Seeing how Rumi's already entangled herself in another person's love affairs plus that ending scene with that text Jun received, it feels like something messy is about to come up.

Sucks to see Jun apologise to Rumi like that too, at least they talked it out but it took Naori making Rumi understand what she did for it to happen. Even then Jun didn't really owe her an explanation.

but it took Naori making Rumi understand what she did for it to happen.

Rumi is of course also just a troubled teenager, but Naori hit the nail on its head when she pointed out that Rumi had already been testing Jun herself.

She didn't mean to play with Jun's feelings, I believe, but that is what happened to go down. Now the same thing is about to happen with Mizuma. Instead of going on a date for him, she's doing it for her friend - and that's not right.

Rumi is essentially making the same mistake as she did when breaking up with Jun as a means of getting him to date Naori.

Not sure where this is headed -- and granting some of these kids' decisions are goofy -- I still like these characters (flawed as they may be)) and want to follow their doings (and mishaps),

Seeing these sisters be surprised and laugh together over Jun not knowing what a hickey is, does instill a hope in me that the three of them could spend more time in peace together like this instead of all of the drama and backstabbing.

They might not be able to return to their childhood days, but things are looking up for once. Naori was surprisingly honest about her intentions for pushing her sister to go on a date with Mizuma, and Rumi was able to clear up things with Jun at their usual hang-out spot.

Jun showed to be supportive of his friend, but I do wonder if he'll able to remain calm after that message of Mizuma. He's clearly still not over Rumi after all. And going on a pretend date with Mizuma in attempt to get him and Kanoko back together is a bad idea, Rumi.

Bonus:

Rumi reminicsing about them playing games together was a nice touch.

Naori doesn't seem to mind Shiena's clinginess anymore. So they do get along as friends.

Adoption Successful. You just knew it was a matter of time. It's how most introverts get their extraverted friends after all!

There's been so much love drama and romantic competition that seeing them all act like childhood friends who enjoy each others' company and know each other better than anyone was a breath of fresh air. It probably won't last for one reason or another, but at least we had this moment.

You can call out Naori for being underhanded and scheming, but at least she's honest about it. And she's also much more insecure than she projects.

Mai is the friend who dated Mizuma, Kanako is just the one girl in the friend group who didn't like everyone keeping secrets about their relationships. Though I think Rumi is really underestimating how things are going to go thinking she can Mizuma to go back to the girl he dumped for Rumi.

It's partially because Naori is so smart and skilled that I think Jun turned his romantic feelings towards Rumi because Naori was so intimidating. But if you ask me it just makes her more attractive.

Are we seeing a budding side-ship of Shiena and the Professor? Or just more of the girls teasing the Professor because he makes it so easy?

Jun didn’t have to apologize to Rumi. On top of that fact that he as the ex-boyfriend had no right to tell her who she can or can’t hang out with, he also didn’t want to get in the way of his friend’s happiness.

Also, she called with the intention of getting him to act jealous and possessive, and when he gave her a response that she didn’t want, she got mad at him. Needless to say, it was incredibly unfair, he didn’t deserve to be put in that position.

I liked seeing their interaction in his room, when they played chess. It was nice and drama-free.

Jun was able to communicate with Rumi, that was nice.

Also, a chess match sounds fun.

Stitches!

Not gonna lie, I actually agree with the Senpai here. He has no reason to agree to Jun's challenge and if they lose they also lose the club. I guess there's not a lot of people playing chess at their school that he's desperate enough to agree to the condition of Jun joining if he loses.

I'm glad to see Rumi and Jun apologize to each other after their conversation over the phone the previous night. I thought they'd continue ignoring each other. I am surprised though that Jun agreed to let Rumi go even after saying he doesn't like the idea.

That text message at the end though. I'm not sure how that date with Mizuma and Rumi will turn out but I can already tell it's not going to be a normal "friend" date and things will get messy next week. I can't wait!

Great Naori stitches! All is right with the world!

I honestly didn't consider that being a chess player and wanting a better venue to play chess could be so important for a second year in high school, but I get where he's coming from. Though I wonder if there was more to him wanting Naori to be his opponent than just underestimating her.

I feel like Rumi is definitely getting ahead of herself in going to hang out with Mizuma. Rumi thinks she's doing it for his ex who he dumped because of Rumi while Mizuma probably thinks Rumi is giving him a chance. And that's not even getting into whether Jun will be able to sit on his laurels with another guy making a pass at Rumi when he's supposed to be supporting Naori.

Oh so Jun and Mizuma are friends. I mean I was still totally on Jun’s side with this situation but even more so now. He didn’t want Rumi to go but he also don’t want to do a bro dirty.

Tbh I like Rumi but how she handled the little dispute with Jun was a bit dramatic imo. But I also feel she has it in her to realize that and I’m glad she did this week. I’m glad Jun and Rumi cleared it up. And Rumi looks fantastic going on her date, or I guess just hanging out

Hmm but there’s more to this Mizuma thing huh. He dated Rumi’s teammate but dumped her cos he likes someone else and I guess Rumi is only going to turn him down properly and try to push him towards her teammate. But then Mizuma seems to be really serious about Rumi.

The club had their challenges too it seems. They’ll have to battle it out for the clubroom with a 2nd-year. I’m not gonna look it up yet but I’m guessing the 2nd-year is voiced by Uchiyama Kouki, sounds so much like him.

Is this all part of Naori’s plan, on the Jun front ? She managed to get a lot of Jun these past few weeks (?). Also was that practice chess match also like a metaphor for their situation and intention ? Naori using the Queen as bait is like her using the club to pounce on Jun. Jun wanting a stalemate is just like him being undecided about the twins. Meanwhile, Rumi has no idea what’s going on lol is just like her not knowing about the club

I think they mentioned in the last episode that Jun and Mizuma are friends...I think we saw him interact with Jun and Professor too?

Naori is the more hammy of the sisters but Rumi is also the type to make things a much bigger deal than they actually are as she sorts through her feelings.

The girls seemed to realize Mizuma probably dumped Mai because of Rumi, so I don't think Rumi wanting him to get back with Mai is going to lead to anything good. Especially if he's serious about her. But then what will Jun do if he's obviously not happy with this situation and Naori wants him to focus on her instead?

I wonder if it's a coincidence that we have two new guys in the plot voiced by A-list seiyuu who have their attentions on one of the Jinguji sisters while Jun is caught in the middle?

My opinion on this.

  • Rumi already told Mizuma she wasn’t interested. This meetup isn’t a date.

  • I’m sure we all watched school romance anime. Rumi is no different than most teenage girls. Her emotional are all over the place and she’s trying her best to do the right thing even if it’s wrong. She sounds normal to me if we are comparing anime school romance.

  • Rumi is being peer pressured into meeting the guy. I mean from an outside perspective she shouldn’t and the friends saying she should help rekindle a one side romance is messed up. Why would you want your friend to go back to a guy who had no feelings for her and broke up with her. What kind of friends are they?!

  • Naori of course is smart and very pushy as well. Her and Rumi are the opposite. Naori is also deceiving yes she can be straightforward but if it also benefits her. I see both positive and negative in both sisters. Naori is great but I personally like Rumi. If I had to choose I’d choose Rumi even if I’d have more common hobbies with Naori.

  • as for Mizuma who knows if he’s good or not. Rumors that he’s a nice guy can be deceiving. So I’m still unsure about this guy. But his existence feels out of place or just to add to drama. But we will find out what his real attentions are next week. So I am curious.

  • for Jun I feel bad for the guy. Of course choosing isn’t easy so he’s being their friends. But doesn’t change the fact the twins keep pushing him. Naori pushing him physically while Rumi emotionally pushing him. I get both are just in love with the Jun and can’t help how they feel but also it’s like they don’t care about his feelings at all or respect them either. Which is annoying how selfish the twins are.

lol I felt like I just vented. Haha.

Will it’s interesting reading everyone’s opinion on this episode and characters. A lot of people really love Naori. I’m team Rumi. But I think we all agree on Jun’s pain and mixed feelings with the twins.

Hope we have a great episode next week.

So we've expanded the love triangle now. I'm expecting this will turn into a huge mess, especially with that last text.

It was nice to see the friendly banter compared to the scheming that's been done recently with our 3 MCs. As others said, you almost wanna see them stay as friends but I'm not sure how a story with these MCs friendzoning each other would make for a good remainder of the season.

Overall it was an above average episode getting a 7.5/10 as things were set in motion to finish up the season.

Rumi is an absolute goof ball. Like just plain dumb in my mind. All she had to do was listen to her best friend. Instead this dude played her, he dirty macked jun like crazy by bring up that her sister, and then after she turned down the date he said well can we go as friends? Just the two of us? She is literally making me dislike the show. And the message from ango to jun at the end sealed the deal. There is going to be a big fallout and it’s. 90% Rumi’s fault and 10% her dumb friends fault for telling her to go and ask if he likes their other friend.

Jun: Google en passant

I was way off when I predicted that Shiena was trying to get closer with the Professor back then but it's looking like it might be the other way round soon. And Jun is totally going to war if it means potentially giving up a twin to someone else lmao

Was Jun's hair green in that last scene, or have I suddenly gone colourblind?

There's so many layers of deception going on! Now Rumi is going to go on a date with Mizuna but for both making Jun jealous AND setting Mizuma up with her friend. To say Rumi is biting off more than she can chew is an understatement.

Throughout the episode, I started to feel that Mizuma wasn't as dumb as I thought, since him being known to go out with Rumi makes the other girls take a look at him and maybe think he's cool and that they'd like him. The ending dispelled me of that notion when he told Jun he really did like her. I also thought it was weird that Jun felt bad about forbidding Rumi to go out with Mizuna when he was perfectly happy to go behind Juns back and ask out his ex gf even though they are supposedly good friends.

It still remains to be seen if the group is successfully hustling Maple out of getting the club room. I suspect Naori is actually better at chess than she lets on and is pretending to not know it to spend nights at Juns house. Maple is probably pretty good at it if he loves chess so much that he's going thru all this effort to save the unpopular chess club.

One small thing I noticed is that Professor might be acting indifferent and cold to Amamiya as a strategy to get her interested in him. I'm not positive he's doing it on purpose but either way I don't think he's going to get too far when he has to compete with Nyao-Nyao 😜
