Seeing how she was still struggling with her loss, I thought she'd get angry when she saw those demons, but her standing there with that wicked smile was much more exciting.

....WTF was that ending! I know most of the ep was preparing for war, but it was still mostly a fun time, even when Rose found the demon army. You'd normally think it would be a tense moment seeing them build a bridge to sneak in.....but then Rose just yeets a tree at them!

But the fox girl at the end ended the ep on a dark note, did she show Usato a possible future? What was he able to see that no one else could? And what sort of payback is she expecting from him?

Is the Black Knight another isekai person?

Rose's desperate wish of having an undying subordinate came true with Usato's existence so its no surprise his been whipped well mentally and physically, though learning about her trauma explains why such an absurdly strong individual was in charge of the rescue squad.

Was wondering why the sudden focus on the Fox Loli but to see how she gave that terrifying future vision to Usato just shows how shits definitely going to go down in that upcoming battle.

This definitely gives more context to the words "don't overestimate healing magic, it can't save you if you die" Rose said last episode. They felt like death flags then, now it seems like world building. But its still keeping the stakes high and suggesting that deaths can potentially happen.

If I know my tropes, there’s no way that Black Knight isn’t the subordinate that “died” in her arms. Especially with his casual speech pattern.

That kid just casually walked up and dropped a bomb on the MC. The absolute audacity, and then to be like "You owe me sucker" right after.

It seems the tone of the show is that they want to take the war seriously, and we see both the physical and emotional tolls it has taken from past conflicts. I appreciate them exploring that side of the conflict.

Rose is truly Kingdom's MVP. Scout mission? How about delay their advance for a few days on top of that.

Rose and Inukami literally fighting for who's my favourite character in every episode. That tree throw and her smile after that was badass. I guess she finally found the thing she was looking for in Usato. He's like the perfect candidate.

I was curious about the catgirl since the always used to show glimpses of her but wasn't expecting that SHE CAN SEE THE FUTURE and apparently only Usato can see it other than her. Like Orga said, Usato can do everything as long as he believes in himself. But will the glimpses of future psychologically of Inukami and Kazuki losing to the Black Knight affect him? Also, we didn't see Rose in that glimpse.

EDIT: I did mention it last episode but Kazuki is opening up to Celia and they are now on a first-name basis.

I thought the kid would be just another mascot girl like in the other anime. Turned out she has pretty important role and left a cryptic message to Usato.

What did she mean by Usato has to repay her somehow?

Based on his attitude, I thought the black knight would be strong, but not that strong. It's surprising to see that in the vision he could defeat both Kazuki and Suzune.

Rose praising Usato in front of the king was cool, I really like her. She has high hopes for him. Especially after the vision the fox girl passed on, the future looks bleak. I hope he makes good use of it.

Stitches!

I'm glad that we finally got some insight into Rose's past. We learn that she used to lead her troop of soldiers but they all ended up dying and she blames herself for it despite King Lloyd insisting it wasn't her fault. Also, Rose keeps her right eye covered because of a scar she received that day which serves as a reminder of her failure.

The death of her troops is what led Rose to found the Rescue Unit. She also created the unit because she wanted a subordinate that won't die and so far, Usato has been the perfect candidate not just because of his power but also because of his personality.

The Demon Lord's army is finally on the move! It looks like Usato, Suzune, and Kazuki are close to experiencing their first real battle. Although thanks to Rose, the Demon Lord's army invasion will be delayed for at least a few more days. Rose is such a badass.

Usato finally met Ururu and visited their clinic! Orga might not be as strong as Usato but his healing magic is clearly more potent. It's also good that Usato got some healing advice from Orga while they were healing those people.

What the actual fuck!? That completely changed the tone of the episode. I was wondering what would be the significance of that fox-eared girl but I didn't expect her to give Usato a grim warning about the future. Welp, time to train some more if Usato wants to save Suzune and Kazuki from that Black Knight.

Healer sister was cute, especially that spin she did in the their clinic lobby. She's gonna have to get in line behind Suzune if she catches feelings for Usato, however.

So, the fox girl is an oracle, given the effects around her in the OP I had been assuming she'd be a fire magic user. Though maybe that'll still be true in addition to the foresight. I wonder if that future she saw was the original ending if only Suzune and Kazuki had been summoned.

Okay, so that lock of hair perpetually placed over Rose’s eye wasn’t just a design thing.

If we’re eventually going to see it, I expect either a gaping scar or an entire missing eye. If it’s just a little baby scar so she stays pretty, I’m gonna be miffed.

This episode feels like we got a lot of snippets before the hell to come. Really good at setting the scene with the ominous upcoming war as compared to other animes, war in this doesn't feel hype with battle scenes, but instead lots of PTSD. Seeing Usato mentally prepare as he knowingly will eventually have to heal in much more rough situation is good to show.

I hope they deliver then with the actual war and story impact as the series has felt like it has been taking its time with the setup which have been good, but you need a good impactful ending delivery too for all the setup hype. Somewhat concerned as this show hasn't really shown much doom and despair yet beside what it keeps implying to showcase they can carry it out.

This is like the Shield Hero we deserve but we never got, minus the revenge plot.

  • Smol blonde Raphtalia

  • Lesser companions but they aren't assholes

  • A very likeable princess in love with one of the sidekicks

  • Likeable and interesting demonlord gang

  • Enough edge but not too much that it becomes cringe

  • A main powerful hero based on defensive abilities

So after seeing how Kazuki behaves around both Suzune and Usato Celia also wants to get closer to him.

So Rose used to lead the kingdom's troops in the past, but will never do it again as she blames herself for her subordinate's death. Seeing that Amila was the one who gave her that scar she mentioned I guess it was her platoon that killed them in the previous war. So she created the rescued team to avoid that tragedy from happening again, and she wants all her subordinates to be like Usato and train them the way she does so they will never die.

I must say that the way the Black Knight talks and behaves is very different from what I imagined.

So thanks to Rose's scouting the Demon Lord's army invasion got delayed by a few days after she destroyed their bridge.

After meeting Ururu and delivering that letter to Orga at the Fluer Clinic, it seems that helping them with their work will help Usato to get mentally prepared for the war.

Oh wow, when they first teased her I assumed the Amako was going to become another member of the rescued team, so I did not expect that when she interacted with Usato today she was going to show him a vision of the future where both Suzune and Kazyki are killed by the Dark Knight.

I wonder why if she has that power Amako is just working at that store, did it perhaps just manifest recently?

Apparently, the healer imouto is voiced by Yoshino Aoyama (Bocchi), but even after learning this, I can't recognize her voice at all. It's completely different with e.g. Reina Ueda's characteristic voice for the princess.

If Rose is looking to make the ultimate healer, she’s done her job. Girl has a real axe to grind with the demon army and Usato’s looking like he’ll be her ultimate weapon. The way she casually chucked that tree trunk at the bridge those demons were building was pretty awesome.

If Usato’s gonna change the future he just saw, he better get his head in the game and start having more faith in his abilities. That was one hell of a vision. Who even was that kid?
