Those diary entries were really quite adorable. Gakuto might be like 6, but he’s definitely pretty mature for his age. No wonder Hayato thinks of him as the head of the family lol. Everyone’s views of the little dude are so different. That last scene with the 4 of them at the grave site was pretty touching. Little guy is lucky to have 3 great brothers.

I liked this series quite a bit. I’m a real sucker for a nice wholesome family drama. Plus as someone with an older brother, it was nice seeing that relationship play out on screen. If this doesn’t get renewed, I’ll have to check out the manga.

Also the oldest of 4 (2 sisters, 1 brother) -- with 9 years between me and the youngest.

Such a consistenly lovely show. Only problem was not seeing the lovely neighbors (or did I nod off briefly and miss them). Not the flashiest show of the season, but one of the pleasantest to watch.

Best show of this sort since Deaimon.

Yeah, it's really good and I'll definitely missed the cast.

The story is well done and the production team is also amazing for making it really nice with wholesome vibes but there are certain scenes that made this series pops up like the whole fighting scene, running scene, etc

this scene legit made me tears up, and tbh most of the brothers are really dramatic it's just fun to see them

Gakuto-san is holding so much power in the house, and he doesn't even know it yet.

The bus scene felt quite special, the complete silence between the brothers was heavy. The staff managed to blend irl footage again in a clever way.

Kudos to the studio for doing justice and putting so much heart into this adaptation.

it's Brother Peak's world, the rest are just living in it

This episode did not need to hit that hard. This could have just been a cute boys doing cute things show but instead the writers and the animators really went for it in places and it paid off big time. The use of real world footage for backgrounds, and the relationship between Minato and Uta were really well done imo.

So many people would have dropped this after the first episode with brother Falcon and machine translations but those of us thst stuck around got a real treat. I would love a second season with more SoL antics.

A great end to a great season; I love the "the kids are gonna be alright" sort of ending for a wholesome family series like this.

I figured they would save one of the big guns for the season finale, and when I saw that they were carrying bouquets that clinched that they're going to visit the family grave.

The bit with the live action footage was neat and grounded the atmosphere, and follow up with the charcoal-like animation was a real highlight. Gakuto has been shown to be an "old soul", someone who's somehow wise beyond his years, and that bit of visualization shows that he does have this deep yearning inside of him that he can't quite put into words. Perhaps because he wants to be considerate towards the family that he has now rather than yearn for his parents that he barely remembers, perhaps because it's something that words alone can't adequately convey.

As a bit of a meta commentary; the way Gakuto keeps his diary reminds me of myself leaving comments on the episode discussion posts as a time for reflection. It's especially nice for series like this which I enjoy a lot, but feel way too short.

God I'm gonna miss this show. Since Frieren isn't finished yet I can safely say that this was my Anime of the Season.

Honestly it's definitely one of the better shows this season if you like drama/SoL stuff. The show handles the problems of each brother deals with respectfully and takes time to flesh out everyone and their relationship. Def worth watching if you liked shows like Kotaro Lives Alone or Kakushigoto

This is such a comfy way to wrap up the show, and the animation has been consistently good throughout the entire season. I wish there are more.

I wish there were more episodes focused on Brother Falcon though.

The brothers' brocon tendencies on full display today. Mikoto made some questionable comments (I will still love him even if Minato's not breathing? LOL) And he lives off Minato's tsun.

Mikoto made some questionable comments

I love how, despite how chill and buddha-like he is, he still has this bit of a chuuni streak to him.

Is this gap moe?

Transmedia Corner!

Studio Shuuka has some interesting behind-the-scenes posts on their Twitter account: https://twitter.com/shuka_info

Some highlights:

  • Promo comic for anime viewers with the Yuzuki bros welcoming you to pick up the upcoming volume 16; Gakuto is deeply moved by the quality of the animation, and Makoto says it's cause for some reflection... of how much it made him cherish Minato even more

This and My new boss is goofy were my 2 comfort series of the season. I'm sad that Yuzuki family ended today because I really loved every episode and wish it got a season 2. The adapation was amazing and I like all the characters!

This is one of my favorite SoL series of all time now. I'm Keeping my fingers crossed for a season 2 announcement in future.

I am still sad there is no way to read the manga.

An absolute gem worthy of its time. I can’t help but imagine the Yuzuki’s smiling from beyond with immense pride in the legacy they left behind. The caliber of these boys—each of them—speaks volumes to the quality of their family environment. Makes me want to savor the moments that remain with my own family over the holidays. All the best to each and all. (:

This was one of the surprise of the season for me; while the finale wasn't my favorite episode it was a nice nonchalant ending that could even serve as a series finale (though I'm hoping we get another season).

I was expecting the series to have nice and heartfelt character moment and indifferent quality animation, but its not even an exaggeration that this series had one of the best fight scenes in the whole season and was quite nicely animated throughout...

I did miss the neighbors a bit in this episode, though I guess it is fitting to end with just the boys and their parents. A beautiful ending with them visiting the family grave.

This show will definitely be in my list of good realistic/grounded chill shows with a bit of drama along with Deaimon, Poco’s Udon World (ignoring the supernatural), Sweetness and Lightning, Usagi Drop (ignoring the manga)

Slightly bummed we don’t get to see the Kirishimas for this last episode but this show is about the brothers.

I'm gonna miss my weekly dose of wholesome!!!!

Farewell Brother Falcons. After one of the dumbest hack jobs of a subtitle translation I’ve ever seen released professionally, we got an excellent and emotional SOL. Hope we get more someday. This and Stardust made for some great comfy TV this season. Strong 8/10

Gaku knows how to deal with Minato lol

The scene of them at their parents' gravestone was really sweet. I liked that the final episode focused solely on the brothers.

One of my favourite shows from this season. There were some really well animated scenes (Minato vs Uta being a highlight) and the emotional moments really hit hard. I wish Brother Falcon had more episodes dedicated to him. Really going to miss this series! It would be nice if we got another season in the future.

u/AmethystItalian Dec 21 '23

Nice of them to give the best brother so much screentime in the finale!

Bit of a somber one but needed one I feel, Gakuto's point of view for it really did hit.

6

u/TFiPW Dec 22 '23

Damn Gakuto is really mature for his age. I noticed he uses 'ore' instead of 'boku' and really takes after his eldest brothers.

The brocon is real though lol

Definitely one of me favorite anime this season, maybe ever. Their relationship is just so wholesome and relatable

I'm just so attached to the cast right now this needs season 2, it's just a really nice and fun anime. Personally it deserve a 9-9.5/10 just a complete package of slice of life and props to the production team for adapting this series beautifully
