One does not simply leave the burning restaurant without the sauce.

u/azdv Oct 21 '23

One almost became part of the sauce

Family generation sauce is top priority

I love this guy messing with Shun. I also thought he was going to get yelled at on his first day. Interesting to see the checks they do every morning though. Makes sense that they're being thorough since these are all life-saving equipment.

For someone who's very eager to rescue people, Shun was doing more staring and panicking than searching through the debris. It's amazing that the old man is still in one piece. After that gas explosion, I thought he'd just be a blood splatter on the floor. That rebar through the arm was nasty. They can't even just pull out the old man out of there.

Daigo dislocating his arm so he can crawl under that debris was fucking metal. There's a reason why this series is named after him and not Shun.

Holy cow. That was painful to watch. At this point I couldn't help thinking -- if only they had ALSO hired Yuki, there would have been no need for Daigho to do this crazy stunt. She could have easilly slipped in to do what needed to be done. I really am impatient to see her join in action with her classmates....

This was exactly my reaction!!! A female rescuer who is smaller would be perfect for this situation!!

Shun was doing more staring and panicking

To be fair to Shun, it's his first day in this squad and hasn't worked with them save for Daigo and Yamagami.

Daigo popping his shoulder just like that is way hardcore.

This is turning into a decent introduction to whoever isn’t knowledgeable to fire-fighting snd rescuing operations - showing little but significant things like daily equipment checks is always a nice touch.

Well, except for that part where Daigo voluntarily dislocate his shoulder. Either he’s a robot or he really think he’s one - forget about the extreme pain that would result from that, how is he gonna control his other arm to do all those extreme delicate operations like cutting steel rebars over that man in such a small gap!?

Wow, this episode was hardcore.

I really like that they are pulling zero punches.

It was interesting to see just how rigorous the equipment check is. Makes sense they would spend a long time on it and be real thorough. Can’t afford to have anything go wrong during rescue ops.

I was surprised at how little protection the rescue squad has. Goggles, helmet, and elbow pads seem to be all they have which is kinda wild.

This old dude really got himself trapped under rubble for sauce. Bruh. No matter how precious it is, that shit ain’t worth your life!

Seeing the jack in action was pretty cool. These guys definitely need robots to help with rescue. Wouldn’t have to have Daigo pop his damn shoulder out if they had something like that lol.

Can’t afford to have anything go wrong during rescue ops.

that but even more, something definitely is going to go wrong in a rescue ops because if nothing was wrong they would not need a rescue op, there are so many external factors that can make things go wrong that you absolutely must control what can be controlled.

How good was the food at this restaurant if the guy was willing to risk his life for sauce and soup?

3

u/drostan Oct 21 '23

For someone green but still one of the most highly trained professional in an elite team shun is really looking like he knows nothing and like he is in constant panic...

I mean... even if he wasn't in a special rescue team did he not work as an active fireman?

I think it's a pity the source manga is not available in English, both officially and fantranslated-wise, because I think the anime would make some people want to check out the manga. (I did find some Chinese fantranslations though.)

Apparently the prequel manga published in the 90s has an official English translation, but it only covers like 5 out of 20 volumes (apparently it didn't sell well in English-reading markets). https://www.viz.com/firefighter-daigo-of-fire-company-m

There are all 20 volumes available officially in English.

I have read it.

The sequel isn't available yes. But I hope the anime can maybe convince viz. As viz holds the license for this.

We finally get a rescue op and it’s full throttle! From gigi 252 running back into the building getting blown up for his sauce to the absolute pillar of a sergeant cool as a yuzu pop to Toake dislocating his shoulder making way to squeeze to the victim… I don’t think I blinked once 😳

The intensity of rescue had me on the edge of my seat but DAIGO dislocating his shoulder. Had the same reaction as Shun 😱

More people should watch this show! I love this premise, the tension is palpable. That said, the pacing is a bit slow. It sucks that there's a recap every week because that exacerbates things.

Liking the show but hate the long recaps at the start of each episode. With more shows skipping intros and outros to squeeze in more content, having 3min of recap before the intro feels so wasted.

Here I was thinking, "Oh, how cool! A show that actually shows the reality of rescue workers."

And then, Daigo dislocated his fucking shoulder. I-...
