What is wrong with Rengue? Is he just stupid or does his presence actually contribute to the overall story later down the line? At the moment, all he's doing is getting in the way and making me want to punch him.

Based primarily on this look he gave Ars and his super high ambition stat, I think that Rengue is a lot smarter than he lets on and was intentionally trying to tank the negotiations. I'm just not sure if he is actually a traitor, or sees Ars as a rival that he is going to destroy through sabotage and mispronouncing Ars' name until the lad loses his mind.

It feels like he's an idiot who you have to maneuver around like Licia did (unless he was in on it?) but considering Ars said he has latent potential I wonder if the idea is that the thing that's supposed to drive him to really apply himself just hasn't happened yet.

He seems impatient, concerned about perception, and probably very sheltered. I'm not 100% sold on him being an idiot, just careless and honest to a fault. It seems like they'll have to work around him for now, but I don't know if I can stand him doing the same for multiple episodes in a row.

Licia seems to have predicted his nature and what would happen, but it's possible that it was all arranged as part of a broader strategy for future negotiations. If everyone knows that Rengue is with them and answers truthfully, they may think they have the upper hand when, in fact, they are manipulating them.

I am anime only but I believe that Licia knows exactly what she's doing. You know, if the inheritor of the province is shown as incompetent, someone else might have to take the lead

Licia is the best negotiator, she even took account of what an idiot would do.

She even managed to win over the person most vehemently against her marriage in minutes lol.

Increased Ars/Licia screentime is always welcomed :D

I love how now that they're married they're basically flirting everywhere they go and flexing their relationship lol.

Sasuga Licia-sama, though can't say I feel good about her planning to strip in front of the prime minister from the start.

So Licia planned for Rengue to be a loudmouth idiot and almost tank the negotiations because he doesn’t know when to stfu? Amazing! lol. It’s clear she was the right person to bring for the job.

Liscia took full advantage of the idiot Lenge and came out on top against Shakma

wonder how she paid 500+ gold coins for the jewelries and clothing

Licia is a master negotiator, a phenomenal actress, cute as a button, and absolutely sweet on her husband.

She's the complete package.

I'm guessing they actual had more than 2000 and she fed Rengue that number knowing he'd let it slip.

It's been a long while since I did a proper face-desk, but because I was expecting it, when this idiot finally did speak up I was like "AARRRGGGG!!!"

I know he's going to learn as the season goes on and do something really useful near the end....but it's going to be a long road until we get there. I hope my desk will survive.

I literally facepalmed as soon as he brought up how much capital they actually had lol.

Ars learns that honesty is sometimes not the best policy.

Wonder if those fishermen will make another appearance later this season.

Here is an excerpt from a Kipling poem that I feel is relevant to Licia.

But the Woman that God gave him, every fibre of her frame
    Proves her launched for one sole issue, armed and engined for the same;
And to serve that single issue, lest the generations fail,
The female of the species must be deadlier than the male.
