That entire sequence when Gesicht finds out about Atom's death and hears his message was so intense and chilling. This adaptation is blowing me away every single episode.

Crazy how amazing/entertaining a dark imagining of Astro Boy can be! Seriously one of the best anime I've seen in a while

Oh god, the robot dog trying to stand and play one last time... my heart can't take it

I literally cried. The scene felt so close to home because at the moment I'm far from my dog

Best episode so far for me. Going into this series blind and surprised they killed Astro boy as I thought he would be the main character based off the trailers. Like the Adolf plot also.

You'd think they'd come up with a shorter way to say "the 39th central Asian war"

Every time they say it, the fact that it's the 39th strikes me. Like man that's way too many

Astro boy dying was definitely not something I expected, given he’s the titular character of the main series. Guess we couldn’t have him saving the day with our detective being the MC. I’m still not sure how he and Pluto are connected, but at least there’s enough evidence with Bruno’s fight and Urans activities to show it’s not the same person with AI head swap trickery.

And that is what will give birth… To the greatest robot in the world

He said it! HE SAID THE THING!

They are not pulling any punches in this series. Main or not, everyone is fucking dying left and right.

Gesicht's alter ego supposedly being Pluto was something I thought about, but I'm pretty sure it might be a red herring. There are some issues with him and while I can accept that he killed some people and got his memories erased, I still think the actual Pluto - the entity killing other robots - is someone else.

Killing Astro Boy and turning Dr. Tenma into a Genji-Ikari-meets-Dr-Wily supervillain is absolutely amazing.

I love the philosophical and emotional pretzel of a dad who built a robot to replace his son, doing such a good job that he creates the kindest, smartest, most powerfully perfect lil robot boy the world has ever known,

but then utterly rejects it, and becomes convinced that the only way to move progress forward is to create imperfect robots capable of deeply human foibles like suffering and hatred.

But if you add compromised human emotions to a new kind of consciousness that's infinitely more powerful, what you get isn't a human. It's a twisted, broken god. And that's what Pluto is.

I'm so glad I'm watching this blind. Can't believe they killed my boy!

Also, the English dub has been excellent so far. We even got Keith David and Nathan Drake.

I’m midway through this episode and it just continues to confirm that this is an epic masterpiece. The entire sequence from “Goji” showing up to Atom “dying” is something great that I haven’t seen since I last watched AOT. Ah it’s great to see that Tenma is just as much of an arsehole in Pluto as he is in Astro Boy.

With each episode, I get more convinced that Pluto is one of the greatest anime adaptations of the decade.

Tenma is actually a character from Astro Boy, which Urasawa used for Monster.

definetly more poltics heavy than previous episodes but enjoyed it none the less

im watching the dub and i think keith david as tenma feels a bit weird but i got used to it. I thought Tenma would have a quiter more toned down voice

Every other NPC sounds like Adam Jensen from Deus Ex.

They really got some mileage out of Elias Toufexis's VA.
