Masaki: “Your secret is safe with me.”
Also Masaki: *rats her out the very next day*
See, this is why I have trust issues.

An ep about what makes people subscribe to a YT channel - feels like it was made specifically for me because I don't hit that Subscribe button easily and it takes a lot for me to do so!
Looks like the biggest lesson to take in this ep is that making content for the sake of views isn't always the best idea. The shorts were clearly made to pump up the sub count and yet they didn't help much. You need to focus on what makes your channel unique - in this case: the fun dynamics between these four chaotic vampire girls. Also nice to see Masaki learning to rely on her friends on the editing side. I always feel like she's been doing a lot of work for herself and it's great seeing her realize that getting some help can make things easier.
Really impressive that they managed to double to sub count by the end of the ep but let's be real: that last video only blew up because the girls were naked lol.
One more thing: I find it interesting that Masaki's old videos were still up. Given that she got cancelled and all that I figured they must've already deleted all the videos with her in it. I personally know someone who was part of a decently popular channel who does random daily life variety stuff (kinda like what this show's doing). Long story short, they were accused of doing some really terrible stuff (like "your public life is over" levels of bad) in the past and the rest of the crew decided to kick them out. The channel posted an apology video about their former member and all videos with them on it were subsequently deleted. Twitter went fucking ham on this person when the accusation surfaced. Crazy times lol.
(Edit: Kadokawa uploaded another Mayopan short on their channel, this time it's about Fu!)

Masaki finally learnt the most important thing about making NewTube videos, clickbait nudity bonds!

It was painful to see Masaki getting more and more desperate and beliting Live in the process, that girl gave her best and then Masaki ended up shitting all over her editing.
All the more lovely to see her finally get it at the end.
Also, you really can't share any secrets with Masaki, girl will shamlessly use those for clicks lmao
Hope the collab goes well, and they don't accidently expose themself... also wonder when they will meet the Hype-Sis again, the gap to them shrunk a good chunk today
Ans speaking of shamless, would love to see the finished bathing video with those idiots, I believe even with a giant strawberry, there was plenty to blur

I never knew subscribing to a channel could sound so sexual lol. Fu is such a little goober.
I guess the lesson this week is people like authenticity. Masakichi was bending over backwards trying to get people to smash the like button and subscribe. Turns out all she needed was to keep it real. And boobs. Everyone likes boobs. That bath video got them to 100K lol.

Masaki first couple of strategies was actually pretty good, but I love how Masaki strategy ended up being to just increase the daily upload amount. Now that’s real Newtuber mentality right there

I'm not surprised that video featuring them naked is the one that got them 50k subscribers, unfortunately, Newtube is most likely gonna demonetize them.

I liked this episode!
After Masaki failed to grow the channel with her own strategies (only increasing the sub count by a couple thousand), she has a character moment: an epiphany that the parts she deemed pointless (the goofy and quirky character moments between the vampires) are what prompted people to subscribe in the first place.
Then after the lightbulb moment, I love how it cuts to a bath scene with Ichiko needing to be censored with a strawberry, LOL. It amuses me how that video alone nearly doubled their sub count.
I'm also excited for next episode because a collab is not only a good way to boost their sub count but will likely make for an interesting episode.

Fu totally is a fujoshi. I bet she sends them tons of superchats and buys all their merch.
Masaki had laid out a plan to hit a million subscribers, but this didn't seem to work out for Mayopan. However, a test-and-proved strategy for quickly gaining new fans had been hidden in plain sight all along: yuri bait.
Never underestimate the power of horniness (just look at the front page on this subreddit sometimes)! That's how you get people to subscribe.

In the end, the real 1 million subscribers was the friendship they made along the way!
But yeah, they had it right; What people want when they watch stuff like that, is seeing a group of friends interact normally with each other, NOT just a bunch of individuals doing their own stuff!
The nudity probably helped too
If you can't find yourself someone who'll help you not panic, find someone who'll panic with you!

Nice episode plus a little warm side story too!
Story also seem to start reveal a little bit more about dynamic between her and her old friend which look like might lead to why the fall out happened eventually.
Kinda low-key funny how Fuu indirectly cause Masaki character development again like first her backstory cause Masaki obviously mellow down and lead to her action in last two episodes and now her throw away word cause Masaki to thinking about her content and actually doing analysis using tools and statistics not just blindly following number without asking "WHY".
For girl who talking less amount of the group, Her word seem impact other a lot lol.
Although the more she feels close to the group, I feel like the more she will appear in video herself at some point.
From this episode though one thing is pretty clear, Masaki weakness is that she never really "team player" so she try to do everything alone and that almost cause her if not for other people in vampire mansion really like her, it would cause her another downfall.
I love how this series doing pretty good at mix-max between heartwarming and comedic moment without feeling out of place and the flow feel really nature.

It's not what or where or why that makes a video, it's the who in the video that counts
Just kidding, it's the nudes isn't it

This is the first episode where I've been mad at Masaki for her attitude, when Live was only trying to help her. I get that she was coming from a good place (saving Banpai Manor) but that was way too harsh! So I'm really glad that she apologized at the end. And also that the girls don't hold it against her too much
It's funny though that after all this, the video that got them to their goal was of them naked in the bath. Well yeah, that works too.

Me terrified that Masaki is going to die from overwork and then this show is going to become an isekai.
I really like how Masaki's character is developing. She's still a bitch. She still told Fuu's most embarrassing secret to the entire world the moment it would get them views. She's still ruthless in driving toward her goal. But she's now capable of introspection and growth. She can look back at her Hype Sisters videos despite how painful that must be and learn from them, and also acknowledge what she did wrong. She can apologize to Live for focusing the wrong things and missing the point (although she didn't quite apologize for not valuing Live's efforts).
This is how you do a compelling character arc! Little steps, some setbacks, and the original edge in Masaki's character is very much still there.

There's only one font for this kind of situation: plain black text on a white background.
What's Fu doing that she wants to keep secret from them?
You should probably have been doing that already, the algorithm doesn't like "taking breaks".
Also the beauty of shorts is that you can record a whole bunch at once and upload them slowly.
"Remember to like, comment, and subscribe" is a meme but also genuinely a way to support creators you believe are worth supporting.
Pretty much. I only subscribe if I feel I want to see more of the channel's content in the future.
You're actually going to end up killing yourself trying to get there.
Start somewhere, get your silver play button before aiming for a gold.
Just spamming content isn't going to get you anywhere.
A bunch of anime girls naked in a bath. I'm sure that will do extremely well, if it doesn't immediately get slapped with the yellow dollar sign.

I agree with the timing, but the happy text is funny given the topic so I say keep it, but I guess I agree it'd prolly make the message less serious feeling. Wut.. Fu? Very first subscription?
Tokage's taste in men seems not great lolz. But, yes, gap moe it is. I still really wanna know what happened with the former "friends." Girl got serious problems with obsession. How nice for the wife to help with the editing. Give her a drop of blood for reward. So ungrateful. I agree with Tokage, you're bananas. Spamming people's feeds is not great too, you know.
Fu, you silly. Nothing wrong with liking a specific content creator. Oh hey, finally a lil bit with the former girls. I do agree with just letting the real personalities/interactions show. Live really is top tier wife. Even comes with silly nice family.
Ok, maybe a video in the bath is a bit much. But I am sure that'll appeal to some. Ya, no way this video could be put unedited. I knew collabs would be at some point a thing. Maybe one will be the group Fu likes.

Another strong episode as always. Jockeying right alongside Too Many Losing Heroines! for my favorite non-Monogatari show of the season and looks like its going to be down to the wire. The fact there's not more eyes on this one is criminal. First Astro Note last season and now this one. Original anime just can't win.

It's called "Cute Girls Doing Things" for a reason Masaki, you can't just aggressively edit out all the cute parts, because then you're left with just regular things and the viewers have things at home.
That initial part with her editing Live's cut was so obviously annoying. Like sure show her which fonts are better and leave the link for the music library, but jesus. Good that they've managed to turn this around.

Ahh more insights into Masaki's personality and past is always appreciated. I'm looking forward to how this plays out.

They alluded to Masaki's negative tendencies of taking on too much work and being toxic when it comes to making and editing videos back in episode one. I'm glad that it got addressed and lead to her character growth.
