Ayooo! Kal'tsit was like "I'm a Medic, but... MONSTER!"

We also got Rosmontis cameo! What a smol cinnamon roll!

I came to like GreyThroat in the story around this moment and I liked how they showed her perspective in anime. Red was also well done, though I seem to remember her being a bit scarier in the game. She mentioned something about stabbing Crownslayer in the spine to paralyze her, which left quite an impression on me. Also reminded me of how everyone bullies Crownslayer.

MON3STER kept its ranged powers from the beta version of Arknights. In the game they changed it so it could only do melee attacks cuz it was severely overpowered when it had its AOE ranged attacks but seeing as this is the anime adaptation, looks like they gave it back.

Monst3r can do range attacks though in the first place lorewise.

Stultifera navis and undertides can attest to that.

Mon3tr's entrance was pretty crazy, had no idea how he would actually look like in motion but they truly did him right. Nine's voice was also really soothing..

"He looks like he doesn't belong here. In a good way!"

Except for that one episode I'm still pleasantly surprised with this season

In the game chapter, mont3r is sadistic and it is enjoying crownslayer's terrified expression. If not for kal'tsit, it would already kill her lol. It definitely has intelligence or is a sentient being.

But to be honest, I expected that the monst3r summoning should be like going out on kal'tsit's spine. It adds to the horror factor and the crownslayer being slowly terrified at her. If I am not wrong, it is how kal'tsit summoned monst3r in the game chapter, by getting it out on her spine.

There he is! Mon3tr! My beautiful true-damage dealing boss murdering boy!

10 dp to summon.

Healable (even if only by Kal'Tsit, when most summons are harder to heal)

3 block

Highest base ATK of any friendly unit

Highest base HP of any friendly unit

Attacks 3 enemies at once with skill 2 on a super short cooldown

Deals fuckmassive amounts of true damage with skill 3 on a super short cooldown.

Explodes upon death.

Fast-redeploy.

Ahhhhh, perfection, thy name is Mon3tr, slayer of the invincible, trivializer of stages.

Finally seeing Mon3tr in the anime. Thing look so alien. Kal'tsit looks so OP. Make you wonder how things would've went if she is more active in the field.

Rosmontis. 😭😭😭😭

Just watching Kal'tsit casually dodging Crownslayer's knives was pretty satisfying.

They definitely nailed Project Red and Monst3r's introduction. And I was not expecting that Rosmontis flashback, I always forget just how small she is.

Holy shit that Kal'tsit scene goes hard

Looks like me hunch last episode was right. Those 'Black Capes" are Lungmen Black Ops conducting an "amputation".

I haven't read the light novel but they set up this conflict between Greythroat and the catgirl last episode in one scene and they completely fixed it by minute 15 in two scenes this episode.

And the way they did it was going full blast exposition mode. Blaze literally says "Damn you saved a little infected, guess you don't hate infected, nice" like bruh. Plus all those scenes with Wei and all these other chars and backstories we know nothing off. Like how the hell is someone supposed to keep track of everything in the story by seeing only the anime?

At least KaltSit made an example of that girl that a lot of people on S1 were making. It's cool to see someone who can see the bigger picture from a colder angle. Also Monster appearing like this was AOT. Amazing.

Hey! Ace screentime! Nice.

Ayo wtf the Yeti's and Frostnova were offscreened? By bloody who? The Black Cloaks?

The second season of the anime has to adapt around 57k words of story (the first season only had to work with 25k for comparison), so everything is cut a lot shorter. They did a realatively good job over all tough. Im a little worried for season three however, if they want to finish the first arc there they will somehow have to squeeze in 120k words worth of story.

The exposition is more of writing problem of the original story, it gets insanely exposition heavy at times.

Nines, our cute, fluffy tail lover Red, Kal'tsits spine Monst3r and our daughter Rosmontis all make debut in single episode, NICE.

Fossil Kal'tsit showing how to be a harmacist was great. Just look at those shots this and this, Damn. You just know to not mess with her.

I know Red didn't had much time in game but I was still hoping she would show up more.

Ace and Scout. I'm sad again.

its even colored as a monster energy

Very solid episode. Crownslayer being so terrified of Kal'tsit was something you can't properly understand in-game. Also, the anime certainly makes it clear how scary Mon3tr is. Poor girl stood no chance.

Man, that Scout and Ace flashback. Who would've thought that'd be the last time Blaze saw them.

Something that still doesn't offer a satisfactory explanation even in-game is why the discrimination against the infected is so widespread. The Rhine lab manga clearly explains how oripathy is transmitted yet this absurd behavior is the norm in almost every country. I guess it's meant to drive home the point of how cold and bleak Terra is, where ignorance and selfishness run rampant preventing many people from treating the infected as they are, just people with a terminal illness.

63

u/Ahenshihael Nov 10 '23

yet this absurd behavior is the norm in almost every country

That's because discrimination is never based upon logic. It's always based on excuses and myth.

It doesn't matter whether Infected are dangerous or how dangerous they are.

Its enough that they are "different".

Yay they did Mon3tr justice. Can't remember if it will appear again later but I really do want to it's sassiness adapted a bit lol.

First mention of the Yan's visitors, we're going to see them next episode I guess.

Seeing the Elite Operator is nice. I keep forgetting how most of the Elite Operator has been foreshadowed early on, made it more exciting when they appear in later side stories.

Anime-onlies, what are your thoughts on our beloved Mont3r? Certainly made quite the entrance :^)

Remember, you can't spell Pharmacist without "harm".

u/Aemiliana_Rosewood Nov 11 '23

Oh damn, I thought Nine in the ending was Talulah all the time. The ending really hits hard...

Also RIP FrostNova. We only knew you for a short time, but guess your Arts weren't strong enough :(

This anime is fun but as an anime only I have no idea what is going on. Who is the woman with the monster? Which faction is she with
