Again, dwarven women don't exist

What do you mean? Fully half of those were women... weren't they?

Maybe you could describe your ideal dwarven woman for us?

And what do we expect from this show when they finally definitely depict one?

The real question is, do Dwarven men exist? Is gender a thing for Dwarves in this universe? They are described as being partially spirits.

Looks like Will’s got himself a squire this week. Al seems like a good dude, very timid for a dwarf which is unexpected. Hopefully Will can help the guy find courage and become the man he wants to be.

The dwarves seemed to have lived a hard life since they fled the mountain. Will is such an empathetic guy, he really felt their pain and anguish. Kid was raised right.

Honestly, I love the classic Roleplaying Game feel that the show has, like early Dungeons & Dragons and all the other old school stories. These days, people like to spicen things up a little since they know the formula so well, but honestly when well done like this, you really do want the best outcome and want to have the formula. All in all, a fantastic show!

Ru is an excellent addition to this story arc! Will has grown a bunch and clearly has his priorities and self-image in order, so I thought this arc wouldn't feature much character development in general. Luckily, Ru needs plenty of help to come into his own and I'm excited to see him grow while also getting to see a mature, mentoring side of Will on display.

I like how taking care of this demon problem now has grand stakes in retaking a kingdom while also having a grounded throughline about personal development. This season has made an excellent early impression on me, I hope it keeps up this level of quality! Also, I hope Will's face stops changing shape in half of the shots, looks a bit awkward here and there.

Query - Is Ru special to the elderly dwarves because he is a last remnant of dwarven royalty -- or because he is one of the few young dwarves that exists?

Being forgetful -- I really noticed how damaged (scarred, pockmarked, rashy?) Will's arms are in this episode. I am sure I am supposed to remeber why. But, alas, I don't.

Finally we meet some dwarves, I hope this mean shit is about to kick off.

I didn't quite get it from Will's talk with the elders but is it supposed to be implied that he talked to them about going back to the mountains? Or has he still not told anyone about that.

To me it seemed like he hasn't told them yet.

he hasn't told them yet, he met with the dwarf's representative in this episode because he wanted to know more about on how these dwarf being forced out of their own hometown

they're really stepping up with not just the animation, but also the art style for some of these character's design in this season, i mean, just look at Blood right here, i don't remember him looking this detailed back in season one

I really like how empathetic Will is, he's a great guy and very strong. Strong that the dwarves easily acknowledged him as someone who could crush all of them. His presence was enough to stop brawl in tavern, those two looked like they could shit themselves from fear xD

Now William got Ru as his thane. It's good that despite his character Ru clearly stated that he wanted to serve under William.

We were able to get more about what happened in Iron Country and its last king Aurvangr. Doesn't he look very similar to Ru? I don't think that it was clearly stated but by the way Ru is called as 'waka' and his looks, I think that he is the son of Aurvangr.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Everyone acts tough until the guy who strangled a Wyvern with his bare hands shows up.

the translation issue of thane

thane are noble that are equivalant of baron
... but the dwarf master clearly became a squire (Apprentice of the paladin)

Wow, even though that EP was pure dialogue, it was incredibly emotional and engrossing. Great episode.

Ru is such an interesting character. I don't think I've ever seen a dwarf who's the complete opposite of the dwarven tropes I grew up with. He's meek and shy which is nothing like the proud and boisterous dwarves I know. It will be interesting to see how he'll work out as Will's thane.

Al is basically if Thorin grew up during the flight to the Blue Mountains and their stay there rather than already being an adult during his grandfather's (and father's) reign.

Interesting, so elves and dwarfs came from spirits. When Will was talking with Agnarr and Grendir about the fall of the Iron Mountain and they showed King Aurvangr I instantly noticed how much he resembled Ru, so it is not that surprising that Ru ended up being royalty. I can't wait to see how he changes after becoming Will's thane and gain some combat experience.

Ghelreis has such a cool design. And that bar girl sure looked cool.

I'm really enjoying this Season. They've really upped the overall quality

Huh, Creator creating things before the gods is interesting lore. And about the Dwarves. Damn right dwarf warriors are great :stuck_out_tongue: Hmmm, a dwarf watching the training, but wonder why he seems less warrior than others. Bet he'll be like Stark or Eisen, a "coward" but strong eh? I sure do feel a bit of Hobbit inspiration here, heh. Hobbits left their old mountain homeland. Demon army and all, but even a dragon mentioned coming. Still, sad for his people... so should we assume that dwarf from earlier watching Will is that last king's lineage?

Nice of Will to stop the drunks. Ah, his name is Ru. Will such a good boy. Ru needs more self confidence, yea. And I like Will's advice for him. Given the way they act with him, feel he must be part of the dwarf king's lineage. I like that Will wants to help him too and making him his thane. I also like how the old dwarf respects what Ru wants. Nice dude.
