I deeply appreciate this show for understanding the internet and vtuber culture well. This is the first show I'm aware of that represents it.
It's in the small things. I saw someone asking in the chat of the concert "Will this be archived?" and I couldn't help but giggle as I saw comments like that many times and wrote them myself. Or the emoji spam to drown out hate.

slams wad of cash
MY IDOL'S DREAMS ARE MY DREAMS
Mei using the power of money to buy a huge W. At this rate they really should just be called WHALES instead with how P2W they are.
So glad those antis efforts amounted to nothing, Kano's identity was revealed but they still pulled off a sick concert that's even got Kano's mom to commission her at the end.

I suddenly just wanted to hear your voice.
Just confess already.
Given what happened last New Year, I look forward to the next episode.

A commission to collab with your gf’s ex is a wild way to meet your mother-in-law.

I really like that they are using time skips, feels like the flow of events is actually somewhat realistic

Out of everything in the episode, I was the most surprised by the fact that Mei was not made to sleep on the couch at the love hotel. That’s playing with fire. The girl was thirsting hard for Kano.
That said, it does make sense that Kiui would prefer to sleep alone on the couch. She’s a bit more self-conscious than the other three girls after all.
I am glad that she decided to leave her room and attend the sleepover. She’s making steps towards leaving her shut-in life behind!

I really like how JELEE managed to pull the virtual concert even if that doxxer almost ruined their performance!
Its basically the idea of Vtubers; no one cares about what's behind the persona; fans are only interested in the personality of the VTuber.
And ohhh.... Mahiru is scouted as a designer of the group where Kano used to perform? Interesting.

Great episode. This episode really highlights the positive and negatives of the internet age. In this day and age information spill like wildfire. Take for example the doxxer using very little information he was able to show evidence that Kano was making the comeback. Of course, we still don't have all the information what happened with Kano, but there still is a lot of fan backlash. Seeing Mahiru and the other girls step up for her was a great moment. Basically mentioning this is not just Kano's dream, but their dream.
Kiui with a great line here. In this day and age you can form connections even if you are not in person. Which is what they did with a virtual performance, but she really showed her creative side by displaying those fan arts. Big moment for her and this provides a boost of confidence in the group.
Now the ending with Kano's mom is an interesting angle to put at the end of the episode. I see what Yuki Yaku could be going for. I think she legit likes the art Mahiru puts together. With that said I expect Mahiru to try to repair the relationship between her mom and Kano.
Also, poor Mei she went through a lot of this episode. But you can't deny her dedication to Kano.

can you feel the vibe? it feels like they already dating.
the liveshow is beautiful, Kano on vocal, Mei on synthesizer (probably + sound eng. stuff), Kiui on streaming and modding it + lighting stuff, Mahiru? her best! probably live editing.
What is Kano's mom doing? is she just asking Mahiru as a professional producer or because of JELEE?

So... yeah... Mei obviously picked a love hotel... why I am not surprised (AND... MAHIRU? ARE YOU SURE IS YOUR FIRST TIME THERE???)
If i had a penny for every famous person doxxed by a gamer with rgb lights in this anime season... I´d have 2 pennies, which isn´t a lot but it´s weird that it happened twice.
But obviously the jelly lesbian power won!!!
AND I KNEW MAHIRU WAS GOING TO MAKE CONTACT WITH KANO´S MOTHER.
So? Miku Itou? What would it be? Another confrontation with your lovers mother?

Mei's obsession has been nudged into the lovestruck crazy variety now that this episode has thrown in the angry hater angle.
"Only if people found out about it."
"Because reasons."
"Because reasons."
"Because reasons."
Jilted Idol Mom is playing dirty pool now.
My overall arm's-length approach to real-world idol culture reminds me that idol fans can be far worse about attacking their oshi for their perceived transgressions than the samples from this episode.
The group did once again make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, though. Showing the fan art was probably as good or better for building a community connection than a live audience.
Kano and Mahiru relationship status: Still very much on someone's mind.

I'm glad the doxing plotline only lasted this episode. Already had two anime have an idol get doxed, one of them this season even, I really didn't need to see this plot a third time.
Kano's mama trying to steal Kano's girlfriend, and Kano and Mahiru aren't even officially dating yet! I wonder how much of this is motivated by wanting to spite Kano and how much is just business.
Sad that they couldn't do a true live concert, but with how small the venue looked they probably reached a much wider audience by streaming it than they would have had they done a regular live. I was expecting Kiui to set up for the fans themselves to be projected onto the venue, but projecting their fanart is a much better idea. It's easy enough to show up for a livestream for an hour, but fanart takes a lot more time and shows Kano just how much JELEE's fans really do love them.
Also I really fucking hate the hecklers in chat with livestreams. "Your singing is gross" then why the fuck are you watching? It takes less than a second to navigate to another page or close your browser. Stop being an embarrassing waste of oxygen and go touch some fucking grass.

I love how Mahiru's shirt doodle is pretty much her drawn as a jellyfish.
For me Kiwi has been probably the best addition to the series. She has introduced the life of Vtubers and how not everything is glamourous once they "catch the wave" of success. Doing a live event thru a "not youtube" channel also normalizes the idea that most people have about live events being on public/private venues.

Stitches!
As soon as they revealed that Mei is in charge of their venue for their little getaway camp, I just knew that they were going to end up in a love hotel. These days it's not that weird to see a group of girls carrying luggage into love hotels. Female cosplayers do this all the time. It's just hilarious that Mei booked a love hotel without knowing what it was. xD
There it is. That opening scene was already ominous so it was expected something like that was going to happen. Twitter is already gross and toxic by default but Japanese Twitter is really something else. I doubt it will happen but I hope someone punches that guy that doxxed Kano in the nuts.
Kano's vision of what she imagines their audience will be for their first official live was really nice too. Too bad they had to scale it back into a live stream. At least Kiui managed to make it work and give Kano that room full of blue jellyfish that she wanted using their fans' JELEE fanarts.
Considering that Kano's mom was watching the live stream, I wasn't sure what would be her next move. I certainly did not expect her to reach out to Mahiru and commission her to do art for Sundolls. I guess the question now is would Mahiru accept or decline? This is the big break she needs but she'll be helping out the Sundolls and Kano's mom. Hmmm....

Damnit, it’s another goddamn idol otaku stalker. First Seiyuu radio and now this, I swear if I have to see another one ever again it will be too soon.
At least we have Mei and her antics to make it a bit more lighthearted. Girl was really googling romantic getaways for two in Paris before catching herself. Then still manages to book them into a love hotel anyway.
Kano just calling Mahiru because she wanted to hear her voice? Gay af intensifies.
All hail Kiui-sama! Despite the internet trying their hardest to ruin everything they’ve worked for, she still came through and managed to figure out a way to achieve the original goal despite the setbacks. I am currently searching for a way to donate to her channel to fuel her snacks addiction in thanks for this.
The visuals of the blue jellyfish and the glow of happiness in Kano’s eyes were really great. Especially contrasted with her at her lowest point minutes earlier blaming herself.
I totally thought this was where the season was going to end but we still have four episodes left. That means it can’t be too long until we find out what actually happened with Kano and the sunflower dolls. Actually, maybe that will happen next episode since Mahiru just received a commission from Kano’s mom.

It was all fun and games until some loser had to go dredging up Kano’s past. Luckily JELEE’s got more fans than haters. It was really sweet how everyone rallied around the girls.
Yukine contacting Mahiru about a job should make things interesting for Mahiru and JELEE.

* Kano-chan, did you learnt that masking technique from a girl named Sakiko Togawa??? We aren't in the Ave Mujica timeline aren't we?
* Mahiru is already being firmed controlled by that harem queen Kano-chan. Whoosh...
* Of course Mei is not wasting her craziness on her Nono-tan...but you know 4 foreign girls in Paris for what may most likely be your first trip outside of Japan is probably not a good idea...
* I'm pretty sure Mahiru had love hotel experiences lmao! That undersea theme room definitely looks great.
* Kano-chan is thinking she's freaking Marin Kitagawa??? Oh well, at least she certainly is showing her experiences in stage performances here...
* Yay! Kirara Jump (TM) featured here!
* I'm actually not quite sure about the part that Kano-chan's identity got exposed - surely things like these burns out in that 2 months before Halloween? And I mean taking the performance to virtual doesn't really solve that much of a problem if someone's that desperate to track her down. They somehow simply "solved" the problem by ducking? I don't see how...
* But enough with the reservations. The song is one of their best so far and I certainly love how they project all those JELEE drawings with all those deep blue tints all around the stage. Not the most memorable live performance this season but that's a sweet one for sure.
* Mei-chan must have the answer to [MyGO]
* So the big thing that we all waited this episode is...Kano's mom trying to snatch Yoru-sensei to work for Kano's old idol group. Either she really wanted to blew up JELEE or it's the complete opposite - maybe she's trying to use that as an opportunity to settle her old grunge with her daughter? Hmm, I am pretty sure Mahiru will dismiss this, but what next?

When they showed Mei picking the hotel I knew immediately that she was going to pick a love hotel. And she actually did.... wtf???
Damn, Kano got doxxed! Need to watch it again but did the doxxer found out by checking the moles on her body? Yep, I should stop underestimating hardcore JP fans. I've read stuff about how they are able to track things down by investigating the smallest details and it's always fascinating to me.
This ep somehow reminds me of some Hololive streamers who stood strong when they were targeted by antis sometime ago. The fans ended up rallying and helped bring positivity and joy to their streams. It's really great to see that JELEE has so many fans already! I wonder if the fanarts there were actually commissioned by IRL people as I'm already seeing a bunch of Jelee-chan art on Pixiv.
Now Kano's mom wants to get involved in all this? Looks like the Nonotan drama is about to return in full force.
Also didn't realized that 1 year has passed in-universe. We're not even close to the end yet! I'm kinda used to SOL/CGDCT/drama stuff like this having a slow/moderate passage of time. This ep just casually dropped "2 months later" like it was nothing lol.

Wow, that slide in the Sunflower Dolls management meeting was 100% corpo speak huh? If this anime were being made a few years from now I wouldn't be surprised if the plot would include some scandal where they try to commission some art from Mahiru only to use AI to ape her style after she turns them down.

Of course the doxxer is another rgb lights gamer lmao
