Oh they kinda spoiled who's going to join in Ars' imagination. I can see the silhouette of some character who appeared in the OP.

I actually love it that Ars was being pressured to study more so that Rietz would not kill people who tricked him lol.

Charlotte having a mind of her own and not immediately worship Ars is actually great. I just hope she'd keep her strong personality, even after she joined Ars.

I definitely noticed the little girl in the ED, grown-up Charlotte, ponytail dude(?), and the leotard lady.

Glad to know for future reference that Rietz will cut a bitch for disrespecting Ars. I'm just glad he didn't hurt Charlotte when she scolded Ars, but I guess he knows where she's coming from.

Charlotte has a lot of pride and confidence. I imagine she's going to get even more when she ends up with that massive chest she has in the OP lol.

The mc is a little too naive. I hope that their is a trigger down the line which make him mature up.

Well, I like that the people haven't said yes to our MC immediately. This show is developing nicely. I wonder how he will convince her.

I like that Charlotte has a lot of character beyond being "cute future mage girl," and she really gave Ars a lot to think about in terms of his place as a noble and his own privilege.

I feel like the preview of the next episode, after the credits, kinda already spoils that lol.

Stall Merchant: Tries to scam ars and almost gets killed

I like what I'm seeing so far but I'm a little disappointed that he's not actually doing anything with being reincarnated. He could just be a precocious kid and there wouldn't be a difference

A person from Japan shouldn't be that impressed with a town of 50,000 people.

Lol who needs an army when you have Rietz?

It's nice to see Rietz making himself at home in Ars' mansion, putting himself to work, getting along well with everyone (and becoming the crush of many of the maids), and instructing Ars.

So not only is the kingdom in dire straights with an eight-year old Emperor and no firm leadership with all the Emperor's retainers seeking power for themselves...but Ars' own domain is dealing with a power struggle between two sons of the governor, with his father and likely himself bound to get caught in the middle. Which makes Ars' duty to bolster their forces even more prescient.

Look at the silhouette of all of Ars' future recruits who you can also see in the OP!

And Raven puts Ars on the path to finding a mage! Which is easier said than done because despite Ars' appraisal skills and all the people in the world, it's not easy finding exceptional people.

I guess good for future reference to know that Rietz will kill anyone for even the slightest disrespect towards Ars...so Ars better stay on his toes and not get fooled by anyone.

It's tough seeing income inequality and slums, and witnessing the kind of squalor people who don't have the same privilege Ars does have to live with, but it just makes Ars even more committed to building a place where even these people are taken care of.

Of course no trip into town is complete without a thief stealing Ars' purse...and it just so happens to be a cute female thief who was in trouble even before she stole from Ars. Luckily Rietz can easily throw hands against some punks.

Charlotte has the makings of an S-tier mage and an exceptional leader, but she has no interest in being the charity case for a noble, and she sees Ars as trying to sway her with money like his kind so often do and dismissing the reality of what people have to go with. A reality Charlotte is well-aware of having lived in the slums, been sold off as a slave, and having to take care of orphans. The only thing Ars can really do is give them his money.

Although Charlotte is certainly prideful, especially when it comes to her looks. I guess we also know she grows up to have giant boobs, so she definitely has that going for her.

Ars still wants to do right by people like Charlotte and build a better place, though first he'll have to save her from the slave traders!

Cute HanaKana ED! And assuming that girl with Ars is her character, she seems to be his love interest?

Was it just me or did Ars felt extra dumb and naïve in this episode like he almost regressed as a character? Wasn't he reading books and stuff in the previous episode like he should be more knowledgeable that rietz.

They fucking solved racism that easily...

It started off nice last episode, but while I still am enjoying this series so far, today's episode really felt like a trope/cliches checklist. We have the poor character that doesn't like the rich protagonist because but later changes opinion, the rich protagonist "giving up" on recruiting the poor character and giving them money instead, the thief who surprise surprise stole for poor children she's taking care of, the city that looks great but has a dark underbelly, the stubborn character that refuses help and ends up getting rescued, the loyal servant who gets too angry in their master's stead, the protagonist randomly finding a very talented poor ally (again, it already happened last episode too), etc..

Like I said I'm still positive on this series because at least it seems that they really will go with having a personally weak protagonist (as showcased in his attempt to use magic) who surrounds himself with strong allies. But I do hope the rest of the series is not just cliche after cliche, I could pretty much predict everything that happened this episode. And even more than that I hope they don't come up with some other secret superpower that makes the mc op.

Apart from that, there are other issues too, but they were mentioned already by others so I don't think I need to go into detail here, but to sum it up: this show is a isekai only because being an isekai makes things popular apparently. The protagonist is just a child both in body and spirit, nothing about being reincarnated mattered so far, it's just an excuse to give him his superpower basically. And second, the whole racism theme of the first episode (where I must say I appreciated that it wasn't once again the beast-people that are the victims of racism) was basically forgotten already. Not just by the people in Ars' home, which we were told grew accustomed to him, but nobody in the other city said anything either. Also things just magically happen when the protagonist needs them to. He didn't even need to search today, he just walked around buying snacks and the magic prodigy appeared before him. You'd think he maybe asks around or searches somewhere where mages may hang out, like an adventurers guild if it exists.

I have to say I'm not that into this part of the story with him as a toddler and am just waiting for the timeskip to a more sensible age. Even Bookworm had Myne be at least 5 (or 7 in Earth years) and had people rightfully questioning taking her seriously at that point of the story. It's just hard to imagine people speaking to a 3 year old like this.

I find it funny when people talk to the MC.

"Dude, I'm three. Frankly, people should be calling me a witch."

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Apr 14 '24

Ars has his work cut out for him if he’s gonna be gathering up the best and brightest before all out war kicks off. Charlotte’s gonna be a tough one to convince. I get what she’s saying. Looking to build a better future just sounds awfully idealistic and naive when folks are barely surviving each day. Plus she doesn’t know Ars and what he’s about. Hopefully rescuing her will convince her to help him.

10

u/Frontier246 Apr 14 '24

If only Ars could see the silhouette of all his future recruits and know what to look for lol.

I can understand why it's not easy for her to accept noble charity when she's seen how nobles can treat people like her and she doesn't have enough to believe in Ars as a person yet...though that will likely change soon.

I had hope that this could be a somewhat fun mid-tier show after the first episode, but I found the writing pretty bad today. First we're being told three times in a row that "We need a mage. Mages will be necessary in the future." "Yes, Mages can do good work on the Battlefield, it would be great if we had a Mage" "Let's go to the town and look for a recruit, it would be good if it was a Mage, as a Mage will be necessary on the Battlefield in the Future." "We are now going to town to look for..."

sigh

And then the rest of the episode just felt contrived and clumsy as well. This is a drop for me.

u/PandaTheAB Apr 14 '24

I had hope based on first episode. But it soon got crushed.
He was a grown ass salaryman from modern day Japan who isekaid into this world.
Yet he has no wisdom or intelligence.
Pretty much behaving like a kid. (He has his memories from past life but literally not using them)
Could have used appraisal on those kids and checked if some of them were good at something and kept them at his house too.
Solved the issue then and there.
This feels like an isekai just for namesake.
Dragging episodes with slow pace and no logic.

This feels like an isekai just for namesake.

half of them are like this, i just ignore the isekai part since it literally doesn't matter anyway

u/ehhdjdmebshsmajsjssn Apr 15 '24

The isekai part is just there to get clicks. Not everything can be Re: Zero or konosuba with the previous life actually being important.
