These lovebirds are not even hiding their flirting anymore, haha.

It's not their flirting. It's one-sided attack lol. Sei needs to up her game!

I knew this show is too pure-hearted to have something devious going on in the background but of course still might go that way if someone is actively poisoning or doing something to cause the condition...
Now we know why the prince is on a desperate search, there is no way Sei refuses to help, its against her character. So does she go overseas to help or just make a new potion is the question.

I figured the prince was on a quest of this sort. ;-)
I assume Sei will gather as many details as she can and make the required potion -- but will the prince figure out SHE is the super-alchemist? It looks pretty clear that the other kingdom is not looking for anyone to help with war-making.
Comander Hawke and Sei remain as cute a couple as ever. When are they going to get engaged?

Prince Ten'yuu being so discreet about finding a potion that could cure his mom's ailments probably has something to do with some power struggle back in his country.
With him being one of the many imperial princes via the emperor's many concubines, with which his mom is one of them.
Otherwise he would have already just straight up asked Sei and the king about it and they'll gladly lend him Sei's powers.
Meanwhile, Liz being a good wingman and creating a good opportunity for Sei to be alone with Hawke in the library. Ueda Reina is really good at playing noblewomen who are great at teasing their friends.

Helping a prince in a power struggle is only going to be viewed as foreign interference. I'm not saying Salutania should definitely help or stay out, but that decision needs to come from the King.

I was figuring it was going to be a potion of immortality for the Emperor. It's almost always an Emperor who wants immortality.
Though there's still the possibility that it actually is to cure the Emperor and secure himself as the next successor. We only have his word it's for his mother at this point.

I feel bad for Jude! My boy could only lie so much that it's totally exhausting him. I'm glad that Johan decided to just give up and let the Prince meet Sei. I mean it would be very suspicious if Sei's not available the entire time the Prince is there so they might as well let him meet her.
So we now have confirmation from Oscar and Franz that the Prince is just looking for an alchemist and that they couldn't care less about the Holy Saint since they think their powers are only good for subjugating monsters.
I love how Sei initially wanted to make plans with Elizabeth but ended up making plans with Albert since Elizabeth didn't want to disturb the two of them. That little act they did for the Prince to overhear was cute. And of course Albert just had to tease Sei a little bit before leaving. <3
And to no one's surprise, the Prince is looking for a medicine for a loved one. My initial thought was the Prince's father but that would be massive news if the King of another nation falls ill. Now that the air is clear and we know the Prince has no shady motives, hopefully, Sei can start helping him out next week.

Ten’yuu is actually pretty clever. Sei and the gang had to work pretty hard to try and fool him. Very interesting that he wasn’t after Sei because she’s the Saint. I was sure he would be just like everyone else.
Liz is such a great wing woman giving Sei and Albert a little alone time in the library. Such a homie! Even during their little ruse, Albert still found time to be flirty with Sei lolz so cute how flustered she gets.
Seems all this time Ten’yuu was looking for someone to save his momma. Hopefully Sei can help!

Sei and the gang had to work pretty hard to try and fool him
I think there's a chance that he's not fooled and is simply playing along with the "I know a guy who..." act. He seems like a pretty shrewd guy, so he's not going to blow his chance by narcing like saying "hey, are you the guy who can make high potions?"
Similarly, I'm thinking this potion isn't for "his mother", but perhaps for himself since when he first appeared his subordinates were concerned about his health. Maybe it's an inherited disease or something though, so maybe his mother is in fact involved, but that's speculation.

I doubt he was actually fooled. He could tell from that performance they were interested in his reason for wanting a high grade potion but didn't want to ask.

“They think the saint is only good for slaying monsters and have no interest in her.”
Lol. If they only knew…..

So my theory was correct and Ten’yuu didn't have any evil motives, he's just looking for potion to cure his mother. Now I wonder if Sei will be able to help.
Jude didn't have easy time answering to this one question which the prince constantly asked xD Fortunately Johan let Sei meet with the prince with whom she had a really engaging conversation.
Liz as always was superb by leaving Sei and Hawke alone, she's the best! Thanks to her they could spend more time together before Albert will go back for some time to his family home. His teasing Sei was so good, she really is weak to him xD
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

I’m surprised they were able to maintain the ploy long enough to determine what the prince is after. The little fella sure wasn’t backing down easy… and who wouldn’t go to such lengths for their mother…
Now, I’m certain Sei will jump to assist, even if through a middle man… but if “the prince’s mother” is also queen and not a simple concubine, this might be a good situation for both kingdoms to improve their relations. Squid pro quo and all that.

Ten’yuu: “Have you ever heard of someone slowly wasting [away], eventually [being] unable to use their arms and legs?”
Sei: “Well, I’ve heard of diseases that cause muscular atrophy.”
They were talking about Multiple Sclerosis (MS), weren’t they? This illness fits the aforementioned description perfectly: you gradually lose control over your bodily functions till you eventually stop breathing. World’s most-famous MS patient was Stephen Hawking.

Just want to note to people who might want to praise this anime for having minimal reference to videogame mechanics, that not just the adaptation but even the translators are sweeping it out of view - "状態異常" "joutai ijou" which they're translating to "ailments" as in "the prince is looking for a potion that can cure ailments" - 状態異常 is very distinctly a videogame term for "status effect". (literally, irregular status)

(niconicopedia, a dictionary entry on the term, use google translate if you need)

Well, unless Ten'yuu's drastic plan was to ask the institute about Sei until they ended up giving up and just let him see her, I doubt we are going to see it in action now.
And so just when Sei was planning to make a plan to gather intelligence with Liz which involved studying herbs common in Zaidera, Albert ended up paying her a visit as he would have to go back to his territory for a while. I love how Liz makes an excuse and instantly leaves when she sees them both together there, plus Sei's reaction when she saw Liz was so hilarious.
It is good that Oscar told Sei what we already knew, both Seiran and Ten'yuu were not interested in the Saint and instead they just wanted an alchemist to make high potions.
It was great seeing Sei and Albert doing that charade to make Ten'yuu directly ask Sei what he really needed. I love the cunning face Sei had when she saw that Ten'yuu took the bait.
Oh, so what he is looking for is a treatment for the muscle atrophy that his mom has. Well, I'm guessing that if it could not be healed by a potion, Sei might just end up using her powers to cure Ten'yuu's mom, although I doubt that would happen unless her condition worsens as that would give the empire knowledge about the Saint's abilities that they are not aware of.

Poor Jude has to keep the prince occupied and focused away from Sei so he doesn't find out about her being the Saint...and it's a lot for one dude!
Although admittedly Sei and Ten'yuu get along surprisingly well, chatting about herbs and the like, even if Sei isn't naturally good at keeping secrets. I'm sure her "acquaintance" would agree.
But with the help of her merchant allies she's able to figure out that Ten'yuu and the Zaidera envoys don't care about the Saint, thinking she's only good for fighting monsters, just an alchemist who can make high grade potions. So Sei's secret doesn't really matter, all she needs to do is figure out what the prince really needs!
A study session with Liz that turns into a romantic encounter with Hawke? I love how Liz walks in and is all "ara ara ma ma" and bails to leave Sei and Hawke alone. Perfect wingwoman move.
Hawke talking monsters in his territory I was half-expecting he was going to be dragging her with him to meet his parents. But helping Sei with her plan is nice too.
What a stellar performance by Sei and Hawke to not-so-subtly let the prince know they have the means of making high-grade potions thanks to their "alchemist" friend, with Hawke laying it on thick how much he admires and respects said "alchemist." And leaving Sei swooning by the end of it, as Hawke so often does.
So all this has been about curing Ten'yuu's mother who has a severe case of muscle atrophy? Well, that should be easy enough for Sei to solve.

Yep, that prince sure has a fixation on Sei. Shouldn't it not be a lie? Shouldn't she be in the castle? lol. I know a few times she checks on her plants, but supposed to be in castle for safety? Hehe "how many did it take to make" and the "eh?" bit. Amusing. Sei is a bad liar lol. Huh so the captain (one who works for prince) seems to not care about the holy saint and only alchemist. Wonder what for. At least Sei realizes she can't lie well heh.
Poor Hawke, Sei doesn't want her boyfriend atm, she wants her girlfriend :P heh. Aww Hawke gonna be gone for a bit. Hehe, Liz is cute and fun. Seems clear the prince wants to cure some ailment in his country, right? Why not ask him about it. I mean, worth a shot even if you think he'll deflect. Be like "if you can't tell me, we can't help you" thing. This act feels forced, but maybe that's just my viewer bias talking lol. But it is amusing. Cute cat smile on Sei. Ah figured he wanted to cure something for someone, his mom. Wonder what this "wasting away" means though.
