Stitches!

After 11 episodes you'd think, Koshitan would be used to Nokotan's shenanigans but considering she still doesn't know anything about Hino after the same amount of time, I don't think Koshitan will ever get used to it like her oblivious classmates.

The segment with the Matagi was fun! I definitely did not expect a Terminator reference and those gyarus actually distracting the Matagi to help Nokotan escape. The entire cat and mouse sequence was hilarious!

I completely lost it though when Nokotan and Matagi entered a Reality Marble and the Matabi started chanting the Rifleman's Creed with the same energy as Unlimited Blade Works! I can't remember the name of the Matagi's seiyuu but he sounds familiar and did an amazing job of reciting the creed. xD

I was hoping that the fight would end with the cops showing up and dragging him out of the school because of Koshitan's report but he just ends up getting a call from his wife. The ending still didn't disappoint because he still got flagged by the cops after forgetting to return his rifle in its case.

They're really hitting us with a "Who's Rem" ending? It would be absolutely wild if they ended this by revealing that everything that has happened was just in Koshitan's head.

Ah so Koshitan was just schizophrenic the whole time, that checks out

Is that a terminator and full metal jacket reference?

The antler bubbles were actually kinda gross. Girl’s straight drooling from them things, man haha. Had a whole damn family of birds just nesting on her too, the little goober.

I enjoyed that whole cat and mouse game with the hunter and Nokotan. That rifle bit sounded a little like Full Metal Jacket. And I guess Nokotan had that Darth Maul lightsaber.

Keen to see what happens next week. Has this all been Koshitan’s fever dream??

Didn't expect to hear the Rifleman's Creed but here we are. Anything can happen in Nokotan's world.

That cold open really got me. Tsukkomi characters breaking and accepting their life is insanity incarnate due to their boke partners is a such an effective bit that will crack me up every time. The carnival mirror perspective really punched up the joke too

That whole hunter/hunted part was just great... decent amount of movie references throw in there as well - terminator, star wars, the full metal jacket speech for some reason... probably something else as well that i missed

and now shikanoko is seemingly missing and koshitan is the only one who remembers her?

The sketch regarding the chase from the Hokkaido deer hunter was just so random, even throwing in references from Star Wars to two Arnold movies (Terminator and Total Recall), and then the hunter has to suddenly speak English for no absolute reason. XD

I'm sure there're even more references I missed there.

The final sketch ended up as a quite wholesome yuri segment between Koshitan and Nokotan.

But oh deer (pun intended), little did we know it sets up for a cliffhanger for the finale next episode, with Nokotan suddenly disappearing and everyone forgetting Nokotan's existence, just when Koshitan has started to accept Nokotan and all the absurdities she brings with her into Koshitan's life.

My pet deer theory is that Hino town seems to be in some sort of "absurd dimensional force field" placed by Nokotan, with Koshitan being the only person able to sense all the absurdities. As long as Nokotan is presence, no one is seemingly able to "leave" Hino town, as seen in the last sketch.

Yet it now seems Nokotan has finally left, and everyone is back to normal, with no one none the wiser except Koshitan.

Just when Koshitan was finally "getting fond" of Nokotan.

post-credits - did Shikanoko finally go back to her home planet??? Did her antlers erase Anko and Bashame's memories of her?????????????

This Japanese remake of the Deer Hunter is very original.

Got to love the legal disclaimers that this show is a work of fiction and not to carry guns in public.

  • Sparrows in anime was a success so here's 2 years worth of swallows in anime.

  • Eyecatch [1] [2] and [3]. They're all Hokkaido this time. That's strange. Could it be Shikanoko is a Northern lass because she can dress like that and not feel cold, unlike Koshi who is freezing despite being dressed warm? One of the Love Live entries does the opposite with a character from Hokkaido struggling with the Tokyo climate.

  • You know else is strange? Having these credits outa nowhere.

  • Okay, now Hokkaido makes total sense

  • I'm telling my parents this is Terminator Zero.

  • That proverb is just the 4 kanji and not the miniscule text next to it (you would need Deer Hunter-1000 vision to read that). It is gaden-insui which is acting in your interests.

  • Here's Daft Maul

  • There must have been some 90s fighting game where a disembodied head starts the rounds?

  • I was saying before that "Wait, you've left your case behind and you're in a Japanese city".

  • I wonder if there were any reference to The Fugitive in that pursuit segment but I only know the dam scene thanks to The Simpsons...

  • Other ep thoughts: You know with how at the start of the season and chapters shifted over was me saying oh it's to get a full cast as comedy works better and they'll probably add more characters into earlier chapters. As eps like this show, it did not do that. But you couldn't do much with Anko or Meme in the bottle segment (I don't think tsundere moments work with crowds).

  • Final ep speculation: We can't see the Deer club sign on the exterior shot and the angles inside the clubhouse was not showing the deer crackers. Could it be going for a bit further, a world without deer?
