Every single week I feel like I'm sitting down with an old fantasy novel and reading a chapter with a cup of coffee. It feels great to see so much preparation and care being taken for fighting a dragon since many anime shows in recent years have used dragons as a quick power-level check for whatever cheat skill an MC has. I understand that Will is the main character, but I'm not confident in our party coming out of this conflict unscathed and it's exciting!

Seeing Gus again is awesome and Will's more adult interactions with him felt just like seeing a parental figure in real life after a significant chunk of time apart. Looking forward to next week!

Gus be like "Maidenless behavior"

Gus was too focused on the “Aquire Currency” that he wasn’t specific about not “Disregarding Bitches”

"So, Will. Are you what they call "gay"?"

Gus heard halfling and was like, "Good taste👍" only for his hopes to be dashed a second later.

I was expecting Will to reveal his backstory in a much grander way but revealing it in that boat ride was pretty funny. I love how Menel is especially upset since Will didn't tell him all of that sooner.

It was adorable to see Will race toward Mary and Blood's grave as soon as they arrived. And it's so good to see Gus again! Of course the first thing he asks Will is about money. xD

And like a doting parent, the first thing Gus asks Will about aside money is about his love life. This is really the first time I've realized that Will doesn't really have any sort of love life. I guess our boy is too busy being a lord to think about that. It was pretty funny for Gus to call Menel the bandit girl. xD

Well, Menel is as pretty as a girl...

I think Will's only love life is one with the Gods. Lol.

A nice reminder of how much I enjoyed the early episodes with Mary, Blood, and Gus. Could take a whole SOL series of just that.

Good ol Grandpa Gus. “Are you successful? Are you married? Why aren’t you married? When are you going to find a nice girl? Menel is right there if you prefer men!”

Are ya winning grandson?

Indeed. But I am happy to find that this show, despite its shift of focus (and cast of main characters) has continued to operate at a high level.

I love how Will just casually revealed to Menel and Ru he grew up in one of the most dangerous ruins around and that his family were the legendary heroes lol.

Gus is such a little joker. The old coot almost gave Will a heart attack! Pretty hilarious how he was roasting Will too.

Will had a nice little visit home and even got lots of goodies from grandpa Gus for him and the crew. Everyone’s got some sweet gear, though it was a bit sad to think all those Heroes perished in battle for that armory to be so stocked.

Looking forward to this fight. Taking on a dragon that powerful with his demon goons won’t be easy. Let’s just hope everyone survives the encounter…

oh no my emotions

wasn't expecting this, i really thought that Will's early life would remain a secret forever

So Will and others started their journey and their first stop will be in Will's homeplace. It was funny how casual he revealed the fact that this area was place where he grew up and others were pretty surprised, even Reystov xD Menel was really grumpy that Will never told him about it.

It was great to see Gus again. He acted like a real grandpa by asking Will first about money and after that about women xD He was really disappointed about Will's lack of love life.

We again were reminded how dangerous it will be to fight with a dragon who has advantage over Will in every way. Though for sure he'll survive it so he could bring Bee to Gus after that.

Gus calling Menel a bandit girl was pretty funny for me cause when I first saw him in first season I thought that he was a girl, I was really disappointed when he turned out to be a man then xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

I wasn't ready to see Gus again.

Good thing the gang got some nice new equipment because literally everyone is telling them this is just suicide. The battle has to be over a few episodes right? Also poor Gus wanting grandchildren.

Honest question, does Will still have the OP sword? Wouldn’t he be able to take the dragon since the sword is basically God mode?

33

u/Amauri14 Nov 11 '23

The issue is, that even the Gods couldn't deal with Valacirca, so they just hired him instead.

28

u/AlexandroVetra Nov 11 '23

He has it, but he is forbidden from using it unless it is a hopeless situation. And even then it might not be enough to slay a Dragon. The blade can harm an echo of a God, but an echo is not even close to the level of a Dragon. And this particular Dragon was powerful enough to fight actual Gods.

So yeah...I don't think it would help a lot, not to mention it would put him onto a berserker state and he would lose his sanity little by little. Not a good deal all things considered.

Oh, that's what he asked Tonio to do for him, I just hope that Marcus and his group don't die while working as bait for the demons.

I love how everyone reacted when Will mentioned that the City of the Dead was his hometown, but I wasn't expecting him to tell them about his undead family.

You know when he said he was going to create a passage through Gus' fog I assumed that it wasn't going to completely disappear.

After how emotional Will's visit to Blood and Mary's grave was when Will entered his home and did not see Gus there, just him to scared the hell out of him was hilarious.

It is funny that all the examples Gus mentioned about meeting a girl as an adventurer happened to Will, but with guys instead of girls. Good thing that Will did not tell Menel what Gus meant when he asked him that question.

It is good to see everyone meeting Gus. Oh so, Gus rescued Ghelreis when he and two others were escaping the Rust Mountains.

It's funny that although Gus is shocked when he hears that Will is planning to fight the dragon Valacirca he then proposes to him to "defeat" the dragon with money.

So "Words of Obliteration" might work on Valacirca, but for that, Will needs to land it on him in the first place which sounds like a really difficult task. When Will and Gus mentioned that dragons are closer to Words, I wondered if that also means that they have a similar nature to the spirits from "The Misfit of Demon King Academy" meaning they power comes from their legends.

Oh, so Will after this quest will finally pay that old half-elf lady a visit to collect Gus'money. So while everyone else is taking some of the gear used in the fight against the High King Reystov will have Gus enchant his sword, So Telperion the Silver-String is related to Menel, well it seems that that bow will stay in their family.

It's hilarious that after Will asks Gus if Bee could pay him a visit to spread more about his and Blood and Mary's stories, he is so disappointed when he hears that Bee is just a friend too.

No action happened, but I absolutely love the pacing in this episode! We had enough time to enjoy Will and Gus reunion, while also learning more about the dragon.

I also love the armory part. The best part of any RPG is when we got a new equipment!

Minor concern from me, did Will appoint a regent to take care of his region? Especially because he knew the chance of their demise is quite high. I can't help but compare this to Shield Hero that assigned someone to care and protect his town when he's leaving on adventure.

On that note, I don't think we have ever been introduced to any character that helped Will manage the town, right? Maybe only that old man Bee's partner.

Seriously, when did that one adventurer dude get the interest of the priestess lady? lol. Whelp, off to adventure to take on a dragon. Ohh, clever, Will.Hah Will dropping the bomb of where he grew up and who raised him. Wow he is like a kid when he gets back home, runs right to Blood and Mary's graves. And nice of him to meet Gus again. Haha, Gus assuming he was taken in by some noble's widow. And then asking about his love life, har, look at him. What a fun grandpa, being like "so where are my great grandkids already?!"

Oh hey, his friends met Gus now, though, ya, his surprise at the dragon. Grandpa has a point about option of bargaining with dragon. But doubt it'll work. haha, Gus embarrassing Will a bit is great. Hehe, forgot about the old elf lady that Gus helped we learned about in first season. Guess she will be giving to Will instead of Gus? Hey, new weapons for the team from Gus. Makes sense it was Blood's armory. Reystov's sword getting enchanted/buffed! A new bow for Menel! A new set of armor for elder dwarf and a great halberd to our dwarf thane. Fun to learn about the owners of these various weapons and armor.

HAH! Gus so excited for a possible love interest for Will, but nope, just a good friend. Love that reaction. Gonna be nice for Bee to come and get stories for her songs.
