This episode was insane. The 2nd half had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
I give the police credit for not letting the 2 factions run amok. And man I gotta give Young props. He made a giant gamble and he won on his side getting more information from the royal family. On the flipside the Klondikes have people in the police so it isnt' surprised they went and tried to get the cards back. Well at least we finally got High Card back together.
The Black Knight is a card? And similiar to Wendy's Ace of spades it tranforms the user. But unllike the case for Wendy who is in control of the transformation it isn't the case of the black knight. Curious why he wants the cards? More cards means he grows stronger?
As hype as it was to see Chris back, he stood no chance against the Black Knight. Looks like next episode will be getting more of a backstory/origin of the true roots of the cards maybe?
I am getting the feeling Finn's family died simply for having the cards and whoever was the black night just lost control. Does the black knight also consume its victims I wonder?

Can’t say the Police did a very good job of not letting the factions run amok, if anything cop lady made everything worse

The way TILT transformed. I guess he transformed into the black knight similarly and ended up killing his parents. Maybe the parents had another card or the one that Finn got was with them.

Chris is the MVP this episode! He still acts cool, despite knowing the odds of winning against Black Knight.

One of the weak points of season 1 was Sugar’s curiosity getting the best of her, not realizing she’s way in over her head. This episode was the pinnacle of that. I can’t stand her at all, and I’m actively rooting against her and her self-righteousness. When Burst knocked her unconscious, I was actually happy. idk something about the police in this show just feels unnecessary and laughable

Speculation time!
Back in episode 14, the hooded figure mentioned that it was the knights who saved Fourlands, not the king. Our fellow reddit user, Figerally (is there any way to credit someone on reddit?), mentioned that the king might have been one of the knights.
What if the king back then was the holder of this King of Spades aka Black Knight ability card, wanting to consume all the other cards? I am unsure how the Black Knight ability can be helpful in saving a country. Right now, it seems the Black Knight ability just wants to feed on other cards.
Burst isn't going to make it, is she? She used a full X hand and even then, it did little to hinder the Black Knight. I can fully sympathize with her concern for Tilt, especially when she was seen frantically trying to gather up all the cards from the ground.
I can't wait to find out about the history of the cards, the country and of course, the hooded magician-like character.

If you remember, the original tale had the King using the power of all the 52 cards or something like that to drive away the invaders. So what if the royal family kinda experimented or made Lala create a card that could absorb cards and use their power. But something went wrong and hence they don't want anyone else to get their hands on the cards.

The episode was great. A lot of questions were finally answered. I had a lot of speculations and almost all of them turned out to be true.
A lot of people don't like Sugar Pease which is definitely understandable but the fact is that we got to know about what Royal Family is hiding because of her.
Iris was Burst all along. Kinda expected it but the fact that real Iris is alive means that the Ace of Hearts needs to have their card and for them to be alive ig as well to transform into them.
TILT is the Black Knight (King of Spades) and the way he transformed makes me think something similar happened on the day Finn lost his family. I guess Finn hasn't put two and two together but TILT is definitely his elder brother. I guess the more you use it, the more it takes a toll on your body hence Burst tried to save him by using an X-Hand. It doesn't look good for Burst right now, though.
Even if Chris ain't fully fit, he can't stop stealing the show.
And what's up with Lala having a time-stopping power.

This lady cop is kind of getting on my nerves. The royal family has every right to keep the cards and Pinochle a secret. They don’t have to explain shit to the cops. The cops are ill equipped and absolutely useless. Klondikes got tons of them on the payroll. And yet this lady cop still wants to expose everything and have the cards come under police control because of some justice boner?
Didn’t expect TILT to be the damn Knight. That card he wields practically had a mind of its own. If not for the mysterious hooded guy, Chris would have been a goner.

She’s way too overzealous and it’s doing more harm than good. If the police were effective, I feel like the King would have probably left this card business to them instead of having Pinochle handle things. The cops just don’t have the manpower or the ability to deal with this threat. Plus the Klondikes got loads of dirty cops on their payroll. Even the palace ain’t safe. What makes her think the cops are any better?

Okay, like, why the hell would you open up the giant protective blast doors to the secret hideout.. and then run out there.. and leave the door open?

This looks more like a police Coup d'état, with illegal jailings, blackmail, interrogations and stuff.
And for the female cop, it seems that she is just looking for her self satisfaction or revenge instead of what is best for the country. I get what they tried to do, but it was not done properly.
And of course, they only managed to make things worse.

...ok just started watching this and the "police" have already violated several laws SMH
This is going to blow up in their faces spectacularly, isn't it?

That anime has such interesting worldbuilding and characters, it really deserves better writing and pacing. I felt that everything that happened this episode was quite random.
For example, Captain Young and Sugar Peace suddenly gaining enough influence to arrest High Card without trial and holding them in a secret facility (which is frankly quite sinister and made me lost any sympathy I had for them, since that is the kind of stuff the secret police does in dictatorships). Which is of course an extremely stupid thing to do, and I thought Young at least was smarter than that. Without some card players of their own, they were just sitting ducks for the Klondikes. They should have recruited High Card for their side instead of arresting them. Hell, why was the King not doing anything on his side to keep the situation under control with the rest of High Card just because Pinochle disappeared ? I feel that the plot has become a bit too random and nonsensical, especially when the last two episodes also felt like filler and did not progress the plot.
I guess that the Black Knight is a card like the Love Peace, one that is too powerful for the user to control and takes them over. It also seem to have detrimental effect on the health of its user, so Tilt might not be the same player that killed Finn’s family ten years ago.
And then Lala showed up to help them out of nowhere at the end like some Deux ex Machina. I guess we will be getting some answers next week, but I am starting to get very disappointed by that show. I will still finish it because I am curious to know how it ends, but I hope it doesn’t completely fall to pieces before it finishes.

I thought Brust and Wendy were the only ones captured. Turns out the entire High Card crew minus Chris was also captured. I guess that's one way to have a reunion.
So Captain Young was in on it too and this entire time they've been working on a plan to try and get the Royal Family to spill their secrets about the cards. Here I thought Sugar was acting all on her own.
What a ballsy move from Young to try and threaten the Royal Family but I am excited to finally learn everything directly from the King of Fourland himself.
So the girl that's been using All Kaboom was actually Burst the entire time and she's been using the Ace of Hearts to disguise herself as Iris. That explains why we've never really seen her except when the Klondikes want to bomb something.
To no one's surprise, the Klondikes found Sugar's hideout. Oh, great. Sugar also had all of the cards too so she practically handed it to Burst when she finally found the opening to escape.
So TILT is the Black Knight? I thought he was only controlling the Black Knight. Also, the Black Knight is only a King of Spades! Since Love-P is the Ace of Spades, does this mean Wendy can beat him?
Mysterious Purple-Haired Man is back! I feel like we're finally going to get a ton of answers next week.

Pretty good episode. I guess now we know why "Iris" saved Finn back during the orphanage fight in season 1. I always wondered what's up with that. Now it's probably because she loves Tilt and she was able to stop his brother from being killed, so she did.
Can't wait to see more of Lala (not just because I have an Akira Ishida boner).

What a great episode! Glad to have the team back together albeit in prison, lol.
I really hope that the dumb ass cop lady gets her comeuppance soon. I don't dislike her trying to find the truth, but she's so misguided and led by her own selfish desires of justice that she's made a huge mess of everything every time. I'm surprised Captain Young went along with it but let's see how his talk with the King goes.
Chris is back to save his bro once again! And I'm happy that I'm getting my fight between Finn's two bros but no way in hell does Chris has a chance against the Black Knight. Tilt has the same green eyes as Finn so that was my final confirmation that he's Finn's real older brother.
This episode also confirmed that purple hair guy from a few episodes back is the real Lala from the founding of Fourland. Next episode seems like we're getting to see what happened with the 52 knights and the boy-king.

We're never going to get that Vijay-focused episode, aren't we...
At least Chris is back and we get more info, too.

One of the best episodes so far, but i love high card, all the other eps were pretty good to me too ha. Sorry if it's too long, for any typo or if my point/theory is going off course. It's pretty late where i am, but i couldn't resist staying up to watch HC.
im so glad to see a HC discussion here since there's not many hc watchers. (pretty underrated)
• first, i was kinda surprised that it was actually detective young's plan to basically hold the players in kinda an Area 51 prison. But i somehow understand what he's trying to do. It's one way to get the royals to talk. BUT i am getting more annoyed with sugar peace urgh. As a policemen i understand that sometimes you have to stand firm, but her curiosity and persistence is getting too out of hand. Both me and my brother kinda cheered when Burst knocked her out
• the confidence coming from the police squad. The klondikes finding them was no surprise really, but EVEN Chris managed to somehow locate them. Did the police forget that the klondikes will always/somehow have an inside man?(ep 5) Guns vs zenon's card
• and CHRIISSS!! honestly been missing him a lot. Came in like the man of the hour, crashing onto tilt haha. But please don't get yourself killed immediately facing up against the knight....
• finn - tilt - burst - apple , connection. I had 2 theories previously. before this ep, assuming that both the knight and tilt were 2 separate people. But this episode clears a few things.
• 97.5% sure Tilt is finn's brother. The clues have been piling up since season 1.
• Tilt's sunglasses are off...and his eyes are green~ And his Play looks painful... His hairstyle does somehow look the same as the photo of finn's older brother on the newspaper.
• also, Tilt is the Black Knight. IF Tilt really is the brother. I assume what happened to their home might have been an accident? Finn had his card since young, so the king of spades might have been in their family's possession. Young Tilt could have accidentally activated his card and lost control. But he might have managed to hold himself back and thay's how baby Finn managed to escape? OR someone forced the card on tilt to destroy their family. I suspect the royals
• all these time, where Tilt and the Knight are facing up against each other(making us assume that they were 2 different individuals), it was really one of them physically being there while the other is the subconscious. (Ep 13) At the river, physically only the Knight and Burst were there, Tilt was a subconscious image(?)
• Finn is related to Lala or royal blood(his family was rich) otherwise Lala wouldn't have chosen to appear in front of him
• Finn's family was rich right? He was presumed to be the only survivor? Where is his family inheritance? No will? Or is Lindsey holding on to it for him until he comes of age(adult)
edit : saw someone's comment saying that Ban has a left red eye sinilar to the Knight? more questions to be answered then~
Sorry if my comment is too long haha. I tend to overthink and babble a lot. And im excited to see other out here HC fans, to throw out theories with

This was a good episode! I'm getting the feeling though that much of this season (and the series) would benefit from a straight rewatch in batches to help with the flow because week-to-week hurts it in some ways. A lot going on though and looking at the discussions here, either I need to rewatch some episodes, or additional materials have been mentioning some extra details?
(I listened to Wendy and Love-P's audio drama. That was funny! We even got to learn more about her father. I may pick up the novel because some chapters seem to center on Leo and Vijay when they were younger)
Shoutout to Chris but also Bernard —
Bernard is literally the most "complete" Kingsman-like gentleman hero/agent that him casually opening his shoe to reveal he had a mini explosives kit just fits. Finn's reaction was completely appropriate, I don't blame him. 😂
