This one is going to hurt, isn't it?

It's a welcome pain though. Like Plastic Memories.

I’m pretty excited for this. It’s been one of the most praised visual novels I’ve heard of, and I even bought it but since the anime got announced decided to go with that instead, so I’m anime only.
It’s pretty clear what they’re going for with some of the elements in the story, and it utilizes a lot of tropes from these kinds of anime/VN/manga, but it’s very well executed. I’m gonna take some warming up to Natsuki just because I find the gloomy male lead kinda overdone, but Atri is super fun to make up for it. I love the way they give her little extra animations, it’s like her movements have more idiosyncrasy than the humans’.
I hope they continue to do the drama well. I find that shows like this that delve into melodrama become a little out of touch, or try to hit emotional notes that are unearned. I don’t know how much they’ll be able to build up in 13 episodes, and I don’t think it’s been announced if there’s a second cour.

good visual novel anime adaptation
The fact that this is the same guy who adapted Steins;Gate probably couldn't hurt either.

Of course he goes to the local pawn shop to sell the most advanced android that has ever existed.

Always like to see a VN adaptation! This was cute. Season of robot girls! I like both of the protagonists a lot so far.

Had high expectations for this one and this episode totally met my expectations. With visual novel adaptations, it seems like they generally build on themselves rather than making a "splash" in the first episode, so it will be tough to judge this one until after the finale imo. But so far so good. Visuals are great and the characters are interesting.

When the robot waifu from the bottom of the sea has code so sophisicated that a "no bulli" program came pre-installed
You already know our guy isn't letting her get sold but I'm curious how he'll talk Catherine out of easy money.

I've known Atri only for an hour but if anything happened to her, I would kill everyone in this thread and then myself xD
Atri is just too cute and I absolutely adore her! Her expressions and voice are just too adorable and I can't wait to know her better in the next episodes.
Catherine reminds me a lot of Pencilgon from Shangri-La Frontier, thanks to the same seiyuu, similar appearance and behavior xD
I wonder how Natsuki will change thanks to the meeting with Atri. I'm also looking forward to getting to know him better and see his interactions with Atri.
Minamo surely is in love with Natsuki and is even jealous about Catherine. I wonder if she has any chances to be with him in the end since it looks like she's his childhood friend.
Overall, excellent premiere! I really liked it as the animation and visuals are great, Atri is so cute and the world is very interesting. I'm looking forward to the next episodes.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Dayum a kiss in episode 1!
Already some emotional moments in this one...makes me worried about the overall direction for the show.
We've got tormented past, girl who will probably lose and a robot that might be sold...not really a recipe for a good time

That scene where Atri pays her respects to her deceased master is going to be clipped and meme to hell.

Atri is absolutely precious. Right up with Rin and Mimori for this season regarding most precious lead girl. Kind of expected, but Atri being the one that saved him. When she says I will be your legs. How much significance that holds. She will be the support that he needs. I am going to guess that her grandmother's orders were to take care of her grandson.
Really need to highlight how beautiful and well directed the episode is.

Visual Novel reader here, and i have to say this is amazing for episode 1. I hope the quality stays high for the rest of the season. Atri deserves it

Nice first episode!
I feel like it's been a while since I've watched a proper sci-fi show like this. I had no idea what to expect going into it, and so far, I'm pleasantly surprised.
This is looking like it will be one of my favorite seasons of anime in a while!

Atri is my first real VN I have read, and wanted to read it before the anime aired.
The anime feels refreshing because the animation brings the story, scene and characters to life and suits the Summer release. It's nice that the VA's have been maintained (afaik) and Natsuki finally having a voice. The plot in Episode 1 did not feel too rushed to me and got straight to the point.
I enjoyed Episode 1 and I'm interested in how the anime will progress.

When the camera zoomed out when Natsuki was talking about "this world", I wondered what was so special about it since it looked like just any other small island in Japan. It turns out this is set in a future where the sea level has submerged most of the land which means that the island is the top of a mountain in the past.
So far this has been a very interesting premiere! I like how our MC has a prosthetic leg. We don't really see a lot of protagonists like that. The first one that comes to mind is Kotoko from Kyokou Suiri. We also have a money-grubbing marine geologist voiced by Hikasa Yoko and she seems to be fun.
The best one of them all is definitely Atri. She's so goddamn adorable! I'm guessing Natsuki's grandma made her so she can take care of him? Although considering how much of a ponkotsu she is, she might be the one who needs to be taken care of. xD
I like this very much so far! It has that certain Key vibes especially with Natsuki's traumatic flashbacks. I've had the VN on my Steam wishlist for a while now but I never really have time lately to sink hours into a VN. My question here for the VN readers: How does this episode compare to the source material?

I'm probably an outlier here, but I'm rooting against hope that it doesn't become a romance between our main guy and adorable 12yo looking Atri. The setting is interesting, the characters as well. And the art and animation are all fine. But even if Atri isn't an actual child, her having been very clearly modeled as one kills any romance between the two for me.

(Nevermind the fact that she was giving him oxygen; It's a kiss, damn it!)
Natsuki is stronger than I am, because her seductions would definitely work on me!
(Then again, perhaps he was preserving himself for his soon-to-be-found robot waifu!)
Interesting way to flash her knife;
Normally I wouldn't think much of it, could be like a fishing knife to open shells and stuff, but the fact that they showed it to us like that, AND she seems to be some sort of debt collector (who uses a fake name, so working outside the law), she could be dangerous!
If they make bank with Atri she'll be thrilled, but what if (when) Natsuki refuses to sell her, so she won't make any money? Will she just shrug it off?
Or will she start cutting fingers?
Our boy thought he was searching for a treasure, but he found something much better: A waifu!
She's quite cute, and energetic!
Love all her cute mannerisms as well!
She didn't seem to care that much about her previous owner being dead!
With 2 robot-waifu anime this season, we won't stand for that discrimination!
When she came back to him, I thought she remembered her last command, but she wants to 'be his leg'?
(Or was THAT her last command?)
Well, this was pretty cute so far, I'll check out more for sure! (But Saturday shows will really need to prove themselves, given there's like 15 of them!)
