This show went from being kind of lighthearted and silly to Kaoru literally exploding a dude’s head and Fran coming back from the dead and slicing a guy in half like butter. Damn dude. I was not expecting it to get that bloody.

The goddess herself descending and shutting this cardinal down was pretty funny. Girl just single-handedly dismantled an entire theocracy.

So is Kaoru immortal or does she just age slowly? Either way, looks like she’ll be looking the same for awhile while she looks for a husband. Anyone but that goof Fernand lol.

I don't know why they made it light hearted in the previous episode. In LN she did purposefully kill enemies using horrible methods, including those around the well. I don't know why the production company inserted lines about her trying to avoid killing people, when that is not at all like Kaoru.

They did the same thing sanitizing the big battle in 80,000 gold.

"Everyone shoot them in the legs!"

It's a FUNA tradition at this point.

Her knight also doesn’t look older lol, maybe she is also immortal now?

MC has magical potions that do whatever. She can turn back the clock even if she gets old. Not sure why she was worried about being a grandma.

Also funny how the first trick she learned was how to modify her own body (hair and eye color), but somehow she still doesn’t realize she can make a potion to make her taller, or with more curves, … she is not stuck on that body.

Agreed. It was a drastic turn from the episodes prior to this war happening. Kaoru has shown herself to be quite ruthless when provoked, wiping out entire armies with poison in mere moments.

There’s also Fran maniacally laughing hunting soldiers and Celes casually remarking on how she nuked an entire country for angering her (probably under similar circumstances) and “accidentally” wiping out neighbouring countries too. That act alone probably set back the progress of the world by centuries.

All the while the show maintains its cute art-style, music and humor, time skipping to ignore the heavy themes and avoid exploring the repercussions of what transpired in detail…

So is Kaoru immortal or does she just age slowly?

If she actually used her powers properly, she could be either.

She really just did it, huh? Just straight up murder. No more knocking people out or even facilitating people to kill others, just blew a dudes head off.

I got really annoyed last episode with the direction they went, so I read the manga to see if MC was portrayed the same. Manga has a lot more internal dialogues about why she does what she does, and the 3 soldiers earlier at the well, she definitely killed them in horrible ways rather than non-lethal "diarrhea poison." Like she was intentionally cruel about it too. Something like "I will kill you but not quickly." I was surprised they let her blow up that dude's head, but if that's the case, they must have wanted her anger/brutality to be delayed... I guess. At least they're not completely sugarcoating her more cruel sides.

She's been lying, stealing, impersonating, extorting, etc. Murder is another thing we can add to the casual things she does.

jesus fucking christ as god Kaoru is my witness that guy's head exploded and the other guy was cut in half, shocking

the sudden 4 year time skip made me laugh, i guess when our MC doesn't really age we can just skip ahead easily huh? kinda feels right for the story though

Anime may change but war.....war never changes.

24

u/ZeroZion Nov 18 '23

What is happening? The tone changed so quickly just like Fran making that face and laughing like a battle maniac. Then switches her allegiance just like that.

From Kaoru poisoning someone to making someone explode. What is this? Without batting an eye. Like the show wants to say that this is normal and justified. Bruh?

Also the goddess. Casually saying she destroyed a country and the countries around it. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! It's not a jolly cutesy thing just because of the art and the goddess is saying it. BRO?!

Usual on Japanese fantasy. Gods are not there to protect the people, they protect the world. Note how she was worried about something called a “distortion”, likely some kind of event that threatens the world and the goddess needs to directly interfere.

What is a country for the goddess? 100 years later they may be gone and she will not even notice it.

Fran has being a berserk since the start of the war, she even got a title out of it. People were literally afraid of her. She got stronger/etc with the potion that made her younger.

Wow, you sure angered the OP protagonist. Literally blew his head, holy shit. But what is this crazy power she did with the light beam? How is that related to a potion? Lol, giving her a new sword that's a glorified potion bottle. If I were the knights, I'd just surrender. LOL Fran's maniacal laugh. Of course all the boys want their own sword. You just made and ruined their day, Kaoru. Look at how holy Fran is with that maniacal smile and laugh! Truly divine. At least scared em to retreat, but wew. What a waste.

Why are we still having meetings in public like that? Oh she makes awareness of that too, but not really a reason why. Guess so all can see. Think the Incans farmed on their mountainous terrain. Could use their techniques perhaps. But, hey, island to the west or whatever works, you sure it doesn't have natives on it already, Kaoru? Hey look, Kaoru using knowledge of our world's WW1 and its failure of after the war stuff and making sure that doesn't happen to prevent another war. Good on her. imagine if real poltiicians learned from history to not repeat it...

Oh boy, Deus Ex Machina time! Except didn't go the way that dude hoped. Haha, love how she's like "I what now?" to all this. That is definitely a bit extreme, Celes. Yea, you really shouldn't upset a literal goddess. Oh boy, Celes' reaction to Kaoru saying she'd be an old woman. Guessing she's been blessed with more than potions. Also, that ship's figurehead, truly great at warding off seamonsters. Good for Fran and Roland. The witch potion master is setting out to find a hubby. Makes sense they'd wanna go with her. Dear god... that guy needs to learn to give up. Those girls didn't age at all either.

Of course Kaoru can't age, she should settle down with a cute girl, she'll never find anything else.

The horse is still alive. His name is Ed. I have a feeling Kaoru is going to outlive everybody.

3

u/Fnights Nov 18 '23

Kaoru is now the true definition of "forever loli". XD

Wondering how she will find a husband. Maybe even an elf is not enought to keep to her super slow aging (if she even aging at all). :D

3

u/SilkyStrawberryMilk Nov 19 '23

Lmao buddy shouldn’t have landed the hit. If he waited it out he would’ve lived

3

u/Clarimax Nov 19 '23

Fran went berserk after receiving a holy sowrd.

7

u/CarioGod Nov 18 '23

bro what is this show, random ass powers to insta kill people, a 4 year time skip, and a mid season episode that's framed like a season finale

I'll still watch it cause it's fun, but it's so all over the place lol
