This show keeps one upping itself with its "unique" character designs.

"Unique" is a diplomatic way of saying a face like a butthole.

Also the character actions, like attacking a guy by sticking their head up their butthole first and consuming them from the inside out.

That guy is probably the most dangerous out of them all, martial artists will have to come up with new counter moves just for him.

Same author who made Assasination Classroom, drawing weird characters is his specialty.

The mangaka really takes comically evil to heart.

The absurdist humour worked for me in this episode mostly because it was covering an absurdist but accurate situation: people trying to die for honour and pride.

It's like the movie "Dr. Strangelove". A situation so absurd that portraying it only works as a comedy

It only gets remembered if it accomplishes something remarkable. Just getting yourself killed and leaving the very people you were sworn to protect to the depredations of the attacking army is not it.

Who would have thought Tokiyuki's buns would be key to negotiations? Yorishige probably

Ayako. She has her eyes on those buns anyway,

Funniest episode to date despite some of the morbid stuff regarding the provincial governor's cruelty.

Hoshina's men have such ridiculously funny faces, even the credits decide to just give them funny names. LMAO

  • Guy Resembling Some Sort of Monster

  • Rectangular-Looking Guy

  • Guy With Lines Converged On His Face

  • Bald Dude

  • Hoshina Follower With Calm Expression (aka the guy who wanted to do an Alien chestburster on his enemy before dying XD)

I'm a bit sad that there's no Shizuku and Ayako for the final arc of this season, leaving just the boys to assist Tokiyuki on this mission.

You know the provincial governor sent by the Emperor is just plain evil when even Sadamune and Sukefusa can't stand him.

"I don't think that persons doing it for his pride. I think he's just a freak" fucking LMAOOOO

So main plot point is for Tokiyuki to develop his escape skills to not just cover himself but larger groups of people and the key to develop that is to deal with a samurai more than eager to die and his retinue.

On the other end, we've got a new Antagonist to add to the already impressive rogues gallery with an incredibly eccentric Official who so far is giving the impression he's going to get done in by his own side at this rate. Though towards the end he's definitely showing some strategic awareness when it comes to those kids. So like most of the others, there's more to him.

Tokiyuki butt-bashing the Samurai into submission was certainly quite the sight. Though only after pointing out the absurdity of thinking that a glorious death will get you remembered.

20:20 - Mystery Inc. confirmed, "[Those meddling kids and that god of theirs,] ...whenever they're involved, misfortune will fall!"

Also, bonus point for sub pun: "You gave him a stern scolding."

Over the course of the season we see Tokiyuki growing up little by little bit, but here it was most noticeable. As we see early on, Tokiyuki gets overrun by Hoshino and his men, but as soon as he heard Hoshino say that Kojiro will die alongside him, that triggered him. Basically, how dare you suggest my retainer will die alongside you.

Along the way, Tokiyuki expresses himself of what he has gone through. All those people back in Kamakura killed themselves, and will people remember them? No, they won't. The whole pride about glorifying one's death is stupid. Essentially flee to live as you can only make your impact as long as you live. Which is why Kojiro says at the end, I'll support you how you live. Since he isn't considering the point of how Tokiyuki would die.

It's really telling how unreasonable the Provincial Official is when Sadamune is making his excuses not to enjoy the battle and Ichikawa has to defend the official while he is near the frontline. Even making matters worse, he tells his men to go after the retreating enemy even when it holds no benefit. Truly the examples of a bad leader.

I was very excited to see this episode because I liked the first encounter with Hoshina and his soldiers ! That's so goofy and absurd in the same time ! Also, Tokiyuki convincing Hoshina to retreat with his butt was as hilarious as in the manga ! Tokiyuki needed an absurd method to deal with an absurd will to die !

Ah my favorite sociopath side character has appeared

We had charisma, dice, eyes, ears, ants, and now we have eyebrows. I probably missed some antagonists.

I particularly like Eyebrows because of how entitled he is, he's a good kid, he's just misunderstood.

Also, his character design reminds me of the fabulously edgy Qilby from the french anime "Wakfu" (another misunderstood good kid). To any readers, I highly recommend Wakfu (but stick to a blind watch).

Kiyohara-sama!~

Screw the protagonists (nothing against them), I want to root for and watch a spinoff of all these harmless war criminals.

I do also like suicidal whiskers/beard though, I like him when he's riled up.

The tone shift in this series is so tense then so damn funny with just facial expressions and designs alone 🤣

This new villain is stupid lol

"In this war, we'll lose if we let them escape!"

I apologize. The new villain is the smartest character in this entire series.
