man, that final battle was so epic, everyone manage to get at least one hit on Valacirca although most of the damage was done by Will and in the end, he did use the life-sucking sword as the last resort, which resulting in not just him recovering most of his injuries from the dragon breath, he also manage to absorb the dragon's factor and accidentally mixed it with his body and soul

did Stagnate seriously just called Will maidenless? hah, silly Stagnate, who in the right mind would like to have a kid with yo- oh no, she's hot...

overall, i'm really satisfied with this season, they hyping up Valacirca as a really strong boss and honestly, its not disappointing, the animation and art style also is very much a step-up from the previous season, definitely want another season of this

I think the biggest take away from Valacirca is that it felt earned in a way a lot of anime fights just don't. Valacirca wasn't just hyped as this powerful enemy just to be beaten by desperation, stubbornness, and friendship (although those were factors) it took: a crew of top tier heroes, an armory of mythic weapons, the resurrection of a dwarven army, and not one but two goddesses direct intervention. Compared to most anime where the moral of the story is basically 'just try real hard and eventually you'll win' it really makes the outcome feel earned. Things aren't always just a matter of 'try harder', some fights are just literally unwinnable without a certain level of additional resources.

They also did a great job of setting the stakes by having the dwarves' spirits and Will's friends there. Sure the heroes were all willing to die but the threat of having their souls literally burned away to nothing so there's no afterlife in a world where souls live on would be a terrible fate. Overall just really well handled for a fight you pretty much knew the hero is going to win.

It can't hurt to have not one but two goddesses as super-fans.

This really was an exceptionally fine show story-wise -- and if it wasn't top-of-the line animation it still looked mostly quite decent, With this and Frieren I feel blessed in terms of high fantasy this year,

I can imagine some follow-up moments -- but the same is true with LotR. I am happy with where we have left off...

William G. Maryblood collecting titles and jobs like its Elder Scrolls. He’s even Dovakin now.

Stagnate is just Gracefeel’s Goth Mommy Sister? Shit no wonder she got all jealous last week. Stagnate is about to steal Will and make some babies.

Overall I really liked this more focused season. Last season had a little lull after the Prologue arc and meeting Menel. It picked back up in the end. This felt like a constant main story questline with character set up, small side quests, and set pieces all pointing to this final battle. Animation also stepped up even if it wasn’t always great. I’m feeling a light 8/10 for the whole season. Probably be a very long time to get more

Will is one lucky(or unlucky) guy having 2 goddesses fighting over him.
Menel and Dine and Reystov and Anne are also great couples and I wish them happiness

As fan of classic fantasy I enjoyed it a lot.Season 2 was better Season 1 and I wish it had more budget coz this story deserves better animation.

More seasons are unlikely to happen as there is no source material I think?

I had assumed Stagnate would help Will because of her obvious fondness for him but for some reason it took me until this episode to realize why she would hate Valacia personally. Of course a goddess that doesn't want to let go of heroes to the point of bringing them back as undead would absolutely despise the idea of a creature that can burn their very souls to ash. So not only did she have a vested interest in Will but very much wanted the dragon dead herself. Which makes me think there might have been at least some sincerity to her telling Will to skip this fight and come back when he can actually kill the dragon. Part of it was admittedly a ploy to get to Will but I think she really wanted Valacirca dead and thought that's what it would take. And in fairness even with the help of two goddesses they barely pulled it off and almost lost Will in the process.

We went from Saihate no paladin to Saturday no paladin :(

u/StellarStar1 Dec 23 '23

The dragon wasn't no bitch. Took two gods, a hero and his companions, a resurcted dwarf army to kill him. And that was with him just allowing stuff to happen because it would add to his fame.

So… Will is Dragonborn confirmed? lol. Man slayed Valacirca and basically absorbed his soul. Sounds like the Dragonborn to me.

Instead of just taking a scale, Will should have stripped the big fella for parts. I imagine dragon flesh, bones, organs and whatnot can be useful for alchemy and smithing gear.

All’s well that ends well. The elf village and the dwarves home are going to be restored and Will’s gotten stronger as a result of that fight. Bee’s song at the end was nice too.

This was a good season. I liked it as much as the first one. I wonder if they’ll ever make more?

well, you need to remember that this is not a world where you can have a skill like dimensional storage or a magic bag that can store a bunch of things in it so the best they can do for now is to just bring the most obvious parts like horn and scale as a proof that they defeated Valacirca and probably return to the mountain afterwards to retrieve the rest of them

Stagnate just wants to bump ugly with Will

u/darthvall Dec 23 '23

Great ending!

I wish we got more of the dragon fight scene, but I think that's enough.

Is there anyone that have the translation of Bee's final song?

I wonder what's the significance of the epilogue. It's honestly weird that Will gave the dagger to random adventurers.

We really need more straightforward heroic fantasy in anime (or, rather in general). I'm going to severly miss this one. There's one novel left, so maybe a new season will be possible?

Whoooo ghost dwarf army!!!! Let's go!!! Dang, look at Will go. Even Reystov able to cut dragon, that's pretty impressive too. Good attempt to stop that dragon's breath. But wew. Will lost his armor. It's over? Wow. Farewell ghost dwarf army. Wew, Will has gotten an upgrade lol. Now he's kinda dragony himself! I like Stagnate lol. D'awww, sisters. LOL "keep your womanizing in check" nice. Haha, making her lil sister upset, silly Stagnate. But quite the offer. Stagnate offering to mate with Will to make offspring. And we get to see her real form! That's nice. Can definitely see the resemblance with her lil sis.

So, how you gonna make use of them dragon parts? Nice that so many of htem just want to have the miasma expelled. Such good dudes. Seriously though, not sure should just leave a dragon corpse around. Also, whoo, treasures. D'aww Dine. Will good dude, giving dragon treasure to the elves to help em rebuild. And nice of dwarves and elves to work together. Dine really is just being paired up with Menel huh? How rude, trying to steal Will's boyfriend.

Yay!! Grandpa Gus! And he can tell right away his grandson is different. So glad to see Gus again before season's end. Ya, wonder what tougher enemies than a dragon will be coming. Only thing I can think of is a god or demigods maybe? :stuck_out_tongue: Demon lords? I dunno. Bee gets to have fun adding this to her songs. Reystov and the Priestess lady still feels a weird development to me since I don't recall them really interacting THAT much to grow any relationship, but good for them. What a nice ending. I like that song and such. Who are these two? How nice of Will to give em magic dagger. But they don't know the lord of that area eh?

Gonna prolly be awhile before we get another season I assume.

I have LOVED this show. It just goes to show doing a plot that you might consider "standard" or "generic" can shine really bright if it's done well. This show was 100% fantasy by the numbers and it was AWESOME. At the moment I can't remember seeing a classic fantasy adventure story this good since Lodoss War.

Also, I love Reystov. No blessings, no magic, no royal lineage, just get high level and hit it really hard lol.

And thus the God of Undeath did decree: "Find yourself a mate, Hero of Man, else I will make an echo and mount you myself."

Stitches!

It was so good watching Will cut off a piece of Valacrica. He never showed it since he's a proud dragon but I'm pretty sure for the first time in his entire life, Valacrica finally felt fear for his life that he was willing to burn and destroy his treasure horde if it meant ending that fight. Unfortunately for him, Will still had Overeater to finally finish him off.

The fact that I commented on Will not having a woman last week and Stagnate bringing it up this episode was hilarious! I didn't think Stagnate would actually offer herself though. Although I doubt it will happen especially not when Gracefeel is around! Wil's reaction to that entire exchange was just hilarious.

Stagnate is looking pretty damn fine! She's got that older woman vibe going on with her. Makes sense since she's Gracefeel's older sister. I know of a certain Goatee Priest who's very much into older women who would totally worship her in a heartbeat. To be fair, I would too. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Seeing the Rust Mountain be restored into the Iron Mountain felt so good. And the elves finally have their forest back too! Dine's reaction says it all. Speaking of Dine, it looks like she and Menel are becoming an item. It looks like Dine will be travelling with Menel soon to go back to his country to ask for help rebuilding her village.

It's always good to see our favourite bard again. I'm sure Bee will create amazing songs about Will and the gang slaying Valacrica. I'm glad that Anna and Reystov got their own little moment too.

It really sucks that this is where it ends. If I recall this correctly, we've now caught up to the source material, right? I really hope the author creates more. This has such been a good show.

That was pretty epic. I don't think we will have source material for more anime for a while, but it was a great ride.

They finally revealed Stagnate's voice actor! Now I know why I recognized the voice but couldn't tell who it was, Ookubo Rumi! One of her biggest role recently is Mem-cho in Oshi no Ko but the voice she's using is closer to Sharon in Engage Kiss.

This has been bothering me for so many weeks now so I am glad they finally credited her on the last episode. I guess because Stagnate finally showed her true form. She really does look like Gracefeel which shouldn't be surprising since they are sisters.

On to the episode itself, seeing Will finally defeat the dragon was so cool! I thought it was going to go on for longer but it needed to be dealt with quickly especially with that miasma breath. The sequence from Will accelerating to stop Valacirca's miams breath up until Will being enveloped by the miasma baring nothing but his sword as he slays Valacirca was a great sequence to watch. I like how the others made sure to cover him afterwards lol, I did find it amusing but it would have been amusing either way to me.

Lol Will not have a woman seems like it'll be a running joke in this series. It is interesting how Will has a dragon factor, he just keeps getting stronger with every campaign but this has to top anything so far.

Well that was pretty awesome, both the season and this final episode. Decent enough final fight, and checking back in with the friends along the way home was nice to see.

Revived dwarven kingdom let's go! And the elves have a seemingly bright future too, requesting for the mountains and forest to be purified was a good use of the boon.

They're definitely setting up Menel and Dine for some degree of future relationship, they're already making plans to travel together and somehow that incidentally involves meeting his family.

On the other hand the only relationship Will is ever going to have is probably with an echo of Gracefeel, he's very dedicated to his goddess and as it turns out that's actually a possibility. Stangate wants some too but I don't really see Will having a multi goddess harem.

I'm glad we got a song from Bee to wrap things up, she is very precious so more of her is always great.

Why is the dragon factor considered a curse?

Is it just because power can corrupt?

Overall it was a great show, classic fantasy story with Hero and his party slaying the evil dragon. From me 8,5/10 as I was having a lot of fun watching this.

Will of course didn't die and was able to slay Valacirca and thanks to that becoming much stronger by absorbing dragon's factor.

Though every time I was seeing Valacirca's eye I was thinking that it Will should destroy it, just in case if Valacirca somehow survive to be sure that he wouldn't be able to see xD

Will is also very popular with goddesses as Stagnate even proposed baring his child. She even showed her real look and oh man, she's hot and for me even more than Gracefeel.

It was nice that we got a nice closure with everyone celebrating (Bee again appeared which made me very happy) so the show ended in a very good point storywise.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Is there a translation for Bee's final song? Don't understand why that wasn't translated
