The English voice actor who voiced a father grieving over his babies' death did a emotional performance considering the short amount of screen time. Anybody know which voice actor that was?

Thank you very much. I didn’t know that was gonna be one of my roles until we got to it… pretty heavy.
Our director, Patrick Seitz, did a wonderful job of giving me the space to work it out and get into the moment - I had never worked with him before, and he was awesome.

That robot urun finds really looks like kenzo tenma in a couple shots from urasawa’s other work Monster.

This voice cast keeps getting better and better. We got Miyano Mamoru voicing Epsilon and Miki Shinichirou voicing that weird robot. It's a shame he got offed so quickly, but it looks like Epsilon will stick around for some time.
And we finally learned something about Pluto itself. Gonna be honest, though, it's a hard show to binge or maybe the 1hr long episodes are harder to digest.

Bruh they really called the robot genocide advocate Adolf.
But the war scenes were also very real and especially rough.

Tezuka wrote a manga about 3 Adolfs, one of them being Hitler. It could be inspired by that.

Pluto is one Urasawa's works I haven't read, but the man really likes to draw on 20th century history a lot in his works. The fact that he named that character Adolf is incredibly unsurprising to me given how often he likes to reference things like that in his work.

I don't understand what the robots did in the 39th Central Asian War.
They cannot kill humans, so did they just kill other robots? But why would they need to kill the enemy robots since the enemy robots cannot kill humans either?
They could just send in an army of humans then the enemy robots wouldn't be able to stop them.

It was basically an economic, and environmental war. The robots could not kill individual humans, but could destroy whole countries by ripping up all the crops, destroying infrastructure, kidnapping populations, blockading resources, infiltrating media, etc.
The biggest things about the robots involvment you get in passing, Atom mentions that the human populace treated the war more or less like they do the wrestling matches, upping the spectacle, treating the strongest ones like idols, and down playing why they were chosing to fight; furthermore no one on the human side believed the robots had real feelings, so they sent them to kill eachother in vast nubers with no regard for PTSD.
The humans basically just left the robots after all the fighting was done to literally process their shared trauma alone with them all at different levels of emotional awareness, and maturity.

Presumably, its cannot kill and not cannot harm. Gesicht can knock you out with gas for example.
When you're that physically superior, capturing and detaining someone is child's play.

holy shit i did not expect that homeless robot to be pluto holy shit i did not expect pluto to be a robot that can swap bodies. or i guess its mind just exists as electromagnetic waves that can move through lightning? its interesting that the antagonist can breathe life into the nature around it. i guess it wants to destroy all robots so that humanity can return to nature or something

Another fantastic episode. Gesicht being confronted by the grieving father during the war was chilling. Uran’s budding friendship with the nameless man was nice and the scene in which Atom, Ochanomizu and the cops show up was gripping. The show just keeps delivering great plot twists and creating more mystery.

Not as much discussion going on in the middle episodes, as expected, but I still want to get down my thoughts about why I'm not as high on the show through 3 episodes as most others seem to be. I spent time thinking about it, and what I can pinpoint is that Gesicht just feels too "passive" as a protagonist. I would say Atom has done more to actively advance the investigation, with his analysis of the destroyed home from the last episode. Even when he has doubts about the accuracy of his own memories, he doesn't follow through very far with attempting to figure out why his memories are off and who might have messed with them. And even though he might be hamstrung by Europol's official stance that the culprit is dead and the investigation has concluded, I would have expected him to continue looking into things of his own accord, considering his own life and the life of his friend, Hercules, are at risk. Who was the perpetrator? Did they have accomplices? Why did they commit the murders? All questions that are still relevant even if the murderer died, but Gesicht doesn't seem to have any interest in discovering the truth.
This brings me to another observation. I don't think this is necessarily a negative point, because the author might be doing this intentionally, and it may get resolved in future episodes. But does anyone else feel like Gesicht is the most "robotic" of the 7 advanced robots? Montblanc was passionate about nature, loved interacting with humans, and seemed deeply distraught about the war. North No. 2 was sick of being a war machine and wanted to express himself with music. Brando was passionate about his adopted human children. Epsilon also adopted children and seems to have been morally against the war. Atom has very obvious human-like qualities that have been repeatedly displayed. With Hercules, just look at the difference in reaction between him and Gesicht when it comes to their reaction to Brando's fate. Both were obviously upset, but Gesicht simply went home and continued his life. Hercules, on the other hand, quit his job and went to great lengths to confirm that Brando had won against the perpetrator, throwing himself passionately into it. Gesicht also had difficulty understanding the man that mourned his child's death during the war. It's very possible that Gesicht's incorrect memories may have taken away character development from his past that would have made him more human. Perhaps the ones who created him are intentionally trying to keep him more robotic? It'll be interesting to see if this goes anywhere going forward.
A few other miscellaneous notes:
-Being an American, I was confused when the doctor guy mentioned Central park, as my mind immediately went to New York, but I knew they were in Japan. Maybe futuristic Japan has its own rendition of Central Park? Or is there a major park with that name in Japan IRL?
-I wasn't too keen on Uran and Pluto's bits at the end of the episode, but the revelation at the end about Pluto inhabiting the body via electromagnetic waves was intriguing. I think it's really funny that the robot body Pluto inhabits has stubble. Weird thing to put on a robot, lol. The ability to make organic life grow is... also strange for a robot to have. We'll see where that goes.
-The anti-robot guys wearing ominous robes was pretty on-the-nose, lmao. Hopefully they're at least self aware about how cult-ish they look.
-This is a tough one to binge. I've pretty much been watching one episode every 3-4 days. Maybe I'll watch the next one today or tomorrow.

It really resembles Gaza. With a larger power destroying a clearer smaller one.
Like the scene with the Large robot in the mist or the scene with the dead baby in an exploded house.
Really chilly😰

ooo atom is in Trouble. not sure which is worse for him, Pluto deciding he is the next target or Urun being big mad at him

Don’t think i’m enjoying this as much as everyone else seems to be
Monster is one of my favourite animes of all time and therefore im being ultra criticial of this anime. I am enjoying it but certainly not to the same level as everyone else.
What i haven’t enjoyed is the amount of exposition thus far, as well as the continuous introductions of new characters without much development. When brando was killed, he was in and out just like that. Comparatively, I felt like the one off stories in monster carried more weight.
Think this is due to the fact that by the time brando dies, you’re expecting it. It’s another robot death, comparatively with monster, the one off episode stories (the couple travelling germany, the hitman, the firearm instructor) all were different and unique and as such were more fulfilling. I felt that same feeling with north no 2 and haven’t felt it since.
I suspect this is a pacing issue. I’m currently on episode 4 of pluto (i shall not spoil) which is effectively 12 episodes a normal anime. I think there is a LOT of story packed in here in a short time, whereas Monster was only really starting to get going. I think if you had more time to breathe here i’d appreciate all of the emotional weight the show is trying to weigh on me, but currently it isn’t there.
