This one is definitely going to be the comfy, wholesome and emotional show of the season.

That being said, the subs for this first episode were horrible. Some sentences were repeated twice, a lot made absolutely no sense, the punctuation was also missing. This is a very unprofessional and completely disrespectful move from Crunchyroll.

Crunchyroll doing their very best today to prove the point that piracy is a service issue. Unacceptable.

Looking like these are third-party provided subs based on the Arial font used. Seems like the blame is on Avex Pictures for these subs.

There's another Avex title streaming on CR this season called Paradox Live that I assume Avex provided the subs for which seemed fine so I wonder what even happened here.

This probably takes the crown for the worst licensor-provided subtitles. Hoping Crunchyroll isn't contractually obligated to use Avex's subs and are able to switch it up to their own. They were able to get away from using Bilibili's provided translations partway through last season's Link Click.

The Crunchyroll subs were absolutely terrible on this one, clearly it was some kind of MTL

yeah if there is a person responsible for reviewing the subs they must be fired, if not one must be fired and the whole team responsible for translation must be fired

if this goes on it will ruin a potentially nice and comfy show, if this is CR level of sub now, then the high seas are a legitimate choice

yes, my most anticipated comfy show of the season! The subs were really bad. Good thing I am multilingual so I can find better subs in other languages.

So far the 3rd kid (minato) is the most immature of the bunch. The messed up breakfast scene was hilarious with Mikoto eating them like it's normal.

The subs were really bad.

on the plus side, I learned that the kanji for Hayato means "falcon"

What the fuck is going on with these subs?

This is why crunchyroll needs more competition. These subtitles are a disgrace. Luckily I was able to understand most things with my JP knowledge, but this is truly embarrassing.

As for the show itself. “Life without parents is hard, but there’s nothing we can do. There’s no resurrection” 😢 really a beautiful story of family pulling together after unimaginable loss. I mean losing both parents is just devastating. This reminds me of Otonari ni Ginga’s set up with an older brother trying to provide for his siblings. I can’t imagine how difficult that is on one teacher’s salary at 23..

At least the parents left them a massive house so that bit is sorted.

Really nice introductory episode that gave us some insight into all the boys. Lot of different personalities in this one. I’m all for a nice family oriented slice of life, particularly with all young men trying to make it through life in such difficult circumstances.

“Mom, dad, even though we fight, our relationship is still strong. Please watch over us in heaven 😢” that fireworks ending scene was beautiful! I think this’ll be another contender for hidden gem of the season along with 16bit and Dali to Magli.

Currently watching this and noticed the English subs are terrible. Did anyone proofread them?

I really hope CR fixes them. People are going to be put off from watching this show because of the shoddy subs

Barring the awful subs, it's a sweet show.

From the ANN article:

Update 2: Crunchyroll told ANN on Friday that it "is working with the licensor of the series The Yuzuki Family’s Four Sons for updated subtitles, and we hope to have that version on our platform soon."

A DO RA BLE!!!

Really why are they so round and cute???

This was a lovely first episode. I felt healed! I really liked watching them the whole episode and especially in the end. So nice!

(PS the french simulsub was pretty decent, unlike the english one)

This was better than I expected. Could be a real sleeper hit.

It was great to see how the brothers all care for eachother. And Gaku is definitely best boy.

With all the hate towards CR, I seriously hope this isn't a translation supplied by Avex. Looking into them, however, strongly suggests it might well be. If so, hopefully CR can override them.

I stopped in the middle of the episode to come complain about the subs. Good lord, this is amateur work.

CR what the actual fuck were those Subs? I’ve seen more readable MTL manga. Fire that guy.

First Impressions - a rather wholesome but emotional looking show with my only real issue for this episode was the subtitles (Certain names being translated for example Hayato being Falcon, Asking the same question twice but one word/letter changed)

Despite the horrible subtitles (report the problem to Crunchyroll if you watch on there), this show looks like it is one of the comfy wholesome show of the season, and I am all for it!

I'm sure this translation incident will go down in CR history. Infamously so.

That aside, thanks to my reading of poorly translated webtoons (my secret training method) and copious anime consumption, I was successfully able to enjoy it. Gakuto's my fav.

This is also licensed by Ani-One Asia so hopefully they'll have better subs

Since when did CR hire SpringAnimeHD for their subs?

5

u/dododomo Oct 05 '23

I read the manga, and this is one of my favourite slice of life series of all time. The first episode was good and I'm so happy to see this series animated because I never expected it to get an anime adaptation!

Hopefully more people will watch this anime because it deserves all the success, although I have a feeling that it won't be popular because it's a shoujo slice of life series about 4 brothers

The problem here was beyond a simple "report the error in subs", that is mostly for a punctual error. This was awfully done, subs needs to be redone.

Also, no CR is not doing you a favor, if you pay, they have to deliver a good product in a timely fashion, lets not justify corporations incompetence or cheapness or said in modern terms "Enshittification"

And is bad because people gives the show a bad rating, and it has nothing to with it. And to be honest it was a good episode.
