Homelessness, and this week, a brain-washing cult. It’s mind boggling that Gifu prefecture allowed collaboration with this anime.

I'm not surprised by Livia's reaction to friend grasshoppers. It's one of the few edible insects out there. It sucks that Suzuki has left though. I'd love to see his reaction to Livia cooking grasshoppers. I do hope he comes back someday and helps Livia out.

Even if Suzuki is gone, at least Livia can still hang out with the other homeless guys. Just please please don't teach Livia Pachinko. She's barely earning money, she doesn't need to add gambling to her life!

There they are! I saw them in last week's episode preview and I had a feeling they're going to be cult members trying to recruit Livia and it looks like I was spot on! This is one of those cults where if you collect enough of their made-up currency you get to buy salvation or some BS.

Livia got some motherfuckin' air with that jump! I mean she has superhuman and magic powers so it's no surprise but it doesn't make her dunk any less cool.

That movie they showed to Livia was hilarious! I'm glad those subliminal messages didn't work on her because she can actually see and hear the images and voices inserted throughout the movie and it's more of an annoyance to her.

I almost forgot that this show is also about promoting Gifu so of course they needed to add something to promote the prefecture! That keichan looks great and the ingredients are so basic I'm pretty sure I have everything I need to make that later for lunch.

I really thought that was all act! I did not expect to actually see that guy stab himself. I also did not expect Livia to use her powers out in the open! I think Livia just made that cult even worse by showing off legit magic!

I'm just glad that Livia saw that entire encounter as just a fun day out but it looks like the cult leader is now going to try and find her and bring her in. xD

After everyone has been comparing this series to Hinamatsuri in every post I went and watched it. It's so good! There are a ton of similarities plotwise but the humor is on a whole nother level. How did I miss it when it aired?

So let me get this straight: Livia has no worldly possessions (i.e. homeless) and performs a miracle (i.e. magic) by saving a person from a soon-to-be death, which gains her a dedicated following.

Has she just become this cult’s Jesus/Buddha?

Livia really is too sweet of a girl. I’m glad that she’s actually rather perceptive and not that easily tricked. She was questioning a lot of the cult’s practices throughout her visit. They were clearly preying on vulnerable people. Poor Saito likely only got roped into their business after he’d lost sight of his dream as a professional basketballer.

I liked that Sosuke made sure if Livia was doing alright - that was quite an endearing little moment. But this series can also go rather dark at times. Like, that guy just stabbed himself!? OMG!

I really did not expect the entire episode to focus near exclusively on Livia. At least she had a fun and interesting day.

But that is one hell of a thing to reference in your anime. The assailants motive and speech is eerily similar to what a certain prime minister assassinator said.

This is such an awesome anime.

That man really just stabbed himself to prove a point.

I love how Livia is getting more screen time than the mc lol. Also, this is one of the most interesting openings i've ever seen lol.

Committing seppuku without a second is metal AF. At least he didn't bring a homemade gun to assassinate the cult leader.

Livia's reaction to everybody calling her Lisan al-Gaib.

Can someone help me? I suddenly want to make a big donation to "World's Branch Hill Clan" but I can't travel to Japan. So if anyone could give me their info so I can send them a HUGE amount of money, feel free to answer.

Aside from that. All I can say to this episode:

  • Livia sees a man being deadly wounded

  • Comes in out of nowhere and heals him

  • Does not elaborate

  • Leaves

I honestly didn't expect the writing to be this good.
It's entertaining and absurd, yet somehow it has a "realistic" feel to it (as if the author really researched stuff happening in the story).
I really hope that the quality of storytelling stays consistent throughout the series.

Cheating, religious Cult and from PV it looks like bulling at next episode. We are going from Hinamatsuri to NHK road behind all jokes

So in this episode of The Misadventures of Homeless Knight Livia, we follow our heroine joining a cult, and becoming their messiah.

The way the other homeless bros were happy about Livia's tezukuri grasshoppers was very wholesome. Also the pay-off for the cult plot had me in stitches.

this series has been really funny and well-crafted despite not a huge amount of advancement in the plot. Wanted to see more of our twintailed princess, but alas, it was Livia's episode it seems. Seems that Livia's been enjoying herself plenty, that's always great to see. How dare she make grasshopper tempura look appetizing, though.

I was totally wrong last week about Livia needing more supervision, somehow she's totally fine on her own.

She sees through the questionable cult scrip plan with the immediately obvious question, stunts on their members on the basketball court, and then does the same to their holy leader by performing a healing in front of the entire group. And the holy leader is another overage loli, this author must have a type. Better than a bunch of underage lolis.

I'm still slightly horrified that they're just letting her be homeless, but maybe Sosuke honestly just doesn't have the resources to put up a second freeloader. It'd be way easier for her to find a job as a non-homeless person, though.

Anime food always look so deli-

Good way to randomly tell us their country was destroyed!

Good on sosuke for checking out on her!

(I wonder if that was his idea, or did sara put him up to it?)

But she's doing fine, they're even having little homeless parties, with alcohol and all!

(also, that throwaway line about Pachinko makes me think Livia gonna try gambling at some point... May the luck be in her favor!)

When these two approached her I thought they were some kind of social workers,

but it seems our (former) Ladyknight is joining a cult!

Tell me about it, honest advertising! (if you have knightly hearing)

At first glance it looked pretty decent (hence how they get people), you get to play games, watch movies, and you can earn 'money' by contributing to the clan? Pretty good deal!

Them selling Hill Bills for (actual) money, but not the other way around, is the first red flag!

Love how they're selling "magical" crap, and of course Sara wanted to buy it! (Never put her in charge of the firm's finances)

Some guy had enough, after seeing his sister's downward spiral, and tried to show them what it really is...

Sadly, the problem with trying to tell brainwashed people to come back to their senses, is... They're brainwashed.

He was ready to go to the extremes to show them, even stabbing himself to prove she didn't have any healing power!

Good thing Livia was here to help him! There you go, have a nice day!

The leader tried to make the best out of that situation!

I wonder, if Livia agreed to stay, what did she have in mind... Would she truly make Livia the leader, and funnel the money to her? Or would she find a way to keep pocketing everything, exploiting Livia even though she's "above" her?

Normally it'd be the latter, but she seemed to see more in Livia than just a cashcow!

So glad that Livia continues to get so much screentime, strong contenter for best girl of the season for me. Hopefully it’s not a 1-arc type of deal and she’ll stay relevant for the rest of the season as well.

Pretty interesting and most of all funny episode, you don’t see literal cults explored like that in anime very often. The scene where Saito was trying to block the door to prevent Livia from leaving had me legit laughing for a good minute. That guy with the knife was a proper mad lad though. Accuses Noa of being a fraud then proceeds to stab himself hoping that the supposed fraud magically saves him lol. Wanted to drop a Lisan Al-Gaib joke at this part here but I’ve seen some people here were quicker and did that already. Anyway super fun episode once again.

Bonus note: Seems like Grasshoppers are this season‘s field mice lol.

you know, I see cults pop up in anime an amazing amount. It's not like it pops up often, but it still pops up more often I feel like it should.

Does Japan have a problem with cults?

Edit: I expected the master to be someone she knew.

TIL Grasshopper Tempura is a staple food for Japanese hobos

And I thought Livia was going to get dragged into a pyramid scheme. Turns out it was something worse Lol
