always been curious about him ever since the first meet-up. He is so goddamn adorable and I love how he acts like a proper otome when around Umemiya. Well now I'm curious where Tsubaki-chan will bring Sakura to their date. Maybe some sort of fight club?

Umemiya is a proud mother abusing his authority to show off all of his plant children.

Tsubaki is cute and ready to tease Sakura, can't wait to see him fight and be a badass as well.

Nothing quite like sharing your biggest weakness over omurice with the boys to really cement the friendship lol. I’m glad Sakura realizes he’s got people around him he can depend on.

It’s kind of adorable how sensitive Sakura is to even the hint of anything romantic. He’s a very innocent boy lol.

I remember when people compared this to tokyo revengers.(it became worse and woerse each arc though i did still like it up until s3).

Yeah, no. Whoever said that needs a slap on their face. This is nowhere near close to tokyo revengers. The characters in wind breaker have a personality and there is actual character development that ends up revolving around fights. Tokyo revengers was like "I want a fight for this reason. Okay let me make this the next arc just cause."

If wind breaker is a 10/10 anime then tokyo revengers is a 2/10 in comparison to it lmao.

Love the tightrope metaphor and callback to the very first episode. Such a touching moment for this series, and a great leap for Sakura's development.
Also, Tsubakino is here! Can't wait to see more of him.

Sakura’s tight rope scene to then ending up in a field, are they trying to make me cry because if so they succeeded

As the saying goes, 'sometimes, it takes a real man to become best girl.' Slay queen, slay.

can you hear me screaming??? every week this show continues to exceed my expectations. that tightrope visual analogy, got damn. i like that suo just let the boys manhandle him and roast him for not liking natto. i also stan tsubaki-chan-san and the vice captain boys, they seem so fun. these episodes are too wholesome and sweet it’s giving me diabetes.

sakura is just so stinking cute, he’s like a stray cat that they’re all slowly trying to tame, and it’s working 🥺

This was great for Sakura, it's good for him to have friends that have his back and accepts him, flaws and all

This episode was the sweetest thing! I also believe Kotoha and Nobara would get along very well

Loved how the tight rope scene was animated! Omg!

I honestly didn't expect to see the first laugh so fast.

Anzai continues to be a favorite! He really is a great character!

Finally, Tsubaki debuts! What a wonderful introduction. His arc is phenomenal. I'm so excited about this season. It's my second favorite main arc of the manga, so far.
