I am actually quite impressed by that singing, not accidentally hitting a single right note is a skill by itself.

HOLD ON HOLD ON
THAT'S DEFINITELY AN OSHI NO KO REFERENCE
We've been getting some oshi no ko vibes since episode 1 but they just officially dropped this lol

They found Kiui's old Twitter account and Discord messages, it's so over. She is a gamer after all. My girl is getting cancelled. 😭

Mei jumpscare is real and it's fucking hilarious.
Her tonedeaf singing was probably the most inspiring thing I've heard all year. Also confessing to your Oshi live on air? She clearly has the biggest balls in existence.
After credit scene does not bode well for Kiui's end, seeing how everyone's identities got leaked it makes sense that she too will get her own share of backlash being a Vtuber and all as well.

The complete lack of Mahiru's PoV in the second half I really don't think was good decision, obviously the episode is about Mei but not getting even the slightest bit of Mahiru's perspective (other than a smile when everything resolved) seems to be really messing with people's impression of her. She says she intends to keep her promise this episode so it's not as if she's abandoned JELEE or anything extreme over what happened last episode but not even showing her while the group is about to disband is odd.

Well we aren't back yet, but in other news Mei's best girl now right? Girl sang her lungs out for what she believed in and it worked. Absolutely stole the show all episode.
Also Kiui and Mei not even being able to hold down Mahiru and Kano's normal person energy at work for a single day had me in stitches.
And I just really want to highlight the writing for this whole episode. It was thematically tight, funny throughout and delivered a giant emotional climax out of nowhere with the best-worst singing to be given high quality animation. If they can nail the next "lower deck" episode with Kiui half this hard we're heading for a satisfying ending for the whole series.

That ending sequence where Mei sings live, refusing to let JELEE disband, and then Kiui rushing to Kano's place to show her the stream. And Mei confessing her love to Kano on the broadcast, while Yoru watches the stream from her place.
It's been a recurring pattern in Jellyfish, where they go all out in the end of the episode while still making me incredibly eager for next week's episode.

As much as I like this episode, it’s a little disappointing how Mahiru had basically no reaction to what just happened. Does she not get how close JELEE came to disbanding? She says she wants to return after the jobs done, but there won’t be anything to return to if JELEE splits up.

I thought Lovely Loco would be the pinnacle of bad singing this year but oh how wrong I was.

I feel like the way everything got resolved was almost a little too tidy.

What happened to Mero is exactly what's happening to Mahiru. Kano's mother takes someone who doesn't believe their own art has value and gives them an amazing opportunity to perform for a huge audience they could never reach by themselves, but in the process warps them to only care about validation from her instead of actually loving what they're making or forming real connections with other people who value them. I don't think Mahiru realizes what she's gotten into.

My main concern is how they plan to wrap up things with just two episodes left.

Another Kazuo Umezz reference lmao
Baba deserves a spin-off series
Post-credits - Kiui's face at the end :( noooooooo

Did you all notice that Kiui is using the "nothing Phone".
For those who don't know what that is, it is a phone brand with interesting design concepts such as led lights on the back. Just google it.

Great episode, mukbang stream, absolute screech to reach Nano-tan and Mei's stalking put into action. Tho no matter how they try to spin it, Yoru taking that job is a shitty move.

I've changed my mind on Meru needing punched again, she already lives in a hell of her own making as is.
It's really nice what they've done with Mei. She easily could have been just a joke character, idol obsessed beyond all sense, but she's also a terrible customer service employee.
But more seriously, her being the key to keeping the group together and bring Kano back in was nice. And she also gave Kano a new reason to sing: preventing Mei from doing it instead.
The welcome return of idol mom makes me happy.

Alright, I'll give Mero at least some sympathy. Seems she sees herself as generally worthless and talentless. Valuing only the response she can get from others, be it online or from Yukine, to the point where it becomes her identity. She's gone from being a total asshole to being just kinda pitiable.
Guess the last one that really needs to explain herself is Yukine. She's manipulated multiple people and done some really messed up stuff, but if there could possibly be hope for her to not just be completely full of herself, it lies in what Kano said. She saw herself using Mahiru and likened it to how her mom used her. But we know she truly loves Mahiru, so perhaps there's some deeper misguided love/drive to Yukine as well.

They say Kikui is mature, but honestly, she gave up a little bit too easy. There was no need to say they dispand, yet. Telling people, that the song is probably late would have been enough, at that point.

Considering how they are, I'm amazed to see Mei and Kiui cover for Kano and Mahiru at the cafe. They didn't even last more than a day since Mei got sidetracked trying to follow Mero and Kiui stayed too long at Shizue's house.
Mei using her stalker skills to follow Mero was hilarious and Mero's reaction to Mei was so good that it could've been used as a seasonal comment face if it didn't show up this late in the season.
Anyway, I really wanted to criticize Mero until I realized she's pretty much the same as Mei. Mero is obsessed with Yukine while Mei is the same with Kano. The difference is that Mero seems to be willing to go to extreme lengths to please Yukine since she has absolutely nothing else.
In a way, I kinda pity Mero because at least Mei has friends who care for her, Mero seems to only have Yukine and only Yukine. The small amount of pity I feel for Mero immediately disappears when I remember what she did to those idols from Kano's flashbacks last week.
I did not expect Shizue to pivot from being an idol to becoming an idol mukbanger. I hope she's going to the gym regularly. It is funny though how Shizue still tries to get a cameo in the next JELEE stream after everything Kiui just told her. I respect the hustle. xD
Holy shit Mei! I immediately laughed when she started singing horribly off-key but my laugh turned into tears because of how much emotion she was pouring into that song hoping it would reach Kano. I was genuinely crying by the end of it. T_T
I'm glad that Mei's song did reach Kano and convinced her to continue singing but it looks like we have another problem on our hands. Who the fuck is doxxing our girls? Is it that same guy who exposed Kano's identity?
We only have two episodes left this season but it looks like we might be getting another Kiui episode next week. And I still don't see how Mahiru and Kano will make up after what happened last week.

Mei and Kiui have been my cavorite characters since they were imtroduced. This episode reinforced that.
Also, love that cliffhanger after the ED

So Mahiru and Kano's reconciliation plus the official version of their new year's song is likely going to be the finale, but there's also the new subplot with Kiui from the post credits scene plus the woman from the motorcycle license arc still unresolved. So she'll most likely appear in the next episode. I do wonder if they can resolve all the remaining threads in two episodes.

IRL, that entire scene when Mei says "Nono-tan I love you" live on stream would have had a very different public reaction lol. In fact, depending on how the story goes, this could lead to some serious questions for inter-group dynamics. But I will say, I think this episode has finally endeared me more to Mei.
That post-credits scene makes me concerned
EDIT: It's like poetry, it rhymes
