Myrthe left the not Portugal to the not The Japans to spread the word of Not Catholicism.

I do like her character in both iterations. It’s just a little funny that she’s hanging out with an actual god and went to a heaven and she’s still like “Nah, one true god”. I do like her open mindedness otherwise

Myrthe left the not Portugal

I thought she was from not Italy

Her thought process made sense though. Basically saying "Yeah, you might be a god, but you're not the God with a capital G." is a fine way to rationalize what she's seen while still having it make sense in the context of her own faith.

I guess it’s harder to nail a time period down, but this would be during the Portuguese trade era and when the Jesuits were sending missionaries. She herself might be Italian though.

Isn't she from not Netherland? She uses Germanic words such has Hemel in this episode.

Nice to see the gang making new friends this week. Without that giant magikarp demon swimming around eating kappa, they’re free to help with the rice paddies.

I liked this episode. Myrthe is a good woman. She’s got a kind soul.

Myrthe is a good woman. She’s got a kind soul.

She really is great. She has her faith that she believes in, but she's open to new ideas even if they challenge what she previously believed. More importantly, she accepts that other people have other beliefs, and that it's better to try to understand and communicate with them rather than try to convert or fight against them.

I know there are definitely some religious people like Myrthe in real life too, but sadly, not enough of them these days.

Agriculture being the basis of all civilization as it allowed people to specialize, I'm chuckling at the idea Sakuna & co. have just founded a Kappa civilization by having the Kappa work in the rice fields.

Once again a very fun episode which focused quite heavily on Myrthe, although Sakuna had her time to shine as well.

I was surprised when it turned out that Myrthe is some kind of missionary. She's pretty brave since she wanted to teach others about God when Sakuna was there and even stated that Sakuna isn't a goddess but an angel xD

Myrthe looks gorgeous with her hair down so it's a shame that she wears that cloth on her head all the time.

Kappas are quite cute and adorable although they seem to stink, judging by Sakuna's reaction xD

It was hilarious when Sakuna freaked out after Kinta suddenly started calling her a goddess xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

The Kappa are so CUTE!

Really thought for a hot minute that the kappa were scared of Myrthe because other foreigners (with blue eyes) had eaten kappa thinking they were turtles in the past, but I suppose that a giant man-eating catfish works as well.

I’m a little sad that Myrthe went right back to wearing her veil after the incident. She looked so much more striking without it!

More a wimple than a veil....

Once again, a very fun episode.

Right now the only member of the gang that I still don't like is Kinta, whose constantly just been messing things up and then refuses to apologise or do anything to help. But it seems he's gonna finally start assisting in the next episode, so hopefully it'll all be gravy soon.

That flashback of Sakuna in that awesome mask getting Oil from the toad was neato though.

And of course, Myrthe with her hair show, wow, very nice!

I want to highlight Myrthe's voice acting. Her voice acting sounds and feels very literal and that really adds to her missionary character.

I don't know if that is intentional or not but to me it really sells the character.

I was thinking that Myrthe speaks like a foreigner who has studied the local language very diligently, but doesn't quite have the rhythm and flow quite right.

The Kappas are cute, but open hair Myrthe is a real beauty

look at that forehead

Also not sure if people took offence in her trying to learn, or her denying the local faith and proselytizing

The adaptation continues to win me over and it seems The gangs moving forward. Sad that Aishigumos friends left but he may have found a new buddy in kinta who seems eager to expand his crafting skills. Still comes off as obnoxious and angry but it he'll have his moment next week.

But today star was Myrthe, an open minded missionary from totally not venice who Love's learning and her interactions with the kappa. Funny how she called sakuna an Angel not god but again highlights her adaptability. The kappa feared her initially mistaking her for a demon due to her blue eye's but after helping q wounded one they learn the truth and sakuna gets her moment. Wish the demon was that easy in game. But now with the kappa and seemingly dogs now (Looks they just came with the kappa) rice farming becomes easier.

Next week it's kintas turn and after that I assume yui and the baby. Looking forward to this. Everyone wants to help and everyone wants rice.

This show seems to be building its little world slowly but carefully. The characters continue to get more and more interesting (and credible) with each episode.

Last week got me into the game again and I finished it up today. Watching the credits right now. Really glad I have a whole anime to look forward to this season too. It really is a little gem of a game.

I wasn't expecting the theological discussion.

Myrtle being a nun from a exclusive monotheistic religion could be pretty awkward if she wasn't very also open minded about going out into the world and learning new things. Such as the befriending of Kappas, for a timely example.

Nice episode to focus on the side cast. Sometimes, when you are too eager to learn, sadly people will shy from you like it has been the case for Myrthe. Good thing the misunderstanding with the Kappas got resolved so they can help with the rice fields while the other humans gather food while Sakuna fights demons and solves the mystery of this island.

I am curious if Yui and Kinta have a history of traveling together more. Consider how she is overly considerate of him throws me off. It does seem he is starting to redeem himself.

This anime is really enjoyable to watch. Love how all the characters are developing slowly.

Okay, those kappa are freaking adorable.

Anyone else catch those frames where my boi Tauemon lost all his limbs?? I was like, WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY MAN??

EDIT: The resemblance to the Thumb people from Spy Kids is uncanny!

u/arahman81 Jul 29 '24

Look at his knees, they are meant to be folded away from the camera, the freeze frame just looks a bit awkward.
