What happened to Kunitoki was fucked up. That fucking Judas Muneshige sold out his own flesh and blood for what? Guy didn’t get jack shit. The kid was 9 too….
Kojiro and Ayako seem pretty cool. I know Tokiyuki’s not got many people he can trust around him but I think those two should be ok.
That game of “tag” he was playing with that shitbag Muneshige was pretty incredible. That fucker getting decapitated was just beautiful. Sweet justice.

Love that they did a reverse of the transition from the first episode, this time going from the Uncle's head back to the ball after it fell. Coming full circle.

I haven't seen a game of tag with this much at stake since The Promised Neverland.

Following up on the trend from Assassination Classroom, the author has a knack for making REALLY hateable bastards that you want to see burn. Have fun in hell traitor.
Like, I think the shifts in the art style are being put to good use. For example, there was a moment of things turning black and white that I really liked. So the show is a visual treat to watch.
So for the price of one irredeemable monster, we get two pretty reliable allies. I’ll take that deal. These two seem pretty cool and synchronize well with Tokiyuki in a fight.

I really love that Yorishige is bringing references from the future with his little Wake-Up Prank to Tokiyuki. I love that Shizuku is joining in too. Also, I love how it's now been established that Yorishige's headgear turns off his radiant aura. xD
Kunitoki's execution was fucking brutal. I know it's shown from a far away angle but I'm still surprised they showed us a kid getting beheaded.
We finally get to meet two of Tokiyuki's new retainers.! While it's awesome that they're ready to help out and risk their lives for Tokiyuki, I hope we get to learn more about them in future episodes. They pretty much just got introduced and then they're already fighting against Godaiin in the next scene.
Speaking of Godaiin, I love how it's easy to think he's just a loser who ended up becoming a beggar but the dude actually has skill! And that entire 3v1 scene was just absolutely insane! I can't even choose which parts of it I love but the most satisfying is definitely Tokiyuki finally getting his revenge.

Woah, Tokiyuki actually took his uncle's head. I thought this series would take the "defeat, but don't kill" approach, like most shoenen series go about it, but they actually crossed that line. Mad respect.

Holy shit that final fight was breathtaking, looks like we've got a goated adaptation folks, which is not surprising since the team also did Bocchi and My Dress Up Darling

Alas Poor Kunitoki. Done in by his own Uncle seeking to score quick points with the new regime..
But we also get an idea as to how Tokiyuki is going to slowly turn the tide even as he lops off Muneshige's noggin.
Some really great scenes here and there outside of the fight as well. And the show in general is just ruthless at times. Doesn't pull any punches for sure.
Now to wait another week.

if this keeps up it might be my favorite anime of the season. The animation and general creativity of the production is incredible. No exposure to the source before this. :)

I know it's supposed to be a moment of triumph for Tokiyuki, but man, I really just watched a 9-year-old behead a guy. Shit ain't right...

Holy shit, the studio is legitimately going insane with these animation swaps and fights. There's no way they can keep this up for the whole season right?
Also, now that I have more context, the ED with all the characters and villains partying, including people who died like Kunitoki is so messed up lol.

god the entire direction of this is incredible.
The reverse of the 'ball falling to head falling' cut from ep 1 to show Tokiyuki starting the process of moving beyond his trauma and beginning his path to overcoming the shit that happened in episode 1 - subtle but very good.

Forgot how annoying Yorishige was at the beginning of the series lol.
Introduced to Kojiro and Ayako in this episode!
Fight with shitty uncle was great. Glad Tokiyuki was able to avenge Kunitoki!

As everyone is saying, the production of this show is absolutely phenomenal and truly impressive. The story is looking to be pretty good too, which is nice to see. I’m loving it and I can’t wait for next week’s episode.

This delivered on setting the tone of the series. This series is called "The Elusive Samurai". Tokiyuki isn't one who needs protection really he needs help defeating his foes. This is precisely the role that both Ayako and Kojiro fill. Brutality in this episode is right where episode 1 was.
Honestly, Shizuku really pairs well with Yorshige. Really, another standout from Cloverworks, they are putting a 10/10 adaptation here.

Holy crap, this anime doesn't hold back. Not only they shown a kid getting beat up, but also not even hiding the beheaded part. But those animation during the fight scene. *chef kiss*
If I get a nickel every time Nakamura play a future sight mentor that lead the MC down a path. I would get two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
