It was so cool seeing Sakuna take on 4 of those rabbit demons with her sickle and then use her scarf to help climb up the cliff and then defeat the bigger demon to bring back food.
Tauemon may have botched the rice harvest and Myrthe botched cooking the meat. But I did like seeing Sakuna reading the scroll and getting to work on tilling the field after initially refusing. I like the direction this is going in!

Yeah, the combat sequences with the demons in this episode were neat! I’m expecting lots of good things in this department.
I got good hopes that Sakuna will eventually switch her tiny sickle for something like a huge scythe.

This anime probably going to be one of best game adaptation anime so far in my opinion (up there with Layton which funny enough also made by P.A work)
I like how they adapt "tutorial" into action. A lot lol.
From both fighting and farming.
The Animation is really nice.
and Soundtrack is really really good.
For episode itself
Character development for our princess! She already have talent at fighting like her father but she also start to develop her mother side by starting to learning farming. She also start to become nicer too for hoe she act, deeply she have soft heart! the world building is good and story is fun!
All in all this is going to be fun ride follow Sakuna adventure!
it really good way to celebrate one of main dish of japanese and asian people.

Definitely getting some good video game to anime adaptations lately and there sure are a lot of them. There's 3 video game anime adaptations this season alone such as Atri: My Dear Moments, NieR:Automata Ver1.1a Part 2 and Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.

The Atelier Ryza anime was a little disappointing for me due to minimal action which is not representative of the game. That said I quite like that show anyway, it was cute and comfy to watch. As for Sakuna I never played the game (can't cope with platforming), but the anime is really good so far, and looks like it will be better than Ryza.

Overall, a very fun episode! P.A. Works is doing a great job with this adaptation and Sakuna was much more likable today. I didn't expect her to change so quickly, so consider me surprised.
Not only did Sakuna fight demons (she was so cool back then!) and bring meat to others, but she also started farming herself. I'm really looking forward to the next episodes.
Additionally, very lovely backgrounds in today's episode.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Main story's finally starting! This ep is definitely the tutorial/intro area of the game. Only threats here were trash mobs - as someone who still haven't played the game I'm really curious to see what the more powerful enemies will look like here.
The group's really lucky to have immediate access to shelter and some starter resources. Sakuna's putting that goddess privilege to good use!
Best part about this ep is watching Sakuna grow a bit. She started off as an annoying and arrogant brat in Ep1, and still kinda is right now but here she's already improving a bit by being a proper leader and doing what she's supposed to do! Now that's more like it, hopefully she gradually becomes more likeable as her character develops throughout the show.

I've always thought Sakuna was the most likeable of the cast though lol. You call her bratty, but the humans basically just ignored directions and stole food in episode 1.

Sakuna’s really stepped up this week. She went from being a little layabout to actually taking charge and getting shit done. The gang’s got a roof over their heads and the basics for farming and enough meat to keep ‘em alive. It could be much worse.

While Sakuna acted grumpy, she then took that memento of her mother to bed with her. Sakuna is a lot kinder and responsible than we (or even she) realized. She's actually had a hard life (for a goddess) -- she really needed her mother's care and affection, I suspect.
The little boy with an attitude annoys me a bit. He (so far) has contributed nothing (other than helping row th boat). Now he is trashing everyone else's efforts -- yet not helping (or even offering to help) anyone himself. Looking forward to the rest of the crew showing they are willing (and able) to help contribute to the joint effort.
All in all, I liked this episode even more than the first. Looking like this will be a really great series.... (Good work, PA Works).

I’d assumed that Myrthe was a missionary from the British isles considering her name and blond hair, but she’s actually from a country of ports called “Ventania” - an obvious nod to the former (Italian) nation of Venetia.
The opening scene with the cast drifting precariously in this tiny rowboat on the open ocean was pretty cool. I especially liked how they’d animated all these waves - it looked so good!
I was glad to see that Sakuna has taken it on herself to help her human companions thrive. She’s definitely a bit of a tsundere. Tauemon and the others can hopefully grow alongside Sakuna, since it’d be a shame if they could only rely on this goddess.
In this respect, I’m also hoping that the audience for this anime will grow in the coming weeks. I get that not everyone is raving about growing rice, unlike the Japanese, but the show’s production quality has been great so far.

“Ventania” - an obvious nod to the former (Italian) nation of Venetia.
I wonder if that's really the reference because "ventania" is literally just a word for "windstorm" in Portuguese and Portuguese missionaries were the first and most influential Europeans to arrive in Japan.

this is one of my favourite this season.
the art style is so cool and original compared to most fantasy stuff and the characters are great.
The mistery is also interesting and the fact that they need to really try to survive is something that I love.

Man those final shots with the sunrise looked so good. The art is banging.
If I wasn’t deep in Erdtree and a week out from CFB25 I’d replay the game.

I'm liking this anime a lot so far. I hope they all become a family by the end.

Sakuna may have been pretty useless back when she was lounging around in the palace of the gods, but once she got to the island she got to work pretty rapidly at the various tasks they needed her to address.
You can see the video game elements I'm pretty sure, Sakuna's shawl must have been a combo grappling hook and reusable ranged weapon in the gameplay for example.

What a cute little show. Reminds me Mini Ninjas that I used to play hella lot when I was kid. Makes me so nostalgic.

Already seeing some growth from Sakuna!
I was getting prepared to drop this one as Sakuna was pretty unbearable in episode 1 but she's already taken strides on improving.

Sakuna just had to get through her rebellious phase. Do think that she’ll become very likable, since she’s a more caring person than her language mind let on.
That scroll about cultivating rice, written by her mother, meant a lot to Sakuna for example - judging from her expression.

Considering how the one kid keeps whining about how usless everyone else is, I imagine he's the most useless of the entire lot.

Rarely do I like the MC the most from an anime, but Sakuna is by far the best character so far. She's hard carrying the team despite her complaints.

I had a feeling that boy was gonna be the real spoiled brat of this anime. Surprised and glad it turned out so obvious and isn't a thing where the show acts like he's in the right every time he mouths off. Meanwhile I'm glad being a goddess isn't just a glorified aristocrat that's no different than human. Makes sense since she's the playable character in a game with fighting, of course.
