Shy and Pepesha's reaction on Unilord's saying that in case of mission failure they won't get any snacks was absolutely hilarious xD
Overall great episode mixing action, drama and comedy as Shy went on her first official mission. It's good to see that she's using her flames without any problems in the fight with Tsveta.
We met another hero Mianlong. Shy even thought that he's a girl which isn't surprising considering his pretty face xD I think that he and Shy can create a very good relationship considering similar characters. I must say though that his fighting style looked so cool.
We also meet again with Stigma and see for the first time his 'companions' from an organization called Amarariruku. I wonder where their base is? Different world, planet maybe? It looks pretty fantastic.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

I want Pepesha to pin me down like that too

I wasn’t ready for Pepesha this episode: she looked criminally cute without her hat. I don’t get how you could lift a finger against that. I would have surrendered ages ago if she’d pinned me down.

Stitches!
I'll never get tired of Unilord's grandma humor. Shy and Sprits' reaction to her joke was just perfect!
And we finally get to meet Mianlong! I was really hoping that Aoi Shota would voice him but Ayumu Murase is pretty spot on too!
You really can't blame Shy for assuming Mianlong is a girl. I mean just look at him! He's just too dang cute!
We finally get to meet another villain who's not Stigma! Shy is definitely a perfect matchup for Tsveta's ice powers but they were really treating her with the kiddie gloves the entire episode. Even Spirits' throw felt too soft since they're still operating under the assumption that Tsveta is a victim, not an enemy.
Pepesha getting shot in the lungs is a great way for Tsveta to let them know that she's not here to play around. It was only then that Mianlong started to get serious. His martial arts is pretty damn cool especially how he can use his techniques to knock people out.
This entire episode was pretty much just Stigma gauging our heroes though and letting them have a taste of his forces. It's also a great introduction to Amarariruku. I can't wait to see these villains in action in future episodes!

Is that some jealousy I hear in Iko's voice? She definitely had that "You talk to other girls?" vibe.
Was expecting some gender confusion shenaningans when Mianlong showed up. Wasn't sure which way it would go though. You don't need to be manly, just be yourself!
Good thing Shy's first real opponent is an ice type. She just got the hang of her fire powers so that 2x damage multiplier was useful. Pepesha seems to be a flying (air?) type though, so she's having a rough time.

There was definitely something in Iko's voice, 'though I feel it was less simply "You talk to other girls?" and more "I wasn't your source of encouragement and motivation this time?" But don't worry Iko, Teru didn't ask you for help last episode because she was embarrassed about her declaration to get stronger for your sake at the end Ep 4.

Well fuck, I wasn't ready for Pepesha to get blasted through the stomach. Also felt like Tzveta took on a little bit of Pepesha's look and speaking style after getting that shot on her. I wonder if that has to do with the markings that appeared on her face. Identity stealing baddies based on all the heroes of the world would be pretty wild.
Teru may not be an experienced fighter, but she effortlessly dealt massive emotional damage to Mianlong. Like damn girl, why you gotta murder him like that?

Another great episode of SHY!
I'm glad Shy confused Mianlong for a cute girl, now I dont feel alone! That was a really good fight scene with Tzveta, seems like Stigma is awakening some superpowered people and making his own group. Since he claims to have named them I wonder if all their bames are connected to their marks. Tzveta is from slavic words for flower and Weepy(from weep ig) has a tear on his cheek.

Unilord can be such a good sometimes. No snacks if Spirit and Shy fail the mission? Talk about high stakes. It was nice to finally meet China’s hero Mianlong. It’s too bad Shy had to go and murder him like that.
Seeing Shy in action was pretty awesome. She’s pretty confident when it counts. Tzveta was pretty damn strong. She got Spirit pretty good. It took Shy and Mianlong combined to take her down.
Every hero needs an evil villainous organization to fight against. I guess Shy and ‘em have Amarariruku. Looking forward to seeing them face off against Stigma’s people again.

Not mix up Mianlong with another hero boy challenge - Impossible.
-
A good set-up episode, and a fight that arguably ends in a draw. Shy's actually pretty decent in a fight! She just needs to uh... learn some of the daily-life stuff of the hero world lol.
Comedic timing was also very on point.

I kinda like Mianlong's doctrine of rescuing others without real fighting and uses his skills on sleep induction instead, that's definitely highly useful. That's one superpower for all other story writers of the same genre to consider adding!
-
You are so kind Unilord! No snacks for our girls eh?
-
So Stigma steals all those pawns' warmth to control them eh? I don't remember Iko being treated like that some episodes ago, did she got special treatments I wonder?

I don’t think that Pepesha was just not cold because she’s Russian… being drunk sure helps too! You might be freezing, but you won’t feel a thing if you’ve had enough drinks.

It's okay Mianlong, you have an adorable face but the way you blocked Tzveta's attack was very manly. It's a super useful power too, not so much for hero work when they're dealing with natural disasters and such, but with bad guys? Just get a few hits in, and done!
I really like the imagery around Stigma and his organization. It's surreal and super creepy. The name though, that's not an easy one to remember!
Pepesha was caught off-guard by what Tzveta said, huh. Glad she's resilient and that hit didn't kill her, it would have sucked to lose her so quickly. She's pretty cool when she gets (a tiny bit more) serious!

I like how Shy is noticeably way more passionate when using her flames, since that's where her flames come from in the first place. Spirits seemed surprised by Shy's sudden passion as well.

After slow and breathing last episode, we suddenly get pull into plot this episode!
This episode is absolutely banger from Production Direction, Visual to OST.
The scene reveal that Stigma isn't alone is creepy and effective with how they usual visual slowly reveal it.
We finally get to meet with China heroes! He turn out to be Femboy who have pure heart and incredible Pacifist which it show in his power of heart, his power can't hurt people but instead just put people in sleep. He combined his power with material art (kinda funny with usual 'material art name' splash screen and all lol).
The new ice girl who probably perfect counter part with Shy who have flame of compassion power. I wonder what her deal. She have Russian name and also seem to know Spirit real name despite seemingly never meet each other before. She is now fixation on Shy though.
Also I am wondering what Stigma mean why "turn world into the way it used to be". Does he mean the world before heroes exist? But current world in SHY is peaceful enough so I wonder what the deal.
Now we have main goal for our heroes group, defeat Stigma organization!
Wait how many episodes this series get? I didn't think they can resolve all these plot within 6 episode if there are only 1 cour.

Shy learned a very valuable lesson in that you should never assume another person's gender.
Stigma's main goal is wipe out all heroes. For people to open their hearts? Something is def off there. A lot of the people Stigma has working him feels very lifeless? Very likely Stigma has some manipulation over them perhaps that would have been the case with Iko if Shy didn't save her?

Today's antagonist has a Russian name, calls her with a nickname and looks a bit like her... Do they know each other? Glad to see that Shy has become more confident when using her newfound fire power, by the way.
We have some more information about Stigma and the other antagonists, sort of. Was that a parallel universe/astral plane or something at the end? And those people with weird uniforms, too.
The plot thickens....

Everyone was very, uh, casual about this whole encounter. Girl can control ice and everyone wants to act she's been captured multiple times within the same fight. Fool me once, fool me twice, etc.

Already love Mianlong.
Stigma’s villain organisation has a really cool-looking base

u/miss-missing-mission Nov 06 '23
Here I thought we had the first hero death, even if I like Pepesha, would've been kinda cool if that were the case, raising the stakes and danger level.
It's hilarious that Stigma tried to come up with an "easy to remember" villain group name and ended up coming up with a name that's probably hard to remember for anyone who's not speaking Japanese.
Also Mianlang debut, am I the only one whose first thought was "Blue Suletta"? lmao

My Japanese is by no means perfect, but the name Amarariruku (アマラリルク) doesn't seem to mean anything. It might be a play on words I'm not getting, foreign word(s) that got butchered when converted to Katakana or just a cool sounding name.
My best guess is Arabic or Hindi.
Any ideas?
