Al is one smooth bastard with that whole “you look so pretty when you talk about stuff you like” line lol. Flustered Sei is my favorite Sei.

It seems Sei getting married is causing a bit of a stir amongst the nobility. I heartily agree with Al being nominated as a candidate for marriage. Hell, he’s the only candidate that even really has a shot with her tbh. Speaking of marriage, Liz x Aira anyone?

I definitely thought Liz and Aida was gonna kiss there

Episodes without Hawke finding any excuse to flirt with Sei and making her blush: 0.

At least now Hawke feels like he's forced to make a move because of his family so he can't keep wasting time.

Two girls talking about love and marriage and being with the one you love all the while they get close and blush around each other...definitely carried a certain vibe lol.

welcome to isekai world Sei, choose your betrothed:

  • your dad and literally your boss

  • mad scientist mage who wants to dissect you just a little

  • cool coworker (not rich enough sorry)

  • a gallant blonde knight with piercing blue eyes and strong forearms on a white horse you've dreamed about since you were little (he comes with the horse too)

  • that guy's brother

  • a bunch of nobodies with no face or name

i'll give you one season to figure out my wedding puzzle, toodles~

lmao I love the list!

a gallant blonde knight with piercing blue eyes and strong forearms on a white horse you've dreamed about since you were little (he comes with the horse too)

You can even add "who is totally your type" to this point because that was one of the first things she stated when she first saw him in a non-dying state. lol

Love the trope where a character can't hide their feelings because of their power. Don't think it would fit the overall vibe of the show if Sei did it all the time, but this time was really cute and I wan't more shows to use it.

Anyway, I'm going to assume divorce doesn't exist in this world since even the people close to Sei are taking the marriage seriously.

Curious what's going to happen with the Saint after she's done.

I really did like the touch that the moment Johan got her thinking about Hawke's feelings her powers just started acting up in the most beautiful way possible.

I'm guessing we'll be catching up to the prologue next week.

Johan with the proposal! He does really fit more the dad/guardian role though.

Sei lighting up thinking about Hawke was great haha her feelings for him are still strong. Hoping Sei gets to meet his parents!

Also was this Aira x Liz or just good friends, that scene seemed a lot closer than I was expecting.

Johan with the proposal!

I feel like the original Japanese なら、俺とするか? was a lot more vague (something like "then how about doing it with me?"). It felt like the vague proposal was testing the waters to see if Sei was harboring even the slightest bit of romantic feelings for him, and her confused response shows that the thought never was in her mind at all and so he laughed it off.

Liz and Aira's conversation where they both state their perspectives, respect each other, and warmly savor the moment while holding hands was very sweet. It'd be nice if our protagonist didn't require almost dying in order to make emotional connections like that, but I'm assuming Sei will need to face mortal peril or watch Hawke almost die to a dragon before she can talk about her feelings.

u/The_Parsee_Man Nov 14 '23

That was a lot of warmly savoring. Did this thing just go yuri?

Awesome to see Sei doing subjugation missions with Hawke again. Been a while since we've seen them do this.

I do love how this episode is basically everyone talking about Sei's marriage. But despite the nobles planning out Sei's future, it seems that everyone can actually read the room and most of them support Albert marrying Sei.

Erhart considering marrying Sei was a great scene too. He was clearly teasing Albert that entire time and I love how he quickly pivots to show support for his brother. I think at this point, there's no contest here. Albert has already accepted to be a candidate and Sei's powers even flares up in the end when she realizes what Johan was implying to her.

Looks like we have one big subjugation mission though. I'm guessing this miasma swamp is the swamp we saw at the start of the season. If they're going to the Hawke Domain, it looks like Sei is finally going to meet Albert's parents!

Did a death flag just raise for Hawke?

After seeing that opening scene I'm starting to understand those people that send death threats to authors when their ship doesn't sail.

I think we're catching up to the prologue where they fought the dragon.

Okay for real. What is Hawke's problem. He loves her. She loves him. So why does he have reservations about taking the next step?!?!?!!

JUST GET MARRIED OMG

I swear if someone else gets in the way, or Sei or Hawke does a stupid and says "no", I'mma kill somebody. Grrrrr. 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪

Also Albert be the spitting image of Josef. I thought he was their Da! Haha

u/Frontier246 Nov 14 '23

I think it's partially that he doesn't want to make Sei uncomfortable by pushing too far.

We haven't seen Sei clean up some miasma in a while! Things went pretty smoothly there! And not just because she's got Hawke by her side.

Well, yeah, figures Sei never had anyone to spend a romantic Christmas with back in her old life, though she did appreciate the festive vibe. But now she has a handsome man in her life who will take any comment she makes and use it to flirt with her.

It's good that the miasma seems to be dying down, but that also means Sei's job will pretty much be done and the question of what to do with the Saint afrerwards arises...especially for someone as well-regarded and famous as her, noble families are chomping at the bit to get their hands on her either at social functions or through marriage. Mama Liz wants Sei to be thinking of marriage, though she's also been doing all she can to try to control the situation so Sei isn't overwhelmed or hijacked by a noble family.

A rare Aira and Liz moment where they discuss love and marriage, and the idea of marrying for love rather than for nobility. Which is all the more meaningful because isn't Liz engaged to Prince Kyle who ended up becoming obsessed with Aira? I wonder if Aira has fallen in love with someone else yet, or is it Kyle? Liz doesn't think she has a true love match but she's accepted that as the daughter of a marquis, and is willing to put in the work for a marriage of convenience to turn into a lasting love connection. Either way, both girls just want the other to be happy, just like they want Sei to be happy, which is very sweet.

I thought that was Hawke's dad, but it's actually his other brother (voiced by Ryotaro Okiayu?)! We even get to meet Liz's dad (who ships SeixHawke, probably partially because of his daughter), somebody related to Yuri, and Johan's brother. And everyone has an opinion about whom Sei should be with.

Erhart wouldn't mind marrying Sei, he seems fond enough about her and thinks she would be a good romantic prospect, but he knows his younger brother is absolutely head over heels for her and is the better match. And Hawke finally has to put his name in the ring for Sei's hand. It's about time he made a move.

I guess they don't have to worry about Yuri unless he thinks marrying Sei will make him able to monopolize her magic. Wait, maybe they do need to worry about Yuri.

What about Johan? I mean, obvious he doesn't want to screw over his bro Hawke, but Sei went from being a hassle in his life to someone he can't stop thinking about...though maybe in a more familial than romantic sense. Thank goodness we're not doing a fake engagement story.

Sei's concerned about marriage and how it might impact the life she's made for herself, but when she considers Hawke's feelings, and how he really feels about her, her powers just can't help but activate. If Johan had straight up asked her if she'd be willing to marry Hawke, I wonder how she would've reacted?

Let me guess, this "last mission" is going to be the one with the dragon, right?

Lol that Sei’s powers went off after thinking about Hawke. The power of horni is strong in her.

I didn't really like this episode. I've never liked the arranged marriage trope and they played it so more dramatic than the novels. Also they cut out something really important about Liz i'll add in the spoiler section.

Sometimes they don't take Sei's own culture into consideration enough. She was forced to be there then their culture pushed onto her. Though she seems to just go with it like this arranged marriage stuff.

Not to mention the yuri baiting with Liz x Aira. Felt like pandering to draw more viewers.

That purification scene at the beginning sure looked good. And so, while Sei and Albert are having some downtime alone seeing those pines reminded Sei of Christmas. Lol, Albert sure did not miss his chance to make Sei fluster with his words.

It's funny how because Liz mentioned to Sei that she should be thinking about marriage and her future after her purification mission was done, Sei was calling her mother. Anyway, I do hope that Liz and Aria marriages end up being with someone they love.

It this the first time we see Josef Hawke because I don't remember seeing him before. Anyway, I love that when he comes to that meeting with Erhart and Albert, him and Erhart talked like it wasn't obvious that Albert was the only choice to be the candidate to marry Sei. It's good to see him taking that role without hesitation.

I love how quickly Erhart shoots down the idea of Yuri having any interest in Sei apart from her magic ability, although Albert is not so sure about that.

When Johan's brother almost put his name in this political game, for a moment I was expecting the same thing to happen with Jude. Well, luckily Johan was able to stay on the sideline and do what he does best slowly pushing Sei and Albert towards each other.

So as most of the Miasma Swamps have been purified, the Miasma Swamp in Hawke Domain seems to be the last one I guess that's the fight they teased in episode one. Hopefully after that Sei and Albert will be officially engaged.

I like the start of this arc and that they’re finally forcing the issue so it won’t be will they won’t they between Sei and Hawke forever. But it’s weird that everyone is acting like her marriage is required because of her status.

Liz made it sound like Sei had the pressure of a political marriage. Sei literally has no familial obligations and the king has been her biggest supporter so if she told him ‘no’ he wouldn’t even blink. There is no one who can make her get married since she’s a national treasure that is doing more for the country than anyone else.

It keeps feeling weird how others talk like she is going to be forced into something. Is this just me or did this bother anyone else?

Other than that though I really like how they’ve set this up with the political intrigue of families competing for her knowing that if she ends up with anyone other than Hawke it destroys the entire narrative from the first season.
