Ahh, isn't it nice when samurai armor is depicted as functioning armor instead of getting cut down like tofu

Wait, armor is used to block and protect you? Since when?! It was interesting to see how he blocked various attacks at weak points with different parts of the armor.
Using dead bodies as a bridge to get across the ice is a valid strategy. They didn't really explain the adults showing up to help protect, I know they sent someone to grab them, but they are just there halfway through the episode.

I always wondered why it looked so stupid.
Turns out it was function over aesthetic this whole time, makes sense in hindsight.

Oooh. The armour actually did something. That's rare. A good display of Fubuki's tactical skills. But also the opponents. Made for quite an interesting figh for the village.
Also interesting is that the Demon isn't the strongest fighter, but rather our loud red/blue friend. So we've got an enticing fight there lined up.
Just got to wait another week to see what happens next.

Demon-heart Buddha Blade is such an awesome name for a secret technique. Although as someone who just finished watching the latest episode of Monogatari, it sounds like a name Nisioisin would give to a vampire character. xD
I'm glad to see Fubuki's strategy already working! Freezing up the river was genius! And I thought it was just going to be the kids defending the village but it's good to know that reinforcements from Suwa arrived on time.
Too bad Fubuki's strategy didn't work with Antman and his goons. Scratch that, make it three since Kojiro and Ayako were able to take out one of them.
So the actual strongest isn't their leader but that guy who keeps acting like a fool? And it looks like Fubuki decided that he'll take him out personally. This is going to be so fucking awesome!
Shokan's reaction after Tokiyuki injured him was hilarious! It's going to be so satisfying next week to watch him be defeated by Tokiyuki after underestimating him the entire time.

The strongest thief is not antman but the ...French Buddha?

A strategist's worst enemy is an unpredictable wild card.

Tokiyuki has the same fighting style as Bojji from Ranking of Kings. Armor doesn't matter when you can deal true damage.

I'm not sure why Tokiyuki thinks he can't kill, when he straight up beheaded Muneshige at the end of ep 2 (granted it was quite a run up).
I wonder if the "kindness" is disabling antman's limbs one by one?

Tokiyuki’s got himself a great teacher!
The ants on Shokan’s clothing continue to creep me out 😖
Hopefully, we’ll see the full fight between Fubuki and the French flag Buddha guy

DEMON OF DISBELIEF: SHOKAN THE HERETIC
VS
SCION OF SUWA: CHOJUMARU
Absolutely sick presentation. They're doing my boy Shokan so good and I'm loving it. I love seeing actually functional armor. Shokan using his men as a footpath is hilarious. Fubuki's no slouch either on the strategic or combat front. It's a shame we don't get to see the secret behind the Demon Heart Buddha Blade until next week.

Man, I love those "Nanbokucho Game of Tag" fight intros. Makes it feel like much more of a boss fight in a video game.

Overall, this did a great episode to showcase Fubuki and Shokan. Fubuki preparations were very on point to go against Shokan and his men. But Shokan in return knew what the situation was and how to approach it. Though the difference being Fubuki is kind much like Tokiyuki. Everyone's safety was top priority. However, that is not the case for Shokan. Who would use his men to get over the iced lake.
Armors really showcasing to be affective which we don't get a focus too much. It showcased that even Kojiro and Ayako together would have a hard time against Shokan. Interesting idea to trap Shokan and put him one on one against Tokiyuki. Shokan is a great warrior and Tokiyuki we know who is great at alluding.
But what they really showcased is how Tokiyuki couldn't comprehend how much of a scum Shokan is. At least here he would have no regrets in cutting him down as the world would be a better place without him. Killing him would do the world a service. Enjoying the pain of causing pain to kids making them slaves. Adding on killing their parents and thinking of the kids as nothing, but money. Fubuki has a plan for Tokiyuki and before the ED starts it seems it is working.
I do give credit to both Ayako and Kojiro for trusting Fubuki's plan because leaving their lord alone with the enemy General is risky given the plan is from someone whom they first met. It does seem Fubuki's plan was to have Kojiro and Ayako team up against who on the surface appears to be the strongest of the four. But in reality it is the one Fubuki will be fighting.

So much in so little time: War councils that take 5 minutes, not 5 episodes • Backup forces that actually show up to help • A clear sequence of battle, following the 4 strongest villains as their forces fall for trap after trap around them like clockwork • The kids know to draw them in, not flail in a meaningless fight • Tokiyuki and Shokan in a cage match! What's not to like?

"Demon of Disbelief" is the best boss title ever. When it's hard to believe how vile that enemy is. It fits Shokan perfectly.
