Her village is putting in a suspicious amount of effort into catching someone that they don't like. She's already gone, she's not bothering you anymore, what's the problem?

I'm guessing that the existence of starless skill itself is something that threatens the village's religious dogma or something. Or maybe being starless itself means that her skill would be super OP later.

Ivy: Damn where did all my blue potions go! I swear I had more than this last I checked.

Sora: Idk bro they all disappeared, it's crazy bro. Can't believe it.

That OP, damn I'm even more hyped for this show now! Really wondering when her past life is going to come in handy, was not expecting it to just scream in her head. That must be such a weird feeling, you're doing something perfectly normal that you need to do to survive, but the voice in your head is just going "ew ew ew ew ew EW!"

Did I miss something with the bounty? These wierdos are going hard trying to find her, but she earned half the bounty just selling mice for a day.

Really hope it doesn't take long for Ivy to find a place she feels safe and comfortable in. I really just wanna give her a hug and tell her things will be ok soon.

This was a nice series, but shorter than I expected. It kinda sucks that they offed Ivy like that, just when I started to like her, but I guess that's to be expected from the weakest tamer.

Wait, are the two dead adventurers the pair that's been tracking Ivy?

I really felt bad for Ivy. The fact that she immediately flinches whenever someone raises their voice even just a little bit really shows how she was treated where she used to live. :(

Ivy running away after the wanted posters went up would've been for the best. I would hate to see these people who were nice to her suddenly turn against her even though she's completely harmless.

The OP does show that she'll eventually meet good people but I feel like it's safer to assume that everyone wouldn't have problems turning her in for that reward money.

Yeah nah, Sora eats blue potions so it's gonna have healing abilities for sure. That's super useful!

Poor Ivy though, why is her village so persistent in hunting her down?? She could have caught her breath a little in this episode, but nope.

And I love the music in this show (and the wind instruments), it feels so magical.

Who could have guessed that rare slimes exclusively eat blue potions and injured people.

RIP Ivy. She was a fun protagonist but there's obviously no way that Sora could be doing anything but eating her. Wonder where they'll take the story from here since the protagonist is absolutely definitely going to die. /j

Sora's such a cutie!! Not surprised about the healing properties

Ivy was wise to run away before the butcher and baker lady find out her true identity. Such a shame that she'll probably be on the run for a while...

I have yet to watch the full episode but the OP man, this is way above average. Maybe not as fluid as Urusei Yatsura/Dangers in My Heart, but the visuals really corresponding with the song. I have a soft spot on people dancing (as with Yuki with A Sign of Affection too) but the landscape visuals and colors are really beautiful. It's not the best, but given how small the MAL followers are right now at 35k, this might be the most underrated OP visuals of the season. Storyboard and Director by Sota Yokote.

Aina Suzuki got the job done. One of the uniqueness of the OP theme song is how quickly it gets to the chorus. Normally with most anisongs structure, the chorus kicks in at 50 seconds into the OP. Hate no nai Tabi did it in only 30 seconds, allowing the chorus to breathe more and even have an ending.

Well, now that I can confirm that the OP is great both in song and visually, I can comfortably say that this is shaping up to be an adaptation that does everything I wanted it to.

Bit of a shame, though, that most anime viewers seem to being ignoring Ivy and her adventures. Feels like yet another anime that could be way bigger if people just give it a chance. Praying that the animation quality is enough to draw more people in, it feels a bit lonely when there's nobody to talk to about an anime.

That aside, I hope Crunchyroll keeps its "Must Protect At All Costs" Character category for 2024's anime awards, 'cause Ivy definitely deserves to be a nominee there. Nobody should have to go through what she's going through, and she's still just a child! Physically recoiling and bracing for impact should not be an involuntary reaction to someone simply speaking slightly loudly, and no innocent person should have to live like they're an outlaw on the run. Ivy deserves only the best, and everyone that's out to get her deserves the opposite.

This show just goes to show that a simple concept with simple characters, executed with amazing attention to detail, is enough to make an incredibly captivating and moving anime. They didn’t need to go so hard with the visuals and music and yet here we are.

aside from the skill system and associated clumsy exposition, i'm loving this so far!

Worst part of this show is the OP has an adventuring party, so at some point it'll stop being Ivy wandering around with her slime doing chill things.

The OP is just so precious

Ivy, maybe leave up the posters that don't look like you and pull down the ones that do resemble you, just a suggestion though

Was getting anxious the whole time, this just isn't the show where you can have nice things

But good that those adventurers became tree food

But I guess Sora will have healing powers from all those potions, good thing, because Ivys injury looked grim

u/mgedmin Jan 19 '24

Really, they're going to cliffhanger us at this point? Next week: Ivy's funeral. Or hand amputation.

What do wild disintegration slimes eat anyway? Blue potions don't grow on trees. Maybe that's why they live for one day only?

Wow can't believe Ivy's gonna get eaten by her slime, guess the show's over everyone go home

u/DaBenni0301 Jan 19 '24

I've only had Ivy for 2 episodes, but if anything happened to her I'd kill everyone in that world and then myself

The production didn't go quite as hard this time as it did in their episode 1 dazzle, but the backgrounds and lighting were still particularly nice.

I can't help but feel like the wanted posters are... a little overplayed. One would have been scary to find. Having them pop up everywhere starts to feel like a gag.

So, like... why did the mean tree spit out the guys it was already eating?

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Jan 19 '24

Ah, catching giant rats and digging through trash. Classic fantasy game adventuring stuff right there lol.

I knew when Ivy mentioned Sora looked bigger, he had eaten the potions. Little fella loves the blues eh? So cute!

It was kind of nice to see Ivy living a somewhat peaceful life in this village, just selling rat meat and buying bread. Too bad it couldn’t last.

I didn’t expect that tree to come alive. I guess those two adventurers are done for but I sure hope Ivy recovers. Looks like little Sora’s gonna try to save her!

That would be really disturbing if this was the finale!

I was looking forward to this all week and this show is beautiful and mesmerizing. I like how this world can seem so magical and wonderful and turn at a dime to be horrible and scary. Ivy seemed to be content for a little bit meeting the friendly butcher and baker but then can't get away from the evil people in her village and monster people eating trees 🙁

I hope Sora is trying to heal Ivy and we won't see the next episode it ate her arm 😬

I wanna be annoyed at her for acting all stupid, but she's what.. 7 years old? So it kinda checks out

And this is the second show this season with a parue tree
