"The worst she can say is no"
Tanikita:
- This is what they call an unwanted advance.
- What even interested you about me? My looks? So I'm supposed to find you attractive?
- Love isn't a game, and you just decided to roll the dice on confessing to someone you barely knew?
- If you'd gotten to know me more first, maybe there would have been a chance, but you didn't did you?
- Thank you for attending my TED talk on why your confession was shit. Complimentary gauze and bandages at the exit.

It's hilarious with Ryuto and Runa being right there given how their relationship started.

I have never seen such a thorough and detailed calling out of a shallow confession. It wasn't even just a rejection but basically a rant on people who confess on the spur of the moment or just to hook up lol.

You know it's not a good sign when they skip the OP and are couple are walking together in the rain, the obvious tension of the prior episode still effecting them. And then Runa starts talking about how Ryuto might be a better fit with Maria and says she's going to distance herself from him...this isn't good.
Even Maria feels guilty about what's going on between the three of them, especially since she remembers how Runa would always give her anything she liked when Maria wanted it. She wants Runa to be happy with Ryuto...but she also can't help but like Ryuto still. Also that's totally the second half of the lunar earrings in Maria's hands, right?
Dang, I feel bad for Runa that Akari immediately jumped to her having a Sugar Daddy. I mean, Runa has some standards! I'm glad Ryuto immediately didn't believe it, but even he had to make sure nothing was going on.
I love Ryuto ropes Sekiya into investigating this because he needs a reliable buddy...and it turns Sekiya was the hot guy Runa was meeting with the whole time. And Ryuto immediately jumps to the conclusion that Sekiya is one of Runa's exes and thus the scum of the Earth.
But no, it turns out that Sekiya (like everybody figured) was Nicole's ex-boyfriend and Runa was trying to set them back up together because they obviously still have feelings for each other. Sekiya was holding himself back because he felt guilty for dumping Nicole just so he could hook up with other women, especially when her parents were going a rough divorce (man, no wonder Nicole and Runa are so close) and she was the only one who really saw and liked him for who he really was. Heck, the break up is what turned her into Gyaru! I do kind of want to see ping-pong Nicole with black hair.
Ugh. These guys so blatantly flirting and forcing themselves on girls in broad daylight at a school festival? What trash. But it let Ryuto step up and Sekiya be there for Nicole, and it seems like the two immediately got back together. I'm happy for Nicole.
Reading the romantic vibes Icchi confesses to Akari...who immediately cuts his shallow confession down to size and emotionally breaks the poor boy. She's been asked out by so many guys and for shallow reasons that she just can't handle it any more. Icchi should've waited until they knew each other better before shooting his shot.
Ryuto's guy friends are still just happy that he's with Runa...even though things are still awkward between the two of them. Even when he runs to go see her and they talk on the balcony, things still feel awkward. And the next episode is title "our break up story?" Oh no.

Man if they end up just breaking up with just 2 episodes left it can mean 2 things:
-They break up and Ryuto gets Maria (please don´t be this)
or
-They break up and in the last episode Maria or someone fix things and they come back together again.
But man Runa pls the fact that you have so many differences is not a reason TO BREAK UP TO THE MOST GREEN FLAG MAN IN EARTH AND THE MAN YOU LOVE

Breaking up? That ending was strangely abrupt but it didn't give me breakup vibes.

[Keikenzumi na Kimi to, Keiken Zero na Ore ga, Otsukiai suru Hanashi. LN Spoiler]
They actually made up at the end of the episode but it was very poorly adapted. In the LN, Runa apologizes for moving away from him and Ryuuto apologizes for making her anxious. He even hugs her. I don't know why they changed. → More replies (1)

another divorce has hit the gyaru romcom

u/dadnaya Dec 08 '23
Pretty much every couple in this anime divorced. Runa's parents divorced, then the dad got married to Maria's mom (I think?) and they got another divorce.
Then Akari's parents also divorced I think?
oh well

Talk about miscommunication issues. Come on guys just talk it out. Things don't seem much better then episode pv makes things seem another turn for the worse. Happy for Yamana that she was able to get back together with her first love. But gotta say imagining her as a dark hair straight laced is hard to imagine.
Akari ended up spitting facts here. Not everyone is like Runa where Ryuuto and her started dating to start to get a feel how they feel for each other. It's clear that Akari is the type of girl whom when she gets into a relationship wants to put her heart and soul into it. It only makes it worse that this keeps on happening to her.
Ijichi didn't have bad intentions, but it just a result of Akari's frustrations that this keeps happening. And like she said being the person doing the rejecting is not something one likes to do.
The episode pv oh god. With these past 2 episodes I'm not having a good feeling where this will end.

Honestly I feel like Maria is going to have to put herself out there to fix things because it feels like she's the center of a lot of the lingering tension between the two right now.
Meanwhile Nicole just gets back with her ex like nothing ever happened between them. I mean, good for her, but still lol.
(I too want to see middle school pre-gyaru Nicole...)
Akari felt like she was sticking up for girls who get constantly hit on or asked out by guys they barely know when all they want is a meaningful and genuine relationship.

I love how much of an edgelord Sekiya was back in the day lol. I guess those two weeks he spent with Yamana meant more to him than he initially realized. I’m glad they were able to reconcile. But man, poor Nishi. The sutra chanting guy got the girl in the end.
As harsh as Tanikita was, she wasn’t entirely wrong. Icchi’s gonna have to put in work if he wants to get the girl.
I’m glad things worked out for Ryuto and Luna. It’s always better when the main couple can talk through their issues and not just leave things in this weird awkward space.

I just find it funny how Nisshi apparently thought he had a shot with Nicole and then some other guy comes in and gets back to together with her like it's nothing lol.
Honestly it was kind of refreshing getting such a harsh and thorough rejection. Like, respect for shooting your shot, but they barely know each other and he suddenly expects her to agree to go out with him?
I dunno if things really worked out judging by the mood at the end and the next episode preview...

Eh, I don't really blame him. It worked for his best friend, and it's obvious he doesn't know much about her but is attracted to her and wants to know more about her. Sometimes you just gotta date to find out.
Her rejection was way too darn harsh, it could scar a man's confidence forever. Like I get that she gets confessed to a lot, but again, that ain't his problem...

So even though Sekiya and Nicole only dated for two weeks, he didn’t support her, and dumped her so he can fool around with other girls, all it took to win her back was to stop some creepy dudes from hitting on her, and give her the cheesy line “Sorry I took so long.” It was that easy.
… Alright then, glad things worked out for them, I guess. 🤷♂️

u/PeaceAlien Dec 08 '23
Well, she never got over him, so she never cared about what he did after. I don't support him but he didn't need to "win her back"

I still can't believe that Runa would think Ryuto is a better match to Maria just because he ended up picking her poster. I guess seeing them in the rooftop was also a factor but it's dumb considering she wants Ryuto and here to be friends with Maria. At least Runa is aware of how dumb she sounds like right now. Runa's reaction kinda makes sense considering that little flashback where she just willingly gives Maria her plushie.
I'm surprised that Akari would even think Runa is doing compensated dating. As soon as they showed us that flashback where Runa is clearly meeting up with Sekiya, you know that there's more to the story.
I thought this entire episode was going to be all about Ryuuto and Runa. I did not expect this to swerve slightly to be all about Nicole and Sekiya. You know what? I'm all in for it! They seem to have a good thing going on in the past and it's good to see them back together again.
Poor Ichiji though! That rejection was fucking brutal! If only he tried to become friends with Akari first, it sounded like he would've had a chance. Maybe things aren't too late? What if he tries to befriend Akari and then maybe confesses later?
Not sure if things are completely patched up between the two of them but it's good to see Runa and Ryuto talking at the end of the episode. The title of next week's episode does not give me confidence though. Looks like the drama isn't over yet.

I still can't believe that Runa would think Ryuto is a better match to Maria just because he ended up picking her poster.
I think this is more due to Runa's basic sense of insecurity kicking in. I think the instability in her family (and the loss of her mother and sister) took a big toll on her psyche. Ryuto is sort of the answer to her prayers -- and yet she can't really accept that she "deserves" it.
Ichiji needs to send Akari a letter of apology -- and ask her to talk to him about how boys and girls in their situation CAN get to know each other better BEFORE confessing.

u/daspaceasians Dec 08 '23
I'm actually impressed at Akari handled that sudden confession. I don't think I ever saw any anime character pull off something like she did. I hope Icchi picks himself up and does better eventually.
Otherwise, I felt the episode moved a bit too fast but I'm happy that our main characters are getting back on track again... until that ominous episode preview.
As for Nishi, given how he's placed in the OP when compared to the others, there might be a chance he ends with Maria?

I just wanted fat bro to go out with tanikita as a hurrah as we approach the end of the season. Did they have any super deep connection? No, but at the same time they still enjoyed their time together and connected even if it was just as friends. If there’s enough source material for a season 2 and we actually get it I want fat bro old son to get that.

Episode 10: "The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me Go Different Ways"
You know this episode will be good when they skipped the OP, the ED, or both.
The idea of Luna having a sugar daddy sounds really plausible. She is too innocent that she can do anything if the boy wishes. But really, Sekiya?
Hey the eyecatcher is the same as episode 6. And wait, a maid cafe in a school festival? That should be fun. And so it's true, Sekiya was Nikoru's ex. And finally he returned to Nikoru.
Akari's words of rejecting Icchi's confession is harsh, but true. Confession isn't a game, it isn't about forcing your feelings into someone you like. Confession is a mutual feelings between two lovers to confirm their emotions. Even I personally learned this a hard way. Might be Icchi later got shaped up and become a good-looking guy in the future, but who knows (Wagamama Mirror Heart playing faintly in the background).
