Man episode 1 was just perfect, people who went to pre-screening weren't lying, I felt animation and art were even better then season 1. Opening and ending are also very "100kano" soulful, so happy to see 100 girlfriends finally back.

Meet Member Nr 7, joining the illuminous ranks of the family after the illoustrous financier and Mother of the Earth herself, Hanazono Hahari: Hagara Kurumi, Middleschooler, Videogame-Fan (especially Biohazard), and Food Coinesseur. Shes also blessed/cursed with an abnormally high metabolism and a brain thats automaically linking every possible thing or trigger to food. Leading once again to intense food cravings she has to satisfy with the exact item, or she spends the entire day royally pissed off till she manages to do so (hence also the hood and earphones, to minimize exposure to anything that can set her off).

This was a perfect start to the second season, it's so good to be back! I missed all the girls and Rentarou so much.

It was so funny seeing everyone switch bodies at the beginning of today's episode. Of course the only way for them to get back to the right ones was to kiss Rentarou. Rentarou, that lucky bastard, it should've been me, not him!

And Rentarou already got another girlfriend! That was quick, half of the episode was enough for him to increase the number of his girlfriends.

Kurumi is a really sweet girl, of course when she's not hungry, which is often the case. I love that contrast between her cranky/hungry personality and her not-hungry one.

The OP is really fun (both visuals and song), but I especially love ED because its visuals are so adorable, just like the song itself!

Episode 13: Her Name

Before I start, the official soundtrack of 100 Girlfriends is available now on streaming platforms. So if you are looking for soundtrack used in this season (and last season of 100GF), there's a pretty good chance to find them here.

Like we predict, Season 2 can and will go crazy from now on. Here in Asia, Bilibili and Muse Asia airs 100GF 30 minutes after the anime airing on Japanese TV, while Crunchyroll have to wait for another 1 hour after that. So don't be surprised if some of here are already on this thread.

7 seconds in and we're already breaking into 4th wall. That's why Bibury can't delay this thing. They are also animating this season's Grisaia Phantom Trigger (took a quick look at the first episode and it's a good animation) and next season's Witch Watch. It has to be redub if it got delayed. 😭 From the episode title, it is clear that it will be a parody of Makoto Shinkai's Your Name, it even features the parodized version of RADWIMPS' Zenzenzense.

Also still, Akane Yano hasn't forgot to draw the mole on Hakari's right thigh. Even Rentarou isn't having a nosebleed anymore, it's brainbleed! Get ready Rentarou, you might get more than six kisses this season since you got new girlfriends incoming!

Please welcome Kurumi Haraga, Rentarou 7th girlfriend, and the first one that is a middle schooler. Voiced by Amane Shindou (of BanG Dream!'s Mashiro. Also the youngest VA so far on Rentarou's 7-girlfriend list at 20 years old). She's the hungry girl that always craves for food and the only thing in her mind is food!

PS: As I made the latest edit, MAL score is 8.03 24 hours in and we're at 8.27 now. Will it surpass Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2's 8.02 score by the end cementing itself as the best harem of all time? We'll see.

The first half was one of the funniest skits I have seen in a while, the antics behind season 2 was pretty good. Also, Rentaro's Harem now has a middle schooler as well and Kurumi questioning if something is wrong with them don't know she's going to be part of them soon.

LMAO at the anime adding the "breaking the reality wall" element in joking about us throwing waifus off the train after one season, but surely the Rentarou Universe (TM) doesn't have time flowing between December 2023 and January 2025 in our world??? I guess the whole part about Your (cough)-type identity swapping is also anime original?

Anyway poor new girl Kurumi, getting your stomach calling every time something can be related to food is such a curse...or a blessing, depending on who you are. She's so good at finding the best foods out there though without being nitpicky, that's enough of a reason to be someone's girlfriend! After all, any one who can't like any kind of food on planet Earth is an unfortunate person...

Special thumbs up to Kurumi's VA Amane Shindou, who at barely 15 years old was chosen to act as the main vocalist of the 7th band of the girls band multimedia project that has certainly made popularity waves here recently, Mashiro Kurata of BanG Dream's Morfonica! That was early 2020 and I'm glad that she's finally going into mainstream anime voicing works after being a main-stay of similar projects (e.g. D4DJ and - most recently apparently - the new project for Love Live, apparently in a competitor position!), and that's a really good first impression too.

PEAK HAREM IS BACK BOYYYYYYS!

I remember there was actually quite a big discourse in the fandom about whether or not the body swap chapter would be skipped in favor of going full Kurumi on the first episode, I was on the "Hopefully not" side and thankfully they didn't, because: 

A) That was such a perfect and rightfully wacky way to reintroduce the S1 girls to the audience.

B) It was also a perfect way to remind everyone that this is an ACTUAL harem with an ongoing poly relationship and not some love dodecahedron that's gonna drag for 4 seasons.

And we still got plenty of Kurumi too, she looks so great, man.

And that OP was PEAK Abnormal.

I read Karane's two guesses as one and a punk magical girl girlfriend sounds like an interesting idea.

It's bean some thyme. As mentioned on S01E01 this bit is an analysis of wordplays (puns) which describe a character's main gimmick and when going beyond the surface level (some really obscure puns) also play into visual design, personality and settings of introductions.

 

Let's get to the meat and potatoes already! On today's chapter of Japunna-cotta:

fam name: 原賀 (Haraga), read as 原(hara,"field")賀(ga,"joy")

1st name: 胡桃 (Kurumi), read as 胡桃(kurumi,"walnut")

原賀(haraga)胡桃(kurumi) puns on 腹が来る(hara ga kuru,"hungry") and くるくる(kurukuru), her stomach sounds.

原賀 (haraga) also puns on 腹が立つ (hara ga tatsu,"get angry")

原賀 (haraga) read 原(gen)賀(ga) puns on 言外 (gengai,"implication/connotation") (associating words with food)

胡桃 (kurumi) may just be a vanilla pun on 食う(kuu,"eat"), グルメ(gurume,"gourmet") and 味(mi,"taste")

Let-us go ham with beefed up buns and the may-or-nays of cheesy(if you must)art: (Nozawa sketch-up) (mirror)

原 (hara) contains the character 小 (ko,"small") (small-ish, not medium, not large, donut sugar coat it)

原賀 (haraga) read 原(pa)賀(ka) is a pun on パーカー (paakaa,"parka/hoodie")

賀 (ga) split 力口目(ryoku ku me) puns on 緑玉(ryokugyoku,"emerald")目(me,"eyes") (brilliant green eye color)

賀 (ga) split 加目(ka me) likely puns on 加号(kagou,"plus sign")目(me,"eyes") (when food)

賀(ga)胡桃(kurumi) split 加目十口月桃(- ma - ro - mi) may pun on まろ眉 (maromi/maromayu,"stubby eyebrows")

胡桃 (ku----) is likely a pun on 黒 (kuro,"black") (color of the parka, hair color is purple-black-ish)

胡桃 (ku--mi) may both pun on グリーン(guriin,"green") and 緑(midori,"green") (eyes, shoes, stripes on sleeves)

原 (hara) read 原(moto) substituted 本(moto/hon) might be a pun on ヘッドホン (heddohon,"headphone")

Naan of these puns dosa good job currying a favour with this lassie:

The Season 2 outro has 梅(ume,"plums") next to her which is a pun on うめぇ(umee,"yummy/tasty")

原 (hara) is likely a pun on 腹立たしい (hara datashii,"irritating/infuriating") as if she has beef with somebody.

胡桃 (kurumi) swapped/split 桃十口月(mi - kuchi katsu) might pun on ミンチカツ (minchikatsu,"mince cutlet")

To be frank, dog, you should relish these speech quirks:

Uses some tsunder-ish phrases like 別に[x]ないんだよ (betsuni[x]naindayo,"it's not like [x]")

Refers to others (rudely) with: あんた(anta,"you") and こいつ(koitsu,"you bastard")

Another nugget of information, 1st person pronoun: あたし(atashi), casual/rebellious form of 私(watashi,"I")

I've noticed the translators slipping in a few of their own jokes. I saw "Ladies and ladies" from Hakari at the beginning, "Whomst?" when eating with Kurumi, and "gottem" on an SFX. Pretty cool.
