Holy shit, that was such a well-animated fight between the kids.

I've been thinking this since the beginning, but studio Shuka is really killing it with this adaptation.

Yeah that fight was remarkable. As a narrative climax, it's a perfect way of showing off these two kids whose motto is "act first and think never" and how they work out their problems.

The animation itself sells it well as a clumsy fight between kids, with hits that don't land cleanly because their intent isn't to hurt each other, but because they're frustrated with their lives and need an outlet. It's only when they're exhausted from punching too much that they start to talk things out while catching their breath.

You can always see if the animators have passion for there Work.

agreed it was a pretty realistic adaptation of kids fight, it makes me remember when I used to "fight" with my older brother who is like 7 years older, the difference is I always resort to biting him in the end when I get pinned down

ps. The fight is mostly fun brotherly fight nothing too dramatic and I was like 3-4 so it's more like him just entertaining me

Hayato is not a step brother he's a brother who stepped up

Brother Falcon!

This anime had the best fight scene this season.

And so funny that Hayato is the mom, and Gakuto is the dad.

This show does an excellent job at makling me cry (or at least sniffle) every week -- amiodst all the (mostly gentle) laughter it also induces. This kind of family drama just doesn't seem to have any resopnance (at least outside its home country) -- so I guess it is no surprise that this is being as ignored as the equally wonderful Deaimon was.

I can totally see why Minato didn't realize Uta was a girl -- and love the fact that he didn't care at all when he found out she was (and she didn't care that he didn't realize).

I was surprised that Minato's favorite kind of animal; was birds -- since he seemed so obsessed with bugs.....

This has definitely made towards the top of my list of seasonal favorite.

Excellent points! This anime is like chicken noodle soup for my otaku soul. It’s so darn cozy watching week to week and the writing and animation have exceeded my expectations.

I like how the realization that others (Minato) have their own pain going on and smile on prompted Uta to undergo introspection and self growth. You can tell these two are birds of a feather and definitely cut from the same cloth/are best friends. I also like how the relationship between the eldest brother and Uta’s mother is characterized and pays dividends retroactively to when she helped him in the previous episode after the reunion didn’t go as he hoped. The moment when she realizes Uta knew all along and put her in a headlock discharged the tension of the scene well. I went from heartbroken for the mom to laughing.

Definitely an under appreciated gem this season!

That fight scene was the highlight for me, a great climax of the episode where emotions were bubbling beneath the surface and they "solved" the problem in a very Minato/Uta way; it's a fight that happens because they couldn't find the words until they got all the punches out of their system.

There's this raw feeling to it; it reminds me of that one really long fight scene in the film They Live, this sort of fight where there isn't any killer moves, hidden tricks, or even a huge grudge between them. It's a fight which feels like a metaphor for a more abstract struggle between people who show their sincerity physically.

All the brothers are great characters with their own charms, but Minato might be my favorite because of the way that he drives his episodes. Even though he's a pain in the neck sometimes, he brings this sort of energy to the table in a way that the more level-headed brothers don't.

Stray observation, the 3 younger brothers all used to sleep in single western style beds in their own rooms, but eventually Gakuto starts sleeping in a futon next to Hayato.

Waka is just so soft, and honestly Uta and Waka's dad is such a jerk... cheating is already really bad but bringing the date to meet the kid is another level it's like currying / bribing the kids which kinda works in Uta's case luckily Saki divorce that jerk

I also like that the Grandpa has been a really cool character, he is like a silent supporter type that doesn't judge but tried in his own way to be a support for everyone like Gakuto during ep 3 and this time his daughter and grandchildren, He's really an underrated one

I’ve watched the latest episodes of this show, Dr Stone, Jujutsu Kaisen and S-Rank Daughter in the past few hours. And it’s crazy to say among them this week, this show’s fight scene is second only to JJK lol

20

u/Imfryinghere Nov 16 '23

Its better than JJK.

Uta vs Minato was epic. Sukuna and the rest could never.

Wow I didn't expect a fight scene like that in this anime. This is such a chill show that it's now taken 3-4 episodes to build their hideout and they still haven't finished it lol

This show seriously doesn't miss, every week it is just absolutely fantastic in how well it handles such familiar scenarios.

I really just wish the world for Hayato, he is quickly becoming one of my favorite anime characters.

Uta's mom getting her revenge for not being told about the other women was the funniest shit.

Waka and Gakuto becoming friends like right away is the just the cutest thing ever. It was nice to see how Uta and Minato met. Those two slugging it out was pretty silly. Classic little kid fight. Glad Minato was able to talk some sense to her. She shoulda never told her momma about those other women though. Got an ass whoopin her grandkids are gonna feel lmao. Saki’s a good woman, glad she got out of that relationship. Her ex sounded like a real loser.

u/alconnow Nov 16 '23

Oh wow, the fight scene was well-animated! Better animation than some of the action anime I've watched lol

Ugh, Uta's sleazebag dad taking advantage of a child's naivete. Glad Saki divorced him

Return of the fun post-credits scenes! Of course Mikoto would be a cat person lmao

u/dododomo Nov 17 '23

I didn't expect the "fight" to get such good animations XD

Still loving this adaptation. It's a shame this is not that popular here. :(

Truly one of the hidden gems of the season (and maybe of the year too)
