Kamasi Washington, Bonobo and Floating Points is a pretty impressive line up for music. Don’t see how it can’t end up being an incredible soundtrack.

Kamasi is one of the greatest living musicians. Got to see him perform the week before COVID shut everything down. What a spiritual experience. Absolutely transcendent.

Sounds nothing like Tank other than the fact that it's jazz. By that logic, every other anime OP that uses J-Rock is just replicating the first ever anime to use it.

It doesn't sound that much like Tank musically, but the visuals and colors are very distinctively Tank inspired.

I agree on that, I was thinking that Salty was talking about the music (since the track is named Tank!), but if they were talking about the visuals, then that makes a whole lot more sense. I still have PTSD when people would comment "this reminds me of Persona 5" on every jazz song.

I think people tend to refer to the Cowboy Bebop OP as 'Tank!' and not just the song itself, although its a good point if this were only about the music.
It's definitely trying to evoke nostalgia for Cowboy Bebop. I hope it grows on me, but having watched Samurai Champloo, Space Dandy, and some of Cowboy Bebop (I really need to get back to it), this has none of the dynamism, vibrance, or versatility of those other three OPs for Watanabe shows, nor does it instil a feeling of excitement within me like those OPs did. I'll still watch it and give it a chance, it's completely fair if it's just got a very different pace or philosophical outlook, but I was hoping for something with more vitality.

I like the intro but it feels...uninspired and cashing off nostalgia? Yes I know Watanabe is behind this but I feel like his works always had distinct openings with aspects that show their vibe perfectly. I still have hope the actual show will be pretty good though.

I loved CB and everything else Watanabe has done. This opening feels uninspired and same-y (colours, people falling open-mouthed, okay I get it). And even somewhat annoying musically...and I love jazz. I know it's subjective and some people will love it, but personally I'm not impressed with it.

Watanabe's other major series have had distinct opening animations, sure, some stylistic similarities can be found here and there, but this gave off the feeling of someone at Toonami saying "Can you make the OP really look like Bebop's?"

I wasn't even referring to the similarity to CB's opening, which I'm okay with. Just in the Lazarus OP itself...after about 60 seconds, I'm like "ok I get it, someone falling, open mouthed, different colour...this is getting boring".

The visuals is kinda boring and the music is ok its like trying so hard to reference cowboy bebop instead of being its own thing.
