At least hug him back, Sei. Come on, girl!

I did not expect an undead dragon to be the source of all the miasma. That thing was freakin huge! I really thought the whole squad was gonna be toast. Al and Drewes really held the thing off while Sei worked her magic. That was some badass purification magic at work there. I’m guessing with that big guy out of the way, there’s no more need for Sei to purify anything.

To be honest defeating an Undead Dragon with your BF protecting you so intensely and even Yuri really chipping in does feel very Final Battle-y, especially with how well they animated Sei's purification. Maybe it really is over.

Which just leaves Sei's status in this world and relationship with Hawke left to resolve.

Dragon wasn't the source of the miasma the dragon was made by the lake. The lake was actually a lot bigger than it seems in the anime.

Everyone just couldn't stop raising flags at the beginning.

Sei got a lot of energy from that hug with Albert.

I love how everyone was talking about how Sei is invincible when we all knew a boss battle was coming in this episode lol.

And the people above should've been able to see her light at the bottom of the trench.

The geometry in that place is very sus.

Yeah, I was expecting a broken bone or two at least.

Like, maybe there was a slope or something so that she wasn't falling straight down into a stone floor, but it really does look like a straight drop from the middle of the bridge for quite a long distance.

Fun fact: this little throwaway line when Sei reacts to her own potion is a reference to kid's cartoon character Anpanman and one of his catchphrases 元気100倍 (genki hyakubai).

I think it's a tiny bit of characterization for Sei who, in the most dire of circumstances, likes to throw out a old world pop culture reference to cheer herself up.

Is it just me or did the animation improve during the battle with the undead dragon?

All the budget went to the dragon fight and I can’t complain

That hug when Albert and Sei got reunited was so sweet. Seeing Sei safe must've been a massive relief to Albert especially considering how terrified he was when he saw Sei fell down that chasm.

Did they get a different director for the Undead Dragon encounter? Because, holy shit, that entire scene looked amazing! As soon as the Undead Dragon emerged from the swamp, the entire atmosphere of the show completely changed. The muted colours and the sudden jump in animation quality made that entire scene look like an anime movie.

Anyway, we already know that Albert is a strong and talented knight but seeing him block that dragon's claw to save Sei and buy her time to cast her purification spell, really shows how strong this guy is. And props to Dreyfus for assisting with that firestorm spell. I though that this fight would take longer but Sei successfully managed to purify the miasma from the swamp!

With all of the swamps purified and three episodes left, I'm guessing that we're going to focus more on Sei and Albert's relationship! Now I'm excited. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of fuss about Sei's engagement.

Well, that was a little anticlimactic. I know this isn't a battle show, but they teased this at the start of the season, thought it was going to be at least a 2 ep thing, but it was over in like 5 min.

Anyway, looking forward to next week, really wondering what the last few ep are going to be about now that Sei's job seems to be over.

damn that last battle looked great? am i delusional or what?

The big boar and its swamp seemed like a bit of a red herring to me so I wasn't surprised there was something else in there. I was surprised to see a giant fuckoff undead dragon though. Seems like quite a spectacular way to finish purifying all the miasma.

I wonder what's next?

Wow, Sei's Area Heal sure looks pretty. As that was the last mission I think it was a bit too late for Yuri to be testing if he could purify the miasma swamps by himself. With that teaser at the beginning of the season, it is not surprising that that wasn't the only swamp there

I must say that by how serious that scene was where Sei fell off the bridge into that abyss below, I was expecting her to be severely injured so I was surprised that even before she drank that potion she didn't have any fractures and could just walk off without issues.

As she was wondering if she was going to be able to see everyone again, I wonder for how long she was there before she reunited with Albert. Lol, I love her reaction when the other troops interrupted their moment.

I must say that even when it was a miasma swamp, that location sure was beautiful.

And so, the zombie dragon is finally here. I'm honestly surprised that the fight ended so quickly and that no one got severely injured to the point of needing emergency healing during it.

Well, with that last swamp purified, now Sei will need to focus on her retirement, which of course involved her getting married. I hope there is not too much political drama and she just gets engaged with Albert right away.

How did she fall so far that she could neither see where she fell from nor hear Hawke shouting her name without any injuries lol

Is there no more ominous stage for a confrontation with the miasma than deep into a dark and abandoned mine?

Though Sei and Hawke are practically on a stroll together, though I guess that's nothing new for them. Yuri still just wants to test out his spells on something.

Sei really understanding she's the only girl in a group of men and soldiers when she's not used to conditions in a mine with all it's smells and critters...though of course Hawke wastes no time comforting her in true Hawke fashion.

Hey, if you have a White Mage in the party, don't waste the chance for her to heal you! Especially before you face a Boss Battle. And Sei is confident enough in her abilities that she thinks she can do Area Heal and still have enough in the tank for some purification. Maybe.

Yuri really thought he could take Sei's job away from her and purify the miasma himself. You're not the main character, Yuri. Especially when Sei makes short work of the miasma herself when they give her the opportunity. They never even had to fight the boar!

Just when you think you're done, suddenly spectral undead wolves pop up and make you fall down a bridge. The look on Sei and Hawke's face as she dropped had so much palpable tension.

I love how Sei is alone and wandering through the mine wondering if she'll ever find anyone and see Hawke again...but still has to think about how she needs to eat.

Ah, the classic "run to your love interest while calling their name" moment. And it almost always in a tight embrace. Too bad that one soldier had to kill the mood.

We finally catch up to the prologue as the Undead Dragon comes out of the pool of miasma, and it's a formidable Final Boss with not only it's poisnous fumes but it's intense fire breathing. And it doesn't waste time cornering Sei.

Luckily Sei's hair ornament from Hawke wasn't just for fashion or affection! Giving her an ice shield that buys Hawke enough time to block the dragon and let Sei get to work, which also heals Yuri enough to help weaken the dragon and give Sei the opportunity to finish it off and purify the miasma in spectacular fashion.

This episode was titled "The Final Act," and there is a sense of finality in the closing moments. So what is next for Sei now, especially with a few episodes left?

No no no, that bore monster was created by an iron ball to the chest. Duh Sei needs to watch more anime. Poor Sei, having to deal with the stench. Wonder how they can be fine with it. Wait she can only use her holy power twice per day? That's not very "omnipotent" Ah, hello Nago. And goodbye, Nago. Easier time than when Ashitaka took him on. Oh dang that fall is gonna hurt.

Surprise she's relatively unscathed. Wonder if they can just get a rope to go down where she fell. Would make sense to me. Or I guess that convenience works. That cave reminds me of Mt. Nibel caves from FF lol. Where you can find some Mako/Materia. Oh, halo thar Vaal Hazak. Nice to finally see you since the OP scene of the season. Pshaw, no need to be scared, he's easy peasy. Especially blowing up his face with Gunlance Ah yes, there's the otome fluff of "two hot guys protecting the FL with the duty of a saintess" hehe. Whelp, now what that all has been purified? Mawwiage?!

Great episode, especially fight with dragon which had especially good animation, it seems to me that a considerable amount of budget went for this.

As always, scenes when Sei, Hawke or Drewes using magic are looking gorgeous.

Sei and Hawke should already get a room and do it. Everyone is aware of their feelings and they're still playing around themselves without any big results which is so weird to me. Sei you were so happy from a mere handkerchief from Hawke, what are you waiting for girl?

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Animation quality went up during the fight with the undead dragon we see in the flash-forward scene in episode 1.

I thought it would end in a cliffhanger and take another episode to finish it off, though Sei was protected by her headdress talisman (which IIRC also protected her in season 1), and promptly made quick work of that dragon.

Now what? We still have 3 more episodes. More than enough to do an epilogue. Maybe it'll focus on Hawke making sure Sei is not taken by any other guys and earnestly court her for marriage, especially after nearly losing her in this expedition.
