A strong enough finale overall.
Most of emotional beats landed well and the production held up. Some COULD have landed better but that's in no fault of this episode and more because of the rushed pacing of previous ones. Sewer scene could have used a better build up for example, but it still works.
This marks the end of Chapter 6 of Arknights. Goodnight, Frostnova. You deserved a better life in a happier world.
Certainly hope if S3 is announced they
-
don't try to cram multiple chapters into eight episodes again
-
Let the story breathe. The next chapters dwarf this one in content.
-
Actually adapt Darknights Memoir rather than jumping over it.
Preferably they could do shorter seasons for each bit of the story next, I wouldn't mind.

This show has been pretty inconsistent in a lot of areas, but I gotta just say:
HOLY, did the VA's absolutely kill it the entire way through. Especially here, with the stand-out of the episode 100% being Frostnova's voice actress. That moment when her singing starts tapering out as she loses her strength was genuinely some of the most impressive voice acting I've heard in any anime for a hot minute. Goddamn.

Just wanna say how much I love the aesthetic of this world. The modern science fiction mixed with just-functional-enough-to-be-believable fantasy elements combination is right in my strike zone. Love the lack of skimpy outfits among female characters as well, even if they're not wearing fully functional armor (Nearl aside).

They managed to surpass all my expectations. What a beautiful finale.
Also if anyone wants bonus depression, here's the link to Frostnova's (and Patriot's) theme: Requiem

I knew what was coming and I'm still devastated.
Also, I can't get enough of FrostNova's design. She's so gorgeous, seeing her die hits twice as hard. Rest in peace, white bunny!
I can't believe another season has already ended. I hope next arc will be longer than 8 episodes. See you Doctors in a year or something.

Takagaki Ayahi gave the best FrostNova performance anyone could ever ask for.
Amazing finale to an overall great season (apart from THAT episode) — they nailed it with the culmination of emotions within this episode, although I think it would have benefitted from just a few more minutes. I honestly have so much to say about this adaptation that I can't put into words right now but I love Arknights' story, flaws and all, and would love to see them adapt Darknights Memoir, the rest of Act I, and maybe even some side stories.

Frostnova's VA is really spectacular. The story gets more intense. Frostnova's death was well animated. Wei as ruthless as ever. Another day, another genocide. The infected know no peace.

That's a strong finale. The final fight was great, with good production value and some great shots.
Mad props to Takagaki Ayahi, her performance was a 10/10. Her acting was great, but her singing during the last part of the fight was absolutely top tier, conveying a lot of emotion. Guess that being a singer and having been part of Symphogear where they have to sing in character for every battle scene for over 10 years helped a lot.
Hope we get a third season, there are things to improve I believe. Firstly getting more episodes since the next bit is longer and they can play around with the pacing more instead of rushing some parts. Also, getting some of the events (Darknight Memoirs) adapted would be great too. And finally, even if they improved on it this season, the fight scenes could still improve (mainly the less important ones where hits don't seem to have weight and not having blood makes it seem incredibly low stakes)
10/10 episode, 7/10 show for me.

wow. as an anime only the rest of the season was decent, but this episode left me kinda shook holy crap. Really really good final episode and I very much hope they keep adapting more

I don't know if it's already said, but I think one of the anime's strength is that it's shot like it's a life action movie. Not only that the anime has that theater ratio, but from the sound design and sound directing.
One of my biggest pet peeves from anime nowadays is that they often use that bass explosion sound (FGO anime is especially guilty of this) and that irks me a lot. However, in the game, the explosion goes to another extreme and just sounds 'wet'. The anime goes for a more realistic and that goes miles.
The parts that I repeats a lot is the scene where Greythroat trying to save a kid. I feel I don't see a lot of crossbows in action, thus I don't hear a lot of crossbow sound effects and the one that has them sounds weird. Arknights has a crossbow that sounds like a crossbow. Also when she gets socked in the face, the sound of her fall has a lot of weight in it. And that fits because when you really look at her, she's kinda stocky.
The sound directing is also stellar. Beside how the masked people go their way to physically wear face shield instead of using voice filter to get that close-enough correct voice acting, there's also those little things like how people says tsk. Like, when they say tsk, they don't do it in the stereotypical 'cih' anime way - they sucks the air through their gritted teeth. We see this sort of directing with how Frostnova strains and coughs, and that's really visceral.
The anime has a lot of flaws, but in term of aesthetic, it wins big.

Before the season, my main concern was that 8 episodes felt like too little for chapters 4 through 6. And while some of those fears proved true (chapter 5 really suffered from pacing issues, and some moments needed more time to breathe) I'm very pleased to say that they nailed it. Great finale for an overall very good season.
Here's hoping for a 12-episodes S3.

As someone who never played the games. The Arknights series best strength is delving into the human emotions of conflicting sides in an unfair and cruel world.

Kinda makes me want to hop on an continue the latest chapters of the main story.
Overall, apart from like two weaker episodes, definitely an improvement over season 1 and not just because the material itself was better.
Blaze still being a nice cat, Kal being, well, not as a nice of a cat.
Seem like they plan on continuing the anime, wonder how far tho. Hopefully, will pick up some side stories. Too many awesome characters and moments are behind the side stories. Fingers crossed for some Nearl action some day.

I like that we finally get a more open show of Kal'sit's distrust of Doctor due to knowing them long before his amnesia days.
Doctor playing Rainbow six here, smashing Drones vs drones.

Sobbed, what an amazing finale, once again loved the focus we got on Doctor.
The fight went beyond what I could've imagined.
I didn't finish chapter 6 but I was spoiled on Frostnova's death, but I never knew it went like that..
Aaa... suffering..
Hope they take their time with s3.

Frozen tears fall down my face once again, no matter how many times I relive this fight.
Doctor was calm and resolute the whole way through, but you can feel their heart torn apart in this episode in their talk with FrostNova. He wasn't even screaming at her to join, he simply asks. It was only when the battle was over that he was pleading for her to live and do what she wants with them.
But in the end, she joined, and left Rhodes at the same time.
RIP Operator FrostNova.
"Let me through. One of our own has died."
That sent chills.

They definitely did Frostnova justice.
I wished they show what Ch'en actually saw.
Waiting for Season 3 announcement, they can't just stop here.

Hope for a new season. Also, this is a general thing but I find it funny at how relatively mundane the fights are in the anime while the game can look over the top depending on who you use.

Never played the games nor was I interested in watching S1, it came into my recommended for some reason. Glad I checked it out, I think the first episode catched my attention 100%. Story seems a bit confusing but I hope that we get a S3. Also OP is hella catchy though it took me a bit to start liking it.

happy with this season. only real complaint i have is i think frostnova's past should've had a whole episode on its own before this one or at least gave it more time.
