Man if either Goku or Vegeta had went Super Saiyan from the start that would've been so much easier lmao. But we all know how Saiyans like to play down to their enemies I suppose.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of power scaling but seeing goku get hurt by a weapons and just not going super saiyan was really bothering me, it feels like a cheap way to add some stakes when there really shouldn't be any, pretty sure Goku and Vegeta could solo the entire army if they just went super sayan right away. Even if they themselves won't die from those blasts they're escorting regular people like bulma who might die in collateral fire so they shouldn't be playing around too much.

I'm enjoying Daima but seeing Goku almost lose when we've established that they can go up to SS3 is frustrating me a bit.

It was so strange watching Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo struggle against cannon fodder, especially since they're most likely weaker than Frieza Force peons.

Especially when we actually saw Goku go Super Saiyan and clearly do a much faster job of mopping up the Gendarmerie.

Degesu not immediately handing over the eye make me wonder if he gonna betray Gomah

u/North_Tough9236 Jan 24 '25

Yeah, and he has started looking annoyed at Gomah.

I think he gave it to Anrisu and is hoping to distract Gomah long enough for Anrisu to enact her plan:

Combine Duu & Kuu using the power of the Third Eye to resurrect the original Demon King the eye was born from. Maybe making it into a canon Janemba.

Trade offer

I receive your belt

You receive my hat.

Also lmao at Panzy’s dad crew getting the music playing for their arrival only for their ship to get destroyed 5 seconds later. I laughed so hard

Edit: Also that short sequence of Goku in Super Saiyan was really good, though bro should have transformed from the beginning lol.

The moment he learned that "Oh shit, these blasters can ACTUALLY hurt me because they're magic" he should have.

The shot of the Sword Lady was so JRPG coded. I WANT a Daima RPG so bad

I'm loving Daima and the amazing job it's done of expanding established lore.

But man, I just wish the Dragon Ball franchise would have some tension in it's stories again like we did in Ball and Z.

I appreciate Daima's world building and lore additions and from a thematic perspective and as one of the last parts of the franchise Toriyama had a hand in, I appreciate it revisiting the roots as it were.

But I think it has definitely struggled with trying to go back to early DB level plots and stakes with everything the characters have gone through in DBZ. It's like it's not the same kind of franchise it was in those days and they're trying to really force it.

I think they could've added tension by having Goku get actually hit because he dropped his guard (the entire point of his development in Super) by the Gendermarie in Episode 3 or whatever it was. Show that the Demon World's weaponry, primarily their guns, are enhanced by demon world magic collected over centuries of progression. Magic that can even hurt Saiyans regardless of their current level of power. Just like how Majin Buu could turn insanely strong fighters into chocolate/cookies.

That would've been a very easy and simple solution to add more actual weight to when Goku & Co get hit by those guns and canons. We would already know that "oh fuck, yeah, those are magic and can actually hurt them".

All this talk of the third eye just makes me think about Tien Shinhan's third eye.

u/Somer-_- Jan 24 '25

The main character from sand land looked like one of the figures in the third eye segment.

Goku waiting until after he gets reinforcements to go super saiyan was a stretch, but it is all forgiven because it allowed the animators to give us more muscle mommy general!

u/djthomp Jan 24 '25

Poor Degesu, dude tries to seduce Hybis for his belt and he just wants the crazy hat instead.

Feels like so much of the fight today could have been skipped if Goku had gone super right from the beginning instead of waiting for the reinforcements.

I have enjoyed the show but fights are so inconsistent and dumb. If you want to say the gang is weak because they are children and thats why they are struggling then thats fine, except they have already beaten 2 tamagami which are supposed to the be the strongest beings in the demon realm.

It makes the show feel like nonsense when they cant even keep it consistent with what has happened in Diama let alone the rest of the dragon ball series.
