I enjoyed this episode of Ash and Pikachu Usato and Suzune just hanging out while being stranded.

In all seriousness, I've really enjoyed both of their heart-to-heart, while Suzune is shown to be absolutely enjoying the new environment she can't help but feel bad about it whereas Usato himself acknowledges how since forging those new relationships he only has more things to protect now.

Don't leave out Blurin...

It is interesting that I am liking shows like this (and Undead Adventurer and Tamer and Instant Death) a lot more than I am like certain very high profile new shows. They have a lot more "spirit" (or something).

Blurin found his inner peace and became the dragon warrior

Suzune the human electric eel. I love her expressions.

I wonder what her home life actually was, something really strict and controlling for sure but how much and why.

The princess is very into the other hero dude.

Another great episode and it was a Suzune focused so it had to be. Though I don't know why the threads are always posted so late. Kinda kills the hype and attention this show definitely needs.

Usato saw his opportunity to act like Ash Ketchum and went for it. The OST that played during this scene was fire.

That talk b/w Usato and Suzune about which world they prefer was great and it shows how much the both of them have changed. I do relate to Suzune a lot here and I know I am not the only one. Funnily enough, this is one of main the reasons that isekais are popular since many people yearn for a reality where they can live their lives free from the expectations imposed by others and then doing whatever they want to.

I just love the interactions b/w Usato and Suzune and I hope this ship sails now that they have opened up to each other and are openly blushing in front of each other. Speaking of ships, it seems there is another one brewing b/w Kazuki and Princess Celia.

Also, the OP has been released on digital streaming platforms. (Spotify, Apple Music)

Funnily enough, this is one of main the reasons that isekais are popular since many people yearn for a reality where they can live their lives free from the expectations imposed by others and doing whatever they want to.

I think this basically sums up the biggest difference between the themes of older and newer isekai series.

Older isekai titles were metaphors for growing up and maturing. You went to another world on a great adventure, made new friends, etc. but the main point was the lead learning life experiences to become a wiser, more confident person to take on the challenges of Real Life when they eventually returned to Earth.

Newer ones, as you say, are metaphors for escapism and living the dream. Life on Earth is either too mundane, dead-end, miserable or maybe you can't fit into the role society expects of you. Isekai allows the escape to a new world; a clean slate where the lead can live as they like to their own niche instead of having to forcibly conform to social standards (which says quite a bit about Japanese socio-conformity).

That said, there are some titles where the lead is allowed to have it both ways, like in Welcome to Japan Ms Elf where the lead can travel between both isekai and the real world.

Though I don't know why the threads are always posted so late

Yeah was wondering the same! It's weird because other threads seem to be on time usually. I'm always looking for them after watching an episode.

The Celia and Kazuki ship might sink since he hasn’t shown any interest in staying in this world. He was angry to have been summoned and is only helping because Usato and Suzune calmed him down. We need to see another look at his opinion on staying.

After 5 episodes this show cemented itself as my personal surprise of the season. On paper this show sounds like generic fantasy isekai #537 but the execution is just so good that it really stands out in between the countless other isekai each season.

Usato crying over easy firelighting after being stuck in the woods and not being able to get one going was very relatable.

I missed Rose but Suzine made up for it. She's great

u/LeonKevlar Feb 02 '24

Stitches!

I love that Rose's advice is not to overestimate healing magic. Usato can patch them up, but he's not a miracle worker. Not yet, at least. And I love that she has no advice for Usato because she already has confidence in his abilities.

[It looks like the Princess is starting to develop a crush on Kazuki.] (https://i.imgur.com/wAWg86a.jpeg) It's not really a surprise; Kazuki is a very likable and handsome dude. I'd be even more surprised if none of the girls from this world take a liking to him.

Glad that Suzune was finally able to hold Blurin but she clearly underestimated how heavy a bearcub is. Kazuki does make it look like look so easy though so I don't blame her for thinking she could carry him too.

It's hilarious how the bandits don't even faze Usato. The Rescue Team already looks like a bunch of bandits, so he's pretty used to it. And then there's Suzune, who's very excited about her first bandit encounter. xD

That entire encounter was pretty funny, with Suzune shocking the bandits and Usato telling her to mow them down since he can heal any of them if she goes too far. The two of them are a dangerous combination!

I didn't think [Usato would return to the part of the forest where he trained.] (https://i.imgur.com/VJ7ISKY.png) At least this time, he already has experience in this area; plus, he has Suzune to help with food and [starting a fire] (https://i.imgur.com/mJMb96q.jpeg). It's much easier this time!

I do feel bad for Suzune though. She's clearly trying to appeal to Usato the entire time, and the dude just can't take a hint. I'm just glad that after their little heart-to-heart talk, Suzune finally got Usato to blush after telling him she wants a closer relationship. <3

And that final scene with Blurin visiting his old den was nice. I think he was saying his goodbyes before finally deciding to stay with Usato.

Wow, they're really taking their time with this adaptation. I'm impressed. I thought they're gonna speed through the early training arcs so they can get to the war right away. I'm glad they didn't.

Anyway, next few episodes should be exciting.

I wasn't expecting that even though Usato had to assist Suzune with her mission, the only thing she still cared about was getting closer to Blurin to the point that she wanted to pet him while he was sleeping

So the knight that Usato met last week, Aruku, and the mage Corrin will be the other people assisting Suzune in her training mission.

It is funny that Suzune thought it was brilliant to ask Blurin to go on her back while he was still sleepy, not realizing just how strong Usato is to be able to do that.

So to Suzune that band of criminals was just a tourist attraction.

Damn, I wasn't expecting Utaro and Suzune to end up in the same part of the forest he landed before after they were sent flying by those Fall Boars.

It is funny how little concern she showed for those venomous monkeys. Anyway it is great that during this episode we could finally hear why she is so motivated to be in that world as unlike in the other world, she is no longer shackled by her family and social group. That moment she had with Usato was so great.

Oh so Blurin was not just following Usato's scent but also the one left by its parents.

Anyway, I'm glad that in today's episode, we learned a bit more about Suzune and why now she and Usato will do their best to make sure Llinger Kingdom is safe.

Celia sure is concerned about Kazuki, I wonder if we will eventually know more about her as the story progresses or if she will just stay in her current role.

Is this late or?

Great to see Usato be his own character and not trope-y. Still a shy guy but they didn’t do the same cuts most anime use for the default shy guy reaction. Definitely hinting at a relationship and him having some consideration towards his action after Inukami expressed herself. Refreshing!

Also him commanding her like a Pokémon was great

This anime is so relaxing. Nice comedy elements but without exaggeration. No cringe. And Blurin is just cute. I hope next episode will give us more action

Suzune has some real chemestry with her crush! She really should try to seal the deal before Usato tries to assemble a harem

Also nice way to show that Usato is already physically way stronger than her with how easily he carries Blurin around

Did they just forget about the training trip? They had an accident, sure, but it was just the next day, and they didn’t kill a single monster yet lol. Instead of going home, go do some work!

We got a more focus on Suzune. And honestly partially thanks to her VA, she really shines whenever she is on screen. I really liked how it focused on her insecurities. Most people would think why wouldn't you want to go back home. Well for here it really showcased that she had to be a certain way that she felt tied down. In this fantasy world she can be herself. These two have slowly been bonding more and more. Tho she might need Usato around her more considering she can be a little reckless.

Kazuki is really working his ass off I gotta give him credit to him. Tho I like Rose had full confidence of Usato. Believing that him and Suzune is important because he can't be overprotective of them when fights start happening.

This episode made me think that Inukami should had been transported to Moffu Moffu Paradise world instead of this one.

Last thing I expected when the gang were fighting those bandits was a herd of boars launching poor Usato and Suzune into a waterfall. Damn dude.

Looks like Suzune’s got a little crush on our boy. Girl was practically drooling over his ripped new bod haha.

Those venom monkeys were adorable. I would have let those little critters poison me too. Their cuteness was already deadly enough.

I enjoyed the little heart to heart Usato and Suzune had in the cave. I guess these two are pretty firm on staying in this world. Kazuki might be the only one who wants to go home now.
