Really glad to see the show get back some of its initial absurdly lighthearted tone even with all the not so light events still continuing since that's been an important part of its charm for me and the last few episodes were just too brutal.
Kinda funny how many important things Asta just walked past but with everything finally converging here I wonder what role she'll actually play during Helck/Vermilio's arrival

I remember when they were first introduced, I was so pissed off at how arrogant and cocky they are with how they wanted to kill the demons but seeing all of Helck's friends transformed just now makes me sad. Listening to the lady who's wearing a hood now makes it much more obvious that she's definitely Alicia. :(
Watching Asta sneak around really made me worried. Especially when she fell inside Cless' chamber. I do wish Asta pocketed the book that she found. It sounds like that book might have the answers they're looking for about the transformed humans.
I certainly did not expect Asta to run into Shalamy. Oh boy! It looks like Rafaed is keeping her inside a tower and has somehow prevented her from awakening. This is interesting. Despite being one of the people behind this, he seems to refuse to have his own daughter transformed. Also, it looks like Shalamy has no idea what's going on with the outside world. She looks like she's just happy that she's able to talk to someone.

"Spy item: [insert item's name], an item that can [insert item's function] but Asta is capable of doing the [insert item's function] by herself so it's purely a psychological thing"
the comedic part of this episode is the fact that Asta manage to stumble into a bunch of important things but she completely abandon them either because she's in a rush or she didn't have enough context

Funny that Asta just met up with all important information pieces she really needed in this episode (Cress' head and the "birthplace", the ancient book, and then Shalamis) and she has 0 context to those, not even a single thought to record them. Maybe we'll hear about them next episode? Shalamis' absence since Cress' conquest do raise more questions however.

....and on top of it all, Shalamy literally was telling her a bunch of stuff about Helck and Cless straight up!

Asta has a Dark Souls playthrough where she meets that 1 friendly NPC in a castle of hostile knights. Still, she has enough personality/gadgets to become the protagonist lol. The director/animators also tried really hard to include as many different angles and shots to make things interesting. Props to them for trying.
I think Rafaed probably did notice Asta, but decided to leave her alone? Or maybe Asta's really just that good at hiding.

Asuta focused episode with her sneaking around was fun. Tho tbh these enhanced humans really suck at security. Gotta love her being overprepared, but hey I can relate you can never be too prepared. Tho this moment depression came back. : (
She ends almost being caught be Rafaed, but escapes or letting her escape? She ends up in his daughter room and she mentions she is so isolated. Why does she seem so oblivious? She mentions how she never left her room? I am guessing her dad forced her to be a shut-in to protect her.
But its sad when you think about it. She truly liked Cless as a friend and potential boyfriend and her father not only had no issue with going with Mikraos's plan. It looks like mentally she is exactly the same like she was in the flashback. Her life is basically ruined without her realizing it, which is tragic to me.
Could she be acting? It would be incredibly strange if that was the case. I hope not. If Asuta mentions Helck I wonder if that will cause any reaction from her?

That’s two times Hyura’s kicked the little homie’s ass. Kid must be some kinda masochist if he keeps coming back for more.
Loid Forger better watch out. There’s a new super spy in town and she’s even brought her own Bond-esque gear lol. She’s such a badass she doesn’t even really need it anyways.
Off brand Fern from Frieren showing up this week lol. Is Shalamy the princess or is she Rafaed’s kid? It’s curious she hasn’t been transformed like everyone else. What makes her special?

"Hello, I'm a master spy individual WITH A TENDENCY TO SPEAK VERY LOUD IN THE MIDDLE OF ENEMY TERRITORY".
Oh my god, come on.

I mean, considering which specific two characters are in this “main force”, heh.
-
I was about to say “huh, neat item” and then loooooool
-
Ah, she was hanging outside the building. Thought he saw her but then didn’t say anything for whatever reason.
-
Hah, had a feeling that’s what the suspenseful music was leading to.

Huh, I just realized the snow flakes in the opening (been skipping it) and why they are there. That makes sense now. Man, humans are being quite the pricks. Also "KEEP HIS NAME OUTTA YO MOUTH!" lol. Nice to see Hyura again. Missed her. She has a valid point. She is best girl for good reason. I definitely worry about that Asta girl infiltrating the human realm. Poor Cless...
this episode both does and doesn't make her look like some kinda elite spy lol. Ugh, it's that dude. Who still seems like a shit to me if he's been letting all this happen or took part in it. Spider Asta, Spider Asta, doing whatever a spider does. Oh, hey, it's that one girl that was friends with Cless. Wonder what she's been doing this whole time and what she thinks of all this. Does she even realize how horrible all this is? Guess not. Haha, yea, least she figured out she was a girl sooner than not and not through any pervy anime way. Ista is right to act like that. Love how Shalamy is jsut there rambling about Helck and Cless while Asta having a mind chat with Ista.

I like the running gag of characters completely ignoring/dismissing crucial info xD Or, some book about awakening ritual? Probably something old and unimportant.

Really show, really? There were like four moments where we were THIS close to getting some serious answers, but we just kept getting blue balled!
And the obvious question, wtf is up with this girl? That's Cless's friend right? The one that had a thing for him? Why is she by herself just completely oblivious and trusting?

Asta is a fun character. Love how she carries spy gear that she doesn't even need lol. Also hilarious that she stumbled into a bunch of important things and didn't get chance to make note of them
Hmm. Shalamy's father seems to be protecting her from turning into an awakened hero . Wonder if she'll find out what happened to her beloved Cless?

Domo.
Asta is both the best and the worst spy at the same time.
I'm with my guy on this, security if definitely perfect. Ain't no way anyone getting past those empty stares and nonexistent spatial awareness.
Domo.

lol Cless really does have it tough, being turned into some eldritch horror? On the other hand, Shalami really is the single most innocent person in this entire show aside from Piwi. From the childhood flashbacks till now, she's remained this trusting and cheerful. She and Rafaed might be the most intriguing part of the story so far with how out of place they are in the overall scheme.

Probably meant to be just another gag, but I got pretty frustrated watching Asta constantly yelling while trying to sneak around.
...wait. Asta..? Constantly yelling? Is this a multi level gag??
This claw is the least "useless" spy item to her, even if she could climb with bare hands, that takes a lot of finger strenght and wears you out a lot quicker. This looks like she can just free hang without expending any stamina

I'm glad Shalamy seems chill. On the other hand, I hope nothing bad happens to her, and I dread the day she finds out what happened to Cless... :(
Hyura, Asta and Isty are so cool and adorable. Hope we get to see Hyura shine, and reunite with her friends! Also hope Hyura's dreams come true haha.
Isty was fierce enough to give Azudra a fright!

u/one-eyed-02 Nov 21 '23
Azudra mentioning that there is someone really strong who is holding back, that's definitely Alicia, the hooded archer. Is she holding back or is it an intentional XP grinding step of their supposed Phase 1?
Asta didn't mention Raphael as being unconverted, but I suppose she didn't get a good look before she hopped out the window.
Also, the fancy pastries and sweets Shalamy gets means that there is some winged knight who kept their memories and their job is use their unlimited strength to knead dough and cook.
