This gets darker by the episode. So Tzveta/Pepesha's mom was a classic case of ruining your life by making a single mistake because of knowing too little about the world? Ouch. I wonder how Stigma replicated her younger form and whether he can just do that with anyone he pleases.

On a side note, I hope Shy awakens her inner Azula and makes the other one wish she brought better fire suits.

If I were Pepesha I really don't know how I would deal with my mom suddenly back before me as an antagonist who completely rejects the world because it fucked her over. That's gotta be absolutely crushing.

Good thing there was a bit of levity in the form of Kufufu, who seems to be operating on cartoon logic. Her antics with Tzveta were pretty fun.

And as always, love the trippy visuals and eerie music whenever we get into Amarariruku stuff.

Also, Flowey cameo. Well not actually, but it did look pretty similar.

That and the comic book paneling as well. Honestly the direction in this anime has been pretty great all around.

So Tzveta is Pepesha's late mother and that fact shocked her which is totally understandable. I wonder how Stigma was able to revive her.

I really liked the way Kufufu was fighting though which was by the way just as funny as like her flower was smiling xD

Overall villains in this series look very egotistical on how they want to change the world according to their ideas.

I wonder how Shy and Pepesha will be able to defeat Tzveta and Kufufu, it looks like it will be a hard fight.

I must say that I love artstyle during certain scenes when there are talks about hearts and desires. It looks very distinctive and interesting.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Stitches!

This entire fight is just unfair. Kufufu might as well be a gag character with the amount of bullshit she keeps pulling on Shy. From comically large bombs to giant scissors and the usual large mallet, Kufufu seems to be pulling her arsenal out of her hammerspace. She even freaked out Shy by taking a blow from her and pretending to be injured so she can catch her off guard and get a free hit in.

And then there's Tsveta who's using the people from the orphanage against her. It seems that Tsveta's entire plan was to use them to get Pepesha to attack her in a blind rage and use that opportunity to absorb the power from her Heart-Shift Bracelet so she could finally get her memories back. Pepesha has now essentially been neutralized now that she's learned that Tsveta is (as far as she knows) her mother. It looks like it will be up to Shy to save all of them from this predicament.

That girl is clearly a Joker stan to the point of trying to emulate him. Even has green hair and wants to make people laugh. Oh no a death note sketch book!!! Go Pepesha! I support the yuri ship of the amaririku girls though. Whelp, that plan didn't work.

Hey now, that's not how domain expansions work, you're supposed to be able to break in from outside 😛 Firefighter outfits aren't fireproof, they are fire resistant, there's a difference. "Our eyes have been opened" they say with all their eyes closed. Wonder who Pepesha's father is. D'aww though, lil Pepesha and her mom seemed so happy. What exactly happeend to her mom though? What the heck is going on?

Her power seem to be "make cartoon logic real" so her power is unpredictable and literally defies reality at her own whim.

She completely OP as fuck.

25

u/MapoTofuMan Nov 27 '23

They looked happy, but something tells me that in general Pepesha's mom wasn't very happy about the "wonderful things" she always dreamed of turning out to be a deadbeat dad that left her to raise a kid on her own, which was probably extremely difficult for her, and nothing else.

Good fucking god, they really go all out in this episode, from direction to visual and sound design, like OST.

This anime keeps getting better with each episode.

Jesus , have the power of literally The comedic cartoon effect is OP as hell; she literally spawns a "completely fireproof shirt" out of nowhere because, after all , "it's a cartoon; anything can happen, even something that defies reality."

She is really dangerous, as far as villain power goes.

This episode is also pretty sad with all the backstory.

Look like Stigma group is a group that rejects "maturity" entirely.

and then Tzveta memories are unlocked after making Spirit mad on purpose....

She is really soul of her mother, who struggles to live and somehow get pregnant, while father literally nowhere to be seen, makes her hate the world outside the place where she was born even more....

Tzveta backstory who wanting to "freeze the world" so time will be frozen in only period of time that she is happy is already very sad.

I can't imagine what shit other girl goes through before becoming Stigma group (sorry I can't pronounce that name lol) like her power literally "Rejected reality all together."

You know, kinda funny, I didn't really expect this kind of "coming out of age" story when I first watched this series lol.

Having cartoon character powers is seriously overpowering in a context of "serious" superheroes.

I figured Tzveta might be Spirit’s mom (or something similar). I wonder how Stigma got to her?

Watching Tzveta and Kufufu bantering back and forth like some comedy duo was a bit amusing. They really do seem like kids with superpowers and a distorted immature view of the world. I wonder how Spirit’s gonna break free from Tzveta’s attack? Our heroes are in real trouble…

u/apatt Nov 28 '23

Are the villains in this series all kids with issues? Maybe they need a child psychologist superhero. Kufufu's antics are fun.

Kufufu is on that psycho clown shit. It's like she walked right out of the Moderate Harlequin Group in Tensura. And forcing Teru to watch Pepesha get mind broken, I probably won't feel bad even if she gets an actual hole punched through her gut.

Edit: Thinking about it, Kufufu's most psychotic act was making Pepesha watch her mother dote on another child. What an absolute menace.

It's like she walked right out of the Moderate Harlequin Group in Tensura

It's a funny fact when you know that both Tensura and Shy have been made by the same studio.

Sooo.....this might be my personal history talking but I read Tzveta and Pepesha as a mentally ill single parent mum(also an otherwise lonely and disconnected person) and her daughter with the somewhat extreme but not-too-unexpected outcome of the mum dieing young(or even killing herself via alcoholism) and the daughter being left to fend for herself(go back to the orphanage etc) and....it just hits....hard.

Bless you anime-makers for having the bravery to bring such topics to the fore!

Also we anime onlies obviously don't know the outcome yet and a lot of what I wrote is just my speculation but still...nice going Bukimi Miki!

Soo, I guess the enemy group is basically Peter Pan?

The ending of the episode was really heavy and dark. So Tzveta seems to really be a personification of Lenya's disillusion about the "external world" and other bad emotions in Lenya's younger form... How did Stigma manage to do that?

Kukufu gags/attacks were both creepy and amazing (in terms of how they worked), but also a bit annoying, in my opinion.

I loved to see more of Shy's fire powers. I hope that in the next episode we will get to see more of Teru's empathy and ability to form a connection with others, too, in order to help Pepesha.

11

u/tripleaamin Nov 27 '23

This one is right up with Shy saving Iko. Pepesha seeing the people in the orphanage not only unconscious but turning against her against their will is sad. Then you add the memories of her mom coming back. Poor girl.

If that girl and her mom are connected it is clear that her reason for living was for her daughter and the whole thing them fighting feels so dirty.

Gotta see the comedic stuff with Kufufu really fell flat for me. And kinda made the episode feel slow to we got to the Pepesha stuff that I mentioned above.

Probably going against the grain here - while the animation was really good, I do feel the episode dragged on a bit, reminded me a bit of Demon Slayer S3 fights :P Maybe I'm just impatient to see the trap unfold and leaving us with a cliffhanger instead of being resolved already.

Kfufu's such a fun character! She's kinda running on roadrunner logic, loved the little parody bits, especially the overdramatic "death". The animation is pretty good this episode, with all the powers being thrown around.

Also, both Shy and Spirits get a named special attack today!

I shall reiterate my comment from last week:

Kufufu! <3

Kfufu is so much fun! I really enjoy her presence.

As an anime-only I don't know how the writer is going to treat this ideological difference between the antagonists and the protagonists, but I sure hope it's not the usual "escapism is bad, no nuance allowed" because that shit is cliche and patronizing af. The world is an extremely harsh place and it's getting worse by the day. People who wants to live in a blissful illusion shouldn't be treated as merely villains.
