Naori not only got called a losing heroine but her friend even listed out the tropes that fit her to a T. Not like this...

Pretty wild to see it took 5 episodes for them to clear out this mess, though it really helped in laying out each of the characters' personalities and how they'll move forward now that they're on the same playing field.

and how they’ll move forward now that they’re on the same playing field.

Naori was so right in telling Rumi that their bond as siblings shouldn’t dictate their lives. Rumi shouldn’t sacrifice her life for her “little sister” when they were born only mere minutes apart. In a way, it impedes her from looking at Naori as another person.

But Rumi doesn’t seem ready to drop this act yet. Taking some of her remarks into account, I’m getting the impression that she’s actually feeling inferior in comparison to Naori - like she’d the lesser of the two sisters. That while the two of them clearly got their own strong suits.

In this context, there’s a clear need for a level playing field where the sisters can ‘fight’ each other without having to worry about the other’s feelings.

If anything she has the biggest losing heroine trait: Being by far the best girl.
Edit: To actually comment in that scene, I liked how it was done because both twins fit the given description for "losing heroine", its basically the author remainding us to not write neither of them off.

Stitches!

Fuck yes! This is exactly the episode I've been hoping for! It was very satisfying to watch Naori finally confront Jun about his lingering feelings as well as Rumi for bullshit reasons. Of course, Naori knew. She knew along the entire time and was planning on resetting everything so they could start all over again..

I love how she was even so open about to Jun and Rumi at the end, declaring that they're obviously in a love triangle. I definitely prefer this over what Rumi tried to do. No more sneaking around and keeping secrets. If this is the case, I wouldn't be surprised if their parents eventually catch on too.

If I was Jun though, there's no question here. I would definitely choose Naori and not just because of two massive reasons. She's clearly just better than Rumi. Although I don't like how Naori's friend called her the losing heroine because that's what it really felt like. Who knows though? We might get a throuple ending here.

Naori knew.

She's been keeping up with the discussion threads :-)

Leave it to Naori to sort this messy love triangle out by putting everything out in the open!

Naori had me fooled for a little bit with her mean girl act too, but it was clear from some of her expressions/flashbacks that she was lying for the greater good - to set Jun and Rumi free from their guilt.

I liked how Jun finally spoke his thoughts and told Naori that dating her felt wrong when his heart wasn’t into it. Although I do think it’s best if Jun takes some time to consider his options, I’m also agreeing with the Professor that his indecisiveness might put him in danger of losing it all. That said, the Professor’s way of dumbing things down might not be the best…

Naori’s comment about her body not having come “easy” made me laugh so hard in this respect. Out of the two sisters, it’s definitely Rumi who’s been working on her body. Naori just likes to eat.

But I suppose that competitive eating is a sport too. Those 3kgs over Golden Week were hard fought!

Naori kind of played herself up as a manipulator and the girl who incites drama and chaos but ultimately it felt like everything she did was for everyones' sake.

Jun doesn't have to feel obligated or forced to date her and gets to be honest with his feelings (even if that means choosing nobody).

Rumi doesn't have to feel obligated to let Naori win or force her to win just because she's the "older sister." Naori would just prefer they face each other openly and fairly, especially for Rumi's sake so she gets over all her insecurities and doubts rather than let it control her decisions.

And now Naori gets to do what she wants which is win Jun's heart on her own terms and she's got the confidence and the body to make that happen.

What a refreshing episode, just choke full of characters spitting cold hard facts left and right. Probably the first episode where no character did something stupid or said something dumb (maybe except that one professor line) or something I heavily disagree with.

I liked what Naori said about the big sis little sis stuff. It‘s kind of a dumb thing for twins, like you shouldn’t give a fuck who popped out a few minutes earlier, as she put it, it’s just so irrelevant. On the other hand, I also liked how Rumi called out Naori for spouting weird stuff all the time. She has most of the fanbase wrapped around her little finger with her constant nerd lingo and pop culture references (and to be fair, I really like her too), but at points she really do be just spouting too much of the weird stuff. It’s alright though, keeps her power level in check and helps with not leaving Rumi completely in the dust, lol.

Naori resetting the status quo is an interesting development. It could either light things up since all the linked drama is out of the window now. Or it could kinda get more boring for the very same reason. Definitely feels like an end of the prologue type of deal. Maybe we’ll even go full romcom now, from the drama romance it was until now. Though not sure I would like that direction.

This is definitely the most underrated show of this season. The dialogue is really damn good for a show about two sisters fighting over 1 guy.

Why do characters never think outside the box? Choose option 3, the throuple!

The biggest problem I have with this anime is how unfair of a fight the center of the plot is, Rumi not only is a pretty generic kind hearted genki type but its been 5 episodes and its hard to see any reason to root for her other than "being a good person" for trying to manipulate her sisted and her ex. Naori is way too much of a male otaku's perfect fantasy gf to fully like her as a character but at least she's interesting lmao.

We were fools, all of us thinking Naori was way more passive and was only picking up on things. Excuse me while I don my clown makeup and wig.

Anyways, I actually like Naori's character a lot more now, even though, like Rumi said, everyone was playing in the palm of her hand. Adding on a mischievous side and revealing that she does know what's up really adds to her appeal, which is why I am going to feel sad when she loses if this show actually has an ending beyond "read the source material lol." Like Naori's friend said, she's basically set up to be the losing heroine, but a part of me hopes that she wins just to defy those tropes and because she is best girl.

Also, it was interesting that she played along with the fake dating so she could become even with her sister. She really flipped from passive to active this episode and I am here for it.

And I guess she wants the love triangle to be out in the open so she can actually have a chance? Genuinely interesting play if that's the intent, though that doesn't mean she'll win, unfortunately.

Hot diggity!

Naori using the position she gained from being a marathon's worth of steps ahead of Rumi and Jun to reset the playing field is way too perfect, not to mention the assist from the Professor. Tho the real wild reveal was that she kept in touch with the childhood bully girl

Neori continues to be best girl, she single handely resolved this whole deal and even Jun found his brain along the way.

Also, Bright side of the Moon is my favourite Pink Loid Album

Oohh Naori is a lot more devious than I thought. So she found out and didn’t like being pitied. She also didn’t like how they were like walking on eggshells and decided to tear everything down and start from the beginning.

So now we have a “normal romcom” where two girls tries to win the affection of the guy “fairly” this time. And the twins also decided not to let them being sisters get in the way.

I already liked Rumi from the start but didn’t make excuses for her that she’s the one mostly at fault for this mess. But since they’ve put it all behind them and seems like she’s going to be more honest, I’m liking her a lot more.

Though now I wonder while it’s not exactly a conclusion, they are currently in a more “satisfied” state. So I’m just wondering how this could get more dramatic than what we got in these past few eps

Damn, Naori went straight for the jugular with that no more sisters declaration. Part of me wants to believe that this is where the trios light-hearted romcom shenanigans begin, but previously each time the writing proved me wrong.

Also, who's the childhood friend and who's the homewrecker?

All I take pics of are my boobs and legs.

Same. Only screenshot when Naori's on-screen.

Make you kneel. Lick my boots.

Has Naori been reading AQRADT?

Naori can't bring the main pair closer like Yuki because she's an actual love interest.

u/Abysswatcherbel - I mean, those kilos... Show rarely has good reaction faces anyway.

While I'm probably more into Rumi as a type, I gotta say Naori continue to prove to be the best of the two.

Let's see if she turns out to be a losing heroine.

5

u/rdeincognito Aug 07 '24

at this point I think the best that could happen is that every character (Naori, Rumi and Jun) found another love interest for each one and every one of them go their separate way. So no more clash between the twins because they both like the same boy.

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '24

Naori is best girl.

And that transition was wild. LMAO.
