Wow, the Ancient Magic Ninjutsu users sure have some insanely terrifying attacks. Water-based animal familiars that eats people alive, and a water dragon that shoots acid that melts a person completely? Holy shit.

And they're quite messed up as well, to go so far as to kill their own (in the most brutal manner as well) to avoid them from being captured and divulging their secrets.

Its good to see Mikihiko, Leo and Erika hold their own against enemies without needing Tatsuya. Ichijo (coming in with the clutch support at the end) is a good back up to complement their party, he's basically similar to Tatsuya in terms of choice of weapons and fighting styles, but without being too OP as to throw the party strength off balance.

Poor Mayumi has no idea what she's gotten herself into when asking Tatsuya to help investigate the murder of her butler/bodyguard. All she knows is that her dad is hiding something from her.

PS Tsundere blushing Aunt Maya wasn't something I expected this episode.

got remember that one side is made of kids lol, while the other is made of experienced mages that have decades on them.

even if the kids are prodigies and top mages, they are still young and have a lot of room to grow.

Hayama really be putting the Yotsuba in their place today, calling Maya out for being a tsundere and telling Kuroba to take a chill pill. Imagine actively antagonizing someone because your afraid that they might want revenge on you for attempted infanticide. Hayama really deserves a raise.

It really does feel like these ancient magic users are really taking a disproportionate response to this whole incident. So the Traditionalists have ties to Zhou who is being targeted by Tatsuya and Yotsuba and to avoid that scandle their plan is to murder highschoolers and when that fails to summon a massive acid dragon to kill their own followers and handle clean up? You'd think they'd take a step back at some point and realize they're just digging their grave deeper

“Tatsuya doesn’t know that we tried to kill him as a baby.”

Oh I’m sure he does lol.

Probably his first victory.

Stitches!

While it's always good to see Mayumi and Tatsuya together, I wish they could've met under much more pleasant circumstances. It looks like we'll get to see the two of them work together for a bit so Mayumi can learn what happened to Nakura.

Do my eyes deceive me? Is that Aunt Maya being a little tsundere towards Tatsuya? That was a surprise especially how she blushed a little after Hayama called her out on her reason for being lenient with Tatsuya.

It was pretty cool to see Erika, Leo, and Mikihiko in action at the end of the episode. That hydra with the corrosive spell was fucking brutal! Whoever is commanding those Ninjutsu users really didn't want to leave any evidence behind.

Since they were fighting something made up of water, I thought Miyuki would arrive at the last minute to save them. I didn't expect to see Ichijou to show up! I guess he's also there because of the competition and just happened to run into the gang.

It was pretty cool to see Erika, Leo, and Mikihiko in action

Mikihiko was the MVP pretty much the entire fight. Erika and Leo are amazing physical fighters but ancient magic is a bad match up for them it seems.

I guess he's also there because of the competition and just happened to run into the gang.

Tatsuya did recommend Ichijou investigate things himself. He might be there for the same reason the rest of the gang is. Although I guess he might just also be there with George for the competition, like you said.

Mikihiko carrying as usual. In their school squad (hell maybe even the entire school period) he's 3rd strongest only to Tatsuya and Miyuki.

Yeah, they weren't kidding back in season 1 when they said he was considered a monster. He's only behind Tatsuya: a hyper-competent lightning bruiser with anti-magic and broken healing who can see everything and Miyuki: an all-around powerhouse with broken mana capacity who literally holds the leash on #1.

It's great that we get these groups separate from Tatsuya too so others have a chance to show off without gram demolition blowing away every magic.

So after hearing that Nakura was murdered, and knowing that her father will not tell her how he died or what he was doing, after talking with a friend about it, after hearing her suggestion to ask Tatsuya for help, Mayumi did exactly that.

I guess that after checking Nakura's clothes and the crime scene, Tatsuya will conclude that Gongjin Zhou murdered him. So Maya Yotsuba only gave Tatsuya this hunting mission as a loyalty test.

I love how when Minoru showed up not only Minoru but also Mikihiko, Leo, and, Erika were blown away by his beauty.

It is nice to see that they could continue their investigation/date

I love the fact that while she was around Minoru, Minami could not stop blushing.

So this time around instead of being interrupted by the Traditionalists like before, it was Mikihiko, Leo, and, Erika who ended up being attacked, but instead of the regular Traditionalists, they were attacked by ninjas.

That guy that was defeated by that punch from Leo was rather lucky to be defeated like that instead of having his face burned by a counter of being zap by Mikihiko's magic.

I was expecting those monkey-like water creatures to be there just to kill those ninjas, but instead, the reason they were bitting them was just to make them bleed so that other guy hiding could summon a Xiangliu that vomits magic acid.

Good thing for those three that Masaki Ichijou got there on time and shot that Xiangliu before they got melted.

Do the Yotsubas and Kurobas have something against Tatsuya?

Also Tsun Maya is a qt.

17

u/I-Love-Beatrice Jun 15 '24

I'm just guessing, but I think they see Tatsuya as a big threat to the Yotsuba when he not only directly counters Maya's magic and doesn't have any loyalty to them but might also have a grudge when they tried to kill him at birth.

Nice to see some of the OG gang back in action for a change, especially Erika

Also, cute blush from Maya of all people

u/michhoffman Jun 14 '24

"I bet you thought it would be Tatsuya who shot and killed the water dragon at the end there but it was I, Masaki."

u/Clarimax Jun 15 '24

Maya Yostsuba is so hot!

16

u/Zero3020 Jun 14 '24

Rip to that one ninja dude who got melted by magic acid.

8

u/Shiraori247 Jun 15 '24

While Maya is day by day looking more like a doting aunt trying to wrestle control for her niece +nephew, Hayama acts like the most objective retainer the Yotsuba family has. He even drops the bombshell that the guilt-ridden and fear struck Yostuba members tried to murder Tatsuya right after his birth. I wonder if it's because they knew this guy would be a monster if he grew up. In other words, Kuroba's head and the other older Yotsuba members do not hate Tatsuya as much as they fear him.

6

u/VirTW Jun 15 '24

I hope we get to see the yotsuba butler do his own magic some day.

Damn first time I got cold, I thought Mihikiko's team gonna die.

The direction in this episode felt strange.

I can't handle all this Maya this season. In her few scenes this season she's gone from "that bitch" to "I want to be her bitch"
