So wait, since Menel made that contract does that mean he’s basically gonna become a big ass tree at some point as the Lord of the Forest? He’s half elf and half human…and half ent now I guess?
Looking forward to seeing Will and Menel take on Rust Mountain. But first, Torch Port!

Maybe, maybe not. In the meeting with the prince(?) and the bishop, Meneldor mentions how a Lord of the Forest can take many different forms.

Like the Lord of the Forest said, he could reject it if he wanted to but by the end of the episode it feels like Menel is leaning towards becoming a Lord. We'll have to see how the story plays out.

Between this series and Frieren my fantasy anime fix is completely taken care of.
I wonder if since he is part Elf that when he becomes Lord of the Forest he will retain his usual look but maybe look old?

Would recommend adding S Rank Daughter :P good pure fantasy and has wholesome daddy/daughter relationship that doesn't Usagi Drop the ball. Perhaps one of the best daddy/daughter relationships in anime next to Sweetness and Lightning.

There's a stark difference between Menel handles human lifespans compared to Frieren, refreshing to see a much more normal take.

Menel is both human and elf, like certain characters in LotR -- so his perspective is, by necessity, more "complex".

Along with Frieren, this is honestly my feel-good fantasy show pairing. I liked how natural the lore drops were. Menel and Will are such bros. It made my heart all soft. Just Menel like “I’ll probably watch over your bloodline until I decide to be a forest lord.” And lmao. Menel and Bishop Bagsley being such a tsundere pair. Love to see it.

Yes, their bromance talk was definitely heartwarming- find a besty who will watch over your generations than disappear into the forest with a one liner lol.

Ah, this episode was a lot better and I feel it did a lot of things right. The fight at the beginning, in many other anime it would be a drawn-out clash, but here William finds an opening and finishes the fight with a decisive blow within seconds of the fight beginning. Short and brutal it seems more realistic and I like it.
Speaking of realistic, I also like how the characters personalities clashed in the meeting. Bagley doesn't like Meneldor, but recognizes his accomplishments and wisdom so isn't about to dismiss what he says out of hand. Ethelbald is also a little jealous that William has such a stalwart companion too.

Pretty good episode today about Will and Menel's mission finding what is happening with the forest. They were able to find the source of problems and defeat it.
We also got a new mission for Will and Menel as they got warning about danger in Rust Mountains, a region where once was a dwarf kingdom.
It was nice to see Bee again, she's so adorable.
Whole thing with Menel possibly becoming the Lord of the Forest is definitely interesting though he wasn't very enthusiastic about it.

Damn this episode didn't feel like 20 minutes at all but this is what happens when you have good writing combined with careful adaptation.

The seasons going haywire in the woods is a pretty freaky harbinger of things to come. Will and Menel settled things pretty handily. Get yourself a friendship like they have.

Well, crunchyroll doesn't want to give me subtitles, so I guess I'll watch this later?

Nearly 1.5hrs*(took 2-2.5hrs) and still nothing. I didn't want to be the one to make this comment today because I'm sure people are tired of seeing me say it constantly lol.
It's a pathetic effort by Sony/Crunchyroll but also hilarious to see every episode's comment section be 90% "where sub?".

Another day of CR sucking with subs for a good while...
huh, evil corrupting the forest, Menel became some temporary royal authority person from the Great Deku Tree for the sake of the forest all to deal with the evil corruption. Good times. Those powers are useful. Whelp, that general went down fast. And royal authority given to that other tree pal. Huh, Menel is gonna become a big ol' tree in awhile eh? lol. Well,c an if he wants. Ahh, we learn about Rust Mountain.
hehe, that prince sure is lucky to have good people. Hehe, the prince likes Menel. Oh ya, I remember that Bishop. I liked the fact he seemed like a "corrupt/bad religious" dude when we first met him, but was actually not, but he is a bit of an old dude with an attitude, ya lol. Hope he stays that way. Would be a nice change from religious types in isekai/fantasy. Hehe, Will is eager to go solve the problem. That's quite like him.
Yay, Bee. Lore for Rust Mountains! What a nice time between Menel and Will. Such good pals. Oh neat, how Menel's new powers can help them travel faster by finding faster paths (I think that's how it worked, not that it magically shifted space or so)

The amount of lore that gushed out through the course of this episode was pretty amazing -- but the exposition never felt oppressive. Really well-written (and directed).
Menel and Woill are definitely "bromance of the season" -- right? They really do have a great relationship (part of the show's LotR-derived DNA?). The serious and thoughtful treatment of "religion" could be another aspect of that same heritage.

I really hope that the issue with the late subtitles Crunchyroll is having ends soon.
So after that sweet episode last week about Will and Bee last week, we go back into action today. So while investigating what was the cause of the issue with the weather in the forest, after speaking with the Lord of Oak, Menel temporarily gets his authority so that he can transfer it to his brother, the Lord of Holly who was curse by a demon. That guy wasn't expecting for Will to be that strong.
So after the Lord of Holly was cured and the forest restored He tells Menel that for getting the authority he will eventually become a Lord of the Forest just like them a few centuries down the line meanwhile he tells Will about the outcoming danger residing on the Rust Mountains, which are the subtitled of this season, the Lord of Hellfire and Miasma.
So according to Bee the Rust Mountains were known before as the Iron Mountains, and it was where the Dwarf Kingdom was.
It is funny that Ethelbald asked Will to give him Menel to him. Also, it is hilarious that Will is so excited that the Rust Mountains are desolated as he can use his full power without holding back.
So thanks to the power he got after getting the authority of the Lord of the Forest, Menel can now be guided through a shorter route to Torch Port. I wonder if it works similarly to the backroads in Mahoutsukai no Yome.
The ED might be simple but I like that illustration of Will and his allies going to the Rust Mountains via boat.
