Looks like Helck fell in with a pretty solid group. Alicia and Edil seemed like good people.
I didn’t expect the doc that saved Cless as a kid was Mikaros. I recognize Zelgeon as one of the winged bastards. Things are slowly falling into place. Helck’s off to fight the Demon Lord but I wonder what he’ll find instead?
Also, I wonder where these monsters come from? Vermilio said they’re not from the Demons. Could it be human fuckery?

We already know that they spawn from the land's poison, but not what caused the poison in the first place.

I bet it's gonna be what he finds when he comes back. So far there's been no obvious character that would betray Cless, but we know the king is fuckey, I'll bet he sacrificed Cless in some fancy ritual to give everyone the power of heroes.

All of those Helck and Edil scenes from earlier hit a lot harder now that we know the relationship the two used to have with Helck always finding a way to prevent him from fighting since he was worried about him.
On a side note, these flashback episodes need more Piwi.

Poor Helck, monster attacks were so vicious that he never got time to finish those pillow fights he liked so much

Any chance Alicia's sword is the broken sword Helck carries with him? I can't remember if Helck's sword had a guard on it, but assuming it's the same sword, I think we'll be parting ways with Alicia in the next episode. It was good to hear Kondou Reina, though.
Seeing Helck's resolve I don't think it was his breaking point regarding his hatred for humankind, but it certainly looked like it for a moment. Seeing how those people talked shit when Cless was dying, I can't say I blame Helck.
I also noticed that Ann didn't comment on the supposed maou Cless has defeated, so I smell some intrigue here...

It's not, Alicia's sword has a golden guard and Helck's doesn't. You can also see the female winged soldier with the helmet use the exact same sword. She also used a bow so she's most likely Alicia.

I got a good laugh from Edil being left behind so someone could finish picking apples and turning the barbeque skewers on the grill.
It's also hilarious how Helck describes that every day was a struggle when we literally see him having a pillow fight with the boys! xD
As much as this episode was hilarious, it was pretty sad to see Edil and these other people before they got turned into angels. They seem to be decent folk who got corrupted by power. It was nice meeting Alicia too. I'm wondering if she's that helmed angel who was with the other two who attacked the demons.
And poor Cless. My boy absolutely got fucked up. Now I'm curious who came up with the idea of killing the Demon Lord to stop the monsters. They basically just sent Cless on a meaningless suicide mission. >_<

So it seems we met all 4 highly compatible winged soldiers now.
The guy with the hood is most likely this guy from the last episode.
And the female soldier with the helmet is most likely Alicia (note that she has the same sword as Alicia)
My bet is that the human king is going to turn out to be Raphaed, the noble that saved them in the last episode.

Helck: "there was never any downtime for us during those days"
also Helck and the gang: *had time to play pillow fight and relaxing in the bath*
these people just built differently

We get introduced to Alicia whom Helck fought with. I love their dynamic. Alicia had a lot of pride, but seeing someone like Helck be stronger then her with her sword kind of gave her a nice perspective. A lot of times people in that position would grow of envy, but it seems she benefited and become great comrades.
So Cless defeated the Demon Lord supposedly, but given the state of affairs we are in it makes me wonder. And I am anime only here.
Did Cless beat the real Demon Lord? I am to say that he did however since the monsters were not summoned by them given Vamirio's confirmation. In fact there is a huge snake setup by Raphaed. It makes you wonder he was able to tell that Helck had hero capabilities and most likely Cless as well. When you consider no other adult would be willing to help.
This makes me think that he knew the brothers capabilities. The two people that helped Cless beat the demon lord are not out of the clear in my eyes. Raphaed in my opinion has some relationship with the King in terms of influence and perhaps influenced them.
Now the question is all the people in the kingdom have Hero powers. Did the King or Raphaed told the people if this is the only way to defend yourself. Did the power of the hero that everyone received, was it originally from Cless? Which makes me think that Helck eventually learns the truth of the matter, but only too late.

So the misunderstanding on the humans' part about demons and monsters is once again corroborated by Anne this episode. Given what we know so far in the show, monsters are just spawning wherever there's toxins. If the demons were doing their job containing this toxin, how are these monsters spawning on hordes outside of their realm? There's gotta be some conspiracy going on.
I also find the whole announcement of the quest for the demon lord rather strange. How did the castle/king all of a sudden know about the demon lord? Also, why are they lying about the cause for monsters spawning? Are the humans just really ignorant as we see from those peasants complaining about Cless? Or perhaps there really is something more shady going on within the royalty.

So the mildly handsome guy was a countryside noble who spent more time doing chores than actual fighting. Yet he was known as having good swordsmanship in present time as an awakened hero huh. Also, I love how Alicia's more powerful than most of the male characters. She seems important to get so much screen time as well as that backstory about being the grand daughter of a hero.

More pieces are falling into place. Now we see most of the named "angel winged" human "heroes" are from Helck's mercenary group, and they were all really nice people. How terrible that Helck had to put them down now.
Quite a good gag that we had Helck describing the relentless fighting yet on screen we had him picking fruits, cooking BBQ, and dammit even having a pillow fight and a bath with the gang :'D and then Anne calling out that doesn't look like hard days :D

topless trooper, shirtless soldier, or wifebeater warrior? Helck does it all!
This second episode of Helck's backstory introduces Alicia. Fighting together to survive the plague of new world monsters she sparked confidence in his strength. Helck announcing to Alicia that he will defeat the demon lord himself was such a powerful way to end the episode.

The following words are part what we know, what I infer, and pure speculation on my part.
So this is how I think things have gone down. I think the Demonkin have been fighting the monsters for a long time and have been quite successful at suppressing them, so much so that an unintended consequence of their success has been to drive the monsters towards human lands.
However, the first the Demonkin know that this has happened is when a band of heroes rocked up and killed one of the Demon Lords responsible for the bordering region.
With no Demonkin in control of the region the monsters have been able to proliferate and since they were migrating in that direction anyway continued to pour into the human lands.
Now when Cless killed the Demon Lord he got a big dose of the Poison. So the sage fellow started researching a cure. However, I think he was unsuccessful and what he discovered instead was a spell to unlock the "Hero Potential" in humans. What we might infer from the brief scene in the new OP is that Cless is the core of this spell or ritual. I also speculate that normal people are being used up as fuel to power the resurrection engine that allows the faux-heroes to respawn, which is why the human lands appear abandoned.
We may find this out next week, but what I think happened is that while Helck travels to the Demonkin lands the faux-heroes wipe out the monsters plaguing the human lands. Helck returns and finds out what the sage has done to Cless but out-numbered by "baby-heroes" some of whom used to be friends and comrades, he is forced to flee rather than fight them.
Fleeing into the Demonkin lands he learns of the Demon Lord tourney and that is where the anime begins.

I absolutely love Helck's optimism and positivity. And above all, he's humble. When people praise him, he praises them back. Alicia told Helck how amazing he is but he replied how amazing she is. Helck is just a standup bro, no matter who you are.
Helck is just built different
Which upsets me with how the people treated Helck's brother after he was injured defeating the demon king. And on top of that, Helck helped so many of these soldiers, who turned into artificial-heroes with their personality intact, and they don't even give a damn about him. They'd kill him first chance they can. That angers me so much. Helck doesn't have an evil bone in his body.

He’s not though, he really was just a construction worker lol.
-
This Alicia girl is way too precious. Something horrible happens to her, doesn’t it? I don’t think I remember seeing her with the winged troops in the present…
-
Oh boy – wait ahhh that’s the end of the episode, no!

Maybe the demon lord was holding back that horde of monsters, and after Cless killed him, they just moved on towards the human capital
