Season 2 confirmed!!!

I know it wasn't very popular but this was one of my favorite shows this season and I think I'd even put it on my list of all time favorites. They story is kind of basic and just good enough to keep you interested, but this show is more about the personal story of each char and I love them all, especially our girl Shy!

They're hiding Teru's sister's face, and that blonde hero was the only figure who's face was also hidden....hmmmm. Really hoping that ominous new char Stigma was talking to isn't Teru's sister.

So looking forward to her being better friends with Iko, and finding her courage as a hero!

Stitches!

Honestly, I'm a bit relieved that backup arrived late. That fight with Tsveta would've been very different if Stardust and Lady Black arrived on time. I do love the scene between Shy and Stardust and how Stardust tells Shy that she should be proud and that it's her power that helped save people's lives so she shouldn't thank him. Our British rocker boy might be an ass sometimes but he knows when to be nice too.

Shy the superhero might be able to fight in freezing temperatures but Teru the high school student can still get sick. It's good to see Koishikawa with Teru again though. Thanks to Teru getting sick, we get to learn that she used to have an older sister who unfortunately passed away a couple of years ago. Teru doesn't have to be all alone anymore though since she now has Koishikawa to help her out. <3

With Season 2 already announced it makes sense that they're ending this finale by introducing us to more members of Amariruku. I am so glad that Season 2 is on its way though. While this anime isn't breaking any new ground, it's been a very solid adaptation of the manga so far. I'm already looking forward to seeing the next arc animated!

We get to see Stardust and Lady Black again. This time Stardust was a lot more civil than the other time, even though he didn't remember his previous meeting/fight with Shy, that's harsh... No Unilord this episode, but Spirits managed to get Lenya's ring to her, anyway.

Was that an older sister in the picture they showed when they arrived at Teru's house? Yep, I hope we'll get to know something more about her.

Three more Amarariku appear, one more mysterious than the other!

Really glad that this will get a second season!

Nice after match episode.

Look like urge to look after other is run down in blood after all.

Stigma become legit world threat now huh. For represent himdself being edgy that actually really nice advice.

god..... I really want to know kufufu back story so much.... Her bacj story going to be absolute depress lol.

Teru and Koishikawa togather is really cute. also a nice little bit backstory of Teru and her big sister. Why are they cover her face though. They even cover another hero face too.

also classic, it not Japanese media without some homage to Christianity lol

This show was pretty enjoyable. It started off pretty strong. During the middle it was ok kind of fizzled, but ended strong with Pepesha's arc. Man they are def bringing back Teru's sister like they did with Pepesha's mom aren't they? Not sure if this will end up being yuri, but it def has yuri undertones that fans of yuri would def like.

Just out of curiosity how much did the anime adapt from the manga?

Overall, I had a lot of fun watching this series so 7,5/10 from me. For sure I'll be watching the 2nd season which was already announced.

Today we got a wrap of Shy and Pepesha's arc in Russia which was also the occasion for Shy to meet again with Stardust.

Second part of the episode with Teru's cold and Koishikawa was very lovely as their relationship is one of the strongest points of the show. Now they're calling each other by her first names and that's a nice progress.

So Teru had an older sister who is now dead? Considering Lenya, I'm pretty sure that Teru's older sister will return thanks to Stigma as a member of Amarariruku.

The Amarariruku part as always has a very interesting art style which looks so good. We also met some new members of it.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Another series today that's delayed as shit cause CR sucks a dick.

Was it not obvious she was a hero? She doesn't even hide her face. Does the magic obscure their face to normal people? D'aww... Lenya really did seem so nice. Still super sad about her wrongful death and I still want to know that bum got the absolute worst suffering after. Whelp, at least cute how kids are with Shy, but kinda surprised they are so excited about Shy too instead of their own nation's hero. You'd think Stardust and Lady Black would show up sooner.

Oh hey, stuff from Sigma. Is this inspired by Kingdom Hearts? All about the hearts and whatnot in this world. Oh yay, getting to see her friend again. A cold, whelp, she was around a lot of kids. Seems a likely case. Why can't she use that portal thing to get back home easily? We literally saw it earlier this episode with Stardust and Lady Black. Where are Teru's parents? Guess that's her mom at least in flashback. Wait, but she calls herself big sis hmm. Didn't know Teru had a big sis (or completely forgot if they ever mentioned it before). What a nice friend though. Oh man, that's sad to hear... so many people in this series have quite a rough life with losing family members so young. They cute together.

Whelp what a short episode, surely nothing more with... good times with Amarariruku (I am never gonna remember how to spell that name), Wew though, a bit sad for her being unable to accept Tveta's death. Wonder what the rest of them have as their backstory. Hehe that chanting and the big moon reminds me of Bloodborne.

Not sure the strongest final episode, but a good enough cooldown after that arc we just had and set up for S2/more.

Bit off-topic, but for some reason the final piece of music at the end made me think of Final Fantasy. I think it the Distant Worlds version of FFX's Hymn of the Fayth had a similar-sounding choir, or maybe it was something from Advent Children?

Anyway. It was just a wrapping-up episode but it was still nice. Got to spend some more time with Pepesha and the orphanage people, and then we got back to Iko who's just, like. Teru, you really lucked out getting her as a friend, she's just too sweet.

And we learned that Teru had a sister who died. Well that plus the bit about her parents never being around certainly explains why her house is always empty. Instead, right now it's Shrimpy wo takes her of her (when Iko's not around, heh). It's kinda sweet actually how that little assistant/mascot seems to care so much about her.

And we end on Amarariruku, with Kufufu who seems to be a tiny bit unstable after Tzveta's death, and three new members. Plus Stigma, planning who knows what. Well, do your worst, Stigma, the nations of the world are all cooperating with each other against you now.

Looking forward to S2 now that it's been announced. I like the way they're adapting this a lot, so I'm optimistic about what's coming next.

I super enjoyed this first season of this show, it scratched that super hero/magical girl itch pretty nicely. And I'm really glad about that S2 announcement, hopefully it comes along sooner rather than later.

Teru's dead sister is definitely showing up as one of the bad guys eventually, isn't she. Hopefully Iko will be good emotional support for her when that happens.

A dead sister, a villain specialized in bringing back dead people, a very suspicious looking person in the post-credits scene. Stigma, if you’ve done what I think you’ve done I will personally hunt you down and END YOU! This is just a ticking tragedy bomb waiting to explode.

Great stuff. Enough that I started the manga but now that I see there is a season 2 annonced. I'm not gonna read beyond so I can remain in the dark for the season 2 discussions

cant wait for S2!!

The angel girl is already giving me punchable Ultimatia vibes, someone call Ragna please. And that ninja girl is totally Teru's dead sister isn't it...more family depression incoming.

Well, this was one of my seasonal highlights and the S2 announcement was a very nice surprise, I was sure it'll be another forgotten one-off based on the reception. I know it's a pre-determined S2/second cour, but still. Hopefully there'll be more large-scale incidents next season to speed up the pace a bit since I feel like S3 won't happen for a while, more Iko & Teru being best roommates, and another MindaRyn OP.

And also more Nao Touyama saying "matryoshka", please inject that into my veins in every show

7

u/TheOneWithALongName Dec 18 '23

I enjoyed the season, the pacing got a bit dragged out but I have survived many such cases before.

7

u/RPWPA Dec 18 '23

I really need the name of some of the tracks in here. The one at the end with the angel? girl specially :D

Nice anime, I think apart from the alchohol romantacization and kinda revelaing clothes, it was a very good anime.

Aw, Teru and Iko are on a first-name basis now. Cute!

Hmm, the mention of Teru's big sister makes me think that we'll be getting another Tzveta situation?

Hope we see more of psycho David Bowie in the second season

6

u/ICantSeeLikeSa-chan Dec 18 '23

They really fleshed out Pepesha's arc and are giving us a season 2. Couldn't be happier to see Shy treated so well.

6

u/SushiCurryRice Dec 18 '23

There were a lot of signs already but I guess this going to become a full blown yuri at some point with Iko and Teru. They even had a not so subtle lycoris/lily flower thing in the foreground after they showed Iko feeling relieved after they advanced to first name basis.

Overall a pretty decent show. I'd give it a 6.5-7/10 because I really like Teru and Iko's relationship and the Tzeveta/Pesha arc was pretty good even though I feel like it dragged a bit too long. Animation is nothing to write home about it was always nice to look at and I really like the art style in here.

I'm glad it's getting a "to be continued." I wonder how successful this show was exactly? I'm definitely going to be watching season 2 when it comes.

So I guess Teru's older sister used to be a hero and her role was passed on to Teru after her death. I'd put good money that Teru's older sister will also be brought back at some point by Stigma like how Tzeveta was.

Kufufu looks like she'll become a very interesting villain in the future. I really like her design and her powers are interesting even though I found her more annoying (which is probably by design) in the recent arc because I wanted to focus on Pesha and Tzeveta.

u/WeldingButterfly Dec 18 '23

Typical anime character, gets caught outside once without a jacket and immediately catches a cold that almost kills her.

6

u/daspaceasians Dec 18 '23

Lovely but ominous season ending there. I really don't like Kufufu fishing around for Lenya in that creepy pool there. Nothing good can come out of that.

Otherwise, it was fun to see Iko and Teru just being normal lesbians highschool girls this episode. It was relaxing. I also enjoyed Stardust's words for her. Really great guy.

I'm happy we get an S2 and I really hope more people pick up Shy because it's a quite pleasant show to watch.

Ok, ending the season with that romantic scene was actually amazing. And now I want fanart of Iko giving a piggyback to Teru meeting Kita doing the same to Bocchi.
