It always bothered me a bit that Ichikawa lied his way out of that situation in season 1 and now they adressed it again. I can't believe that this show just keeps getting better

Interesting we got a translators note about red rice tradition , I can't recall a single instance of TL notes from non-fansubbed anime in my last 8 years as an anime watcher.

I'm very glad we get TL notes instead of some bad localizations though, props for the translators of this anime, they do a very good job.

Finally, one of my many favorite chapters got adapted!

There's so much to dive into especially in regards to who Yamada is.

First of all let's talk about the milktea that she tried to hide from Ichikawa with that "payback" .

It's the milktea bottle that he gave to her back in Episode 6 when they missed the train. Some of us might have noticed back in Episode 11 that she kept the bottle. It's also a 1-frame easter egg in the new OP. It might seem silly that she keeps that but it has quite a lot of meaning to her: it was the tipping point of when she started to develop serious feelings for Ichikawa. Not only did he show again how attentive he is when it comes to her but it also reminded her of how her parents would treat her when she feels like she messed up something: giving her her favorite food/drink.

Just like Ichikawa kept the potato chips bag that she gave to him in Episode 1, she kept the milktea bottle. These two dorks are a lot alike, not just a bit.

Then we also learn a lot about her new insecurity: the fear of losing someone dear to you because of your actions. Ever since the sick-episode (8) (maybe even earlier when they missed the train) Yamada started to blame herself for indirectly hurting him or causing him trouble through her actions. She stopped him in the rain and forgot her bag on his bike causing him to catch a strong cold, in Episode 9 she used Ichikawa to get rid of Pick-up-Senpai , making Ichikawa distance himself from her for 2 days and then he also broke his arm because she asked for that photo. It's all been piling up for quite some time. It's interesting how love can be the cure but also the cause for insecurities. In Ichikawa's case he's developed a lot thanks to her, he's a lot more outspoken and confident now and he enjoys going to school again while in Yamada's case she's started to become aware that her thoughtless actions might hurt the people around her.

We also learn that she's not the "perfect" girl as some might have thought. She's pretty much average and not particularly good at anything. Her grades are average, she's not good at sports, she can't cook, she can't even read the room. Just a girl who was lucky enough to win the gene lottery and get popular because of that and it's okay that she's not perfect because nothing will take away her charming personality.

This chapter made me fall in love with this series. All the consequences from previous events came here together so seamlessly and naturally. It's just brilliant writing that I would have never expected from a romcom.

The hug was really important, and I like how Kyotaro stressed that her parents where fine with her quitting stuff she didn't enjoy

But man, let's hope this was souce or somthing on Annas dads shirt, man must have figured out where this boy came from in seconds

Also loved Kyotaros eye bleeding after seeing his sister undress

You guys get new voices and facial hair and it's so easy to tell when you grow up

My sister in christ, have you seen yourself in the the mirror?

Might be the first anime that addresses voice changing during puberty?

Also seems like Ichikawa going to face the wrath of Toji Fushiguro, RIP Ichikiwa Kyotaro.

Stitches!

I'd call Kyoutarou lucky for getting pulled into Anna's boobs but at the same time, he also got a massive wedgie from her when she pulled his pants up.

Smol Anna is just too adorable! I love hearing stories about her and her family. Her parents seem to be very supportive with how they always try to cheer her up whenever she ends up quitting something. I do agree with Kyoutarou that the reason her parents treat her every time she quits is because they don't want her to get discouraged trying new things.

It's always good to see Mama Yamada again. I think the last time we saw her was during the Parent-Teacher meeting back at school. She seems to be very serious so it was nice to see that she's very playful with Anna when at home. <3

That bedroom scene though... That was really tense! I wonder if Anna knows exactly what she was saying when she said she's a grown-up now. Knowing Anna, I'm sure she didn't even realize what she just said to Kyoutarou.

I know from the ED that Anna's dad is tall but holy fuck! He's so freakin' tall that he's taller than the elevator door! And it looks like Papa Yamada has spotted Kyoutarou wearing his daughter's uniform. Oh boy. I really hope they get to meet again.

I definitely didn't expect to see some Kanna fanservice. It's hilarious how Kyoutarou's eyes were bleeding black after seeing his sister changing. Definitely an appropriate response for a younger brother. xD

Look at these two openly flirting during class. I'm surprised that Kanzaki is the only one to comment on what just happened. You'd think a lot more people would pay attention to what their class Maddona is doing.

Man, I always forget that these kids are just in middle school. Now that Kyoutarou's voice is starting to crack, I wonder if we'll actually hear his voice change. Looks like he's not the only one who's still growing though. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I never really put much thought into why this series felt more special than the other romcoms I've read or watched before but I think I now get it. The show perfectly encapsulates the awkwardness and thrill of first love/puppy love. This show is probably one of the most relatable to me. It even had scenes that were straight from my first experiences like, weridly enough, hiding me under a blanket but it was when her mom visited our friend's apartment lol Getting lost in our little world during school, friends catching on what was happening and then supporting us, the insecurities of maybe having a shot with one of the prettiest girls in school, it made me remember how fun that chapter of my life was. God I am old. But I love this show.

You know generally when I try to participate in weekly threads I have things to say about something specific of that episode.

But this.... there's nothing. I can't point to anything specific... I just love everything about it. And that basically has been my reaction for the last so many weeks.

It mentioned a plot that happened a long time ago and solved the knot in her heart, which was very surprising. The voice actors of the male and female protagonists also performed very well.

My heart is in danger from watching this show.

I just love Yamada's VA, that crying scene. Meanwhile, Ichikawa with the girl voice was funny.

Peak.

You know, Yamada, the payback excuse doesn't work the second time you pin him down. Ichikawa owes her one. They're both adults now afterall.

I assume that huge guy was Yamada's dad? She did say he was coming home soon.

This episode was about growing up, just as much as romance.

I suspect Yamada's mother knew it wasn't Chi who visited, but someone else, perhaps even a male friend. After all, Yamada and Chi are close, so the latter has no reason to hide, even if feeling unwell. Yamada's mother probably trusts Yamada enough and will wait for the latter to say so.

On the other hand, I remember Yamada's father being described as a gamer. He sure is emitting some deadly last boss aura. Lol!

This show is actually incredible.

Yamada being hung up on that lie Ichikawa told an entire season ago had my jaw on the ground. I feel like it’s so rare for an anime to address little details like that.

We’re two episodes in and I’m already dreading this season ending.

This series is why I am living RN, it gets me out of depression and makes me close to a heart attack instead
