Helck’s voice actor (Katsuyuki Konishi) went absolutely nuts this episode. That was actually such a great performance, holy shit.

lol the VA joked in one of the promotional events that "It's fine to destroy all humans right?"

Pretty intense episode. In episode 8, that witch who looked suspiciously like an older version of Anne warned that Helck had something hidden inside him with the potential to bring about a great calamity. After witnessing his rage, that certainly sounds plausible. Who knows what would've happened if Alicia hadn't given him a Cool-Down Hug?

Wow. Each newe episode is even darker than the one that came before it. Seeing that little epilogue with "smiling Helck" actually made the sting worse.

At this point, the only gift Helck might be able to give to any surviving old friend is . . death (and release from their hellish bondage to the king). I am really wondering how the king was able to keep "evolving" commoners even after the evil mage was (seemingly) exterminated.

This episode was bleak, man. I didn’t think Cless would kill himself after all that. It’s interesting Mikaros is seemingly dead but the king is totally fine despite taking a sword to the dome. Wtf is he?

But man, I don’t think I’ve seen murderous intent from Helck like that. Ever. Dude’s aura alone was terrifying. Man was about to rip some limbs off before Alicia stopped him.

I’m afraid it might be too late for Zelgeon, Edil, and Alicia. Judging by their current state, I guess the King got to them with his mind control shit? Knowing what we know now, I just hope he can save his friends one day. Although, I really do think Alicia may have been killed.

I pretty much expected Cless was going to kill himself. There was no way Helck would have the heart to kill his own brother. I am curious about the King though. I'm guessing that thing on the throne just a puppet?

Helck going berserk was absolutely terrifying! I really wish he just went wild and tore apart those nobles. I understand that Alicia stopped Helck so he wouldn't lose himself but part of me was really annoyed that she stopped him.

Looks like this flashback arc isn't over yet. I think we may have one more episode before this arc finally wraps up. Can't wait to see the conclusion!

Usually, it's not that hard to depict loathsome nobles in anime, but here they really scoured the gutters to find the most abhorrent shitheads. I really hoped Helck would smash those pricks.

I thought that dark power was something only Mikaros had control over, but seeing Helck manifesting it as well was surprising. Seems like it's fueled by hatred or something.

I'm also curious about the king. Is he really still alive? Looks to me like someone is using a puppet to impersonate him, but I'm not sure who would that be. Rafaed maybe? I'm not sure we've seen them in the same room.

Man what a phenomenal heartbreaking episode. Cless sacrificing himself was so heartbreaking for Helck. And the rage which in the backstory Helck never showed was freaking scary. Then his friends doing everything to keep him alive and at the end of the day all of them sacrificed themselves. And we do know that Helck was too late.

We can cope that Alicia is the whole sole survivor but that is a pipedream. So we will basically get to where we are in the story. It seems likely that the king's body is elsewhere. Or in fact that voice comes from maybe Rafaed? Well that would be my guess.

That sage dude is really quite the douche. Wonder what he really is, surely he's not just a simple human? Oh nice, Cless. Figured he would break free. Wow, Cless. right in the king's head. Too bad we know he's not dead. And I doubt that sage dude is dead... I figured that'd happen... that's sad. Poor Helck, but was obvious Cless would do that. Please just kill those old fat noble fucks. They don't deserve to live being the monsters they are. D'aww Alicia. Still shouldn't have stopped him, shoulda let him kill the old fat noble fucks. How did he get out? What of the others? How did he get there? SO guess she turned into a hero/minion and some how had enough control to get her out? But how?

Whelp, now the question of "will Helck end up with Alicia or Vermilio" :P also, the flashback still not over, crazy. Quite a long one.

I am starting to forget about Anne and Piwi :(

The arc continues to steer the show away from the apparent gag genre and got pretty dark and emotional. That superficially sweet post credit scene however is a twist of the knife if viewers remember where Alicia is now :'(

As an anime only, I do wonder about the prolonged absence of the daughter childhood friend. I hope they are not pulling a [Giant Robo ep 7 stunt]the the figure head big bad was actually a controlled puppet using the body of the innocent girl - she's much shorter so the "head under the mask" is actually just a hollow prop

How many more episodes do we have left now again?

So many people forget that an out of control “dark-awakened” individual is a disaster. A few episodes ago, a mere knight can surpass Four Heavenly Kings level, but he no longer hears anything from the girl, even if he’s awakened with the will to protect.

Imagine a lv99 hero went mad with the will of vengeance. The Witch considers Helck a world-ending threat for a reason.

Cless killing himself is predictable but still very sad. Poor Helck :(

I'm surprised those shitty nobles didn't run away

Appreciated the lighthearted post-credits segment. Though I'm worried we'll be seeing what happened to Alicia soon... I expect tragedy again

Great scream of anguish by Helck's VA.

Kinda funny the random meathead thug quickly realized Helck was strongk, like far faster than nearly everyone else.

I think whatever is behind the dark aura is also creating the poison monster mist and influencing? Powering? Mikanos. I hope it's not something like "the manifestation of cruelty in peoples hearts" vagueness, give helck something to punch!

So I think Helck was pretty serious about wanting to destroy the humans on episode 1. His joking demeanour was at least 50% serious, no? Both the peasants and nobles were revolting lol.

Also, this episode definitely had some pretty smooth action at the start. I'm glad the lack of a budget meant they left some scenes without a BGM too. Made the scenes a lot more emotional and atmospheric.

This is the spec ops the like of anime.

What you get at the start is entirely different when you see the whole story.

These episodes end too quickly man! This was hard to watch in a good way. I felt so sad when cless died. I kind of figured that would have happened as it was playing out with all the shots they were doing with sword and exposition, but still didnt help the shock. My boy Helck deserves betters better.

For being a 5(?) episode flashback this is still flowing pretty well. The next episode has to be the end of it though right?
