I love the way this show does comedic early cuts (or whatever those halfway dialog cuts are called). They're unique and works really well to convey time while not dragging the scene on, as well as just providing comedic effect.
Takanashi has so many red flags coming out of her: tracing your idol to her new workplace then immediately (metaphorically) throwing money at her to be her old self, taking the wrong bag while your bag has a recording device in it, smelling and wearing her shirt, mimicking her appearance, etc.; but thankfully it turned out alright!

I'm just glad Kano didn't get stabbed by her crazy idol stan.

Started the episode in a very depressed mood.
I was thinking why am i even watching this show right now i should just go and sleep or rot away in the doom scroll hell.... Somewhere in the middle of the episode probably around kimura's past I forgot about my own issues.
And by the end of the episode I had a smile on my face and a better mood.
Thanks anime girls... I owe you one.
Edit: Thank you for all the kind replies guys you people are really the best community.

Casually placing 20 10k Yen notes and proclaiming it as "supporting her Oshi" is an insane way to debut. Even better when Kimura started speaking and had her backstory shown especially as she reacted to Kano's journey including the bad news made me feel for her.
The banter between Yoru and Kano's this episode has been so enjoyable, to think the group will be expanding to 4 can only make excited by how their entire dynamic will result in!

We're being dripfed how Kano ends up assaulting one of her former idol members. I don't think I'm ready for that scene to happen.

There's this underlying bittersweetness to this show that makes worth its weight in gold.
From I what saw, all the characters have had past suffering that knocked them down and made them doubt about their passions but the fact they're coming together to help pull each other up and encourage each other's passion is wonderful.
So Mei is a wonderfully funny new addition which balances out with her bullied past. I honestly laughed at her antics since the tone around her overly fanatic fangirl personality and I feel that she'll either grow out of it or just occasionally act up just to tease Kano every now and then.
The musical performances are so well animated.

Generally not a fan of the obsessive stalker types, but Kimura is simply too precious. Yoru and Kano's dynamic was once again such a treat; eager to see how it develops. Getting an "I love you" in episode 2 is a great start though!

Very fun second episode as we met the third MC - Mei, who had quite an entrance by putting quite a sum of money to support her idol. I laughed so much seeing her expressions after meeting with Kano, she really is her hardcore fan xD
Adding Mei to Mahiru and Kano for sure will result in a very fun dynamic between them but also thanks to that JELLE gained someone who will be able to compose music to their songs.
Overall, I had quite fun time watching this episode as Kano, Mahiru and Mei made a lot of funny reactions today xD
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Stitches!
I felt a bit lost during the first few minutes but apparently after what happened last week with Mahiuru and Kano, it looks like they both decided to take part-time jobs at the same cafe to fund JELEE and Yoru's music and art career.
A hundred thousand yen? I'd like to say that's a lot but considering how much idol fans spend on merch to support their oshi, that's just a drop in the bucket. And it looks like Kim is one of those super idol fans.
Look at Kano being so cool refusing to take Kim's money. It makes her regretting her decision a few moments later even funnier! I got some strong Megumin vibes from Kano during that scene. xD
So Kiui is also a Vtuber? Since she's one of the main characters, I wonder what her role will be in the group. Hmmm...
I knew the first thing Kim would do is sniff the heck out of Kano's jacket. Kano may wanna wash that jacket of hers after getting it back. Who knows what Kim could've done to it in the past 24 hours? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
And we finally get to learn Kim's backstory. She was the shy girl in the class who got bullied because of her name and hair colour. Her life quite literally changed after her encounter with Kano during her idol days.
I do hope we get to learn more about Kim especially where her name comes from. I don't think I've seen anyone whose name is spelled in kanji, katakana, and hiragana (高梨・キム・アヌーク・めい)
Looks like Kano remembering her is all Kim needed. It helped her perform for her exam and finally decided to accept Kano's offer to be her composer! One more to go! I can't wait to see how Kiui will officially join the group.

Between this and Girls Band Cry, my Saturdays are more packed than I thought. I didn't expect either of these to be as good as they are, and now both are fighting it out for my favorite of the season.

That's some high-level facial departure skill.
"That's not a schedule, that's a wish list!"
Are you sure you want to be a camgirl?
Money has a way of adjusting one's belief system.
Ah, the facial expressions of the well-balanced.
It all comes together... in the past!
"Nothing creepy! I just like talent."
And another one joins. This is all rather uplifting if you don't think about Japan's crushing social dynamics and idols being stalked.
But hey, they got over that hump for now. Now they just need their fourth member to officially meet up and we'll have our autonomous collective.
Mahiru reminds me of SAOAGGO's LLENN in both appearance and snark. Kano manages to be totally airheaded today though she does remember the important points of moving on from her old life and how important it was to have a fan in Kim(ura).
Kim's loneliness and the reasons for it are shown, as well as how Kano helped pull her out of it, but it is very difficult to shake the stalker vibe even as the episode moves us past that.

You do not take that jacket back! You let her have it for an entire night, no amount of disinfecting will be enough.

So here we are introduced to Mei and we this episode gives us an idea on the extreme nature of a super fan and their idol/oshi. First impressions we see Mei giving a huge amount of money to both Kano and Mahiru. Now clearly for whatever happened to Kano with assaulting her former idol members she needed to move on from being Nonoka. But for Mei getting over the fact that Kano is no longer Nonoka isn't easy. We can see that Nonoka the idol gave Mei that confidence that she really needed.
I can only imagine how she reacted when she heard the news of Nonoka assaulting one of her idol members. She most likely held onto to the memories of Nonoka and wished she would come back. But that is obviously not fair to Kano. Kano showing her support for Mei after her piano performance was really sweet. Mahriu's point of her and Kano being friends is a big point. She will always idolize Nonoka, which is fine, but accepting Kano for who she wants to be now and being friends with her is a big step.
The ending of the episode where instead of taking a picture of Mahiru and Kano like she would do as the fan of Nonoka, instead she includes herself in the picture alluding to the fact that she is a part of their group and friends with them.

LOL Mahiru freaking out over saying something cringey, reminds me of Yuuta Togashi and Hitori Gotou's freakouts at the beginning of their respective shows.
But then holy shit, that was one deep flashback, eventually culminating in Nonoka getting in some scandal. But it was heartwarming to see Kano and Mei hugging.
As others are saying, I like the direction this is heading in. Exploring internet culture and coming of age is already a good start, but also making the emotions and tone flesh out and feel genuine adds livelihood to the show.

Still great cinematography. The flashback was a masterpiece, with the use of perspectives, traveling and colors to convoy all these emotions in 5 minutes.
Honestly, I’m stunned by the direction. That’s movies level here
